The paper football scene between Tony and Nebula gets me emotional. Every time. The tiny smile she gets when she ties the game is bittersweet because she seems to be having genuine fun for possibly the first time in decades, and when she wins, it is the first time she wins something onscreen, and my heart breaks for her. Karen Gillan’s performance was masterfully subtle.

Thor's arc was so good. Mjolnir returned to him; *he is still worthy*. Despite his failure, trauma, and self doubt after losing half of everything, Mjolnir still came to him when called. This is a powerful message for all of those, all of us, that have fallen short or maybe suffered in our own lives. We are still worthy, too. He didn't just have his hammer back. The ending of this film is fantastic. It has the highest highs and the lowest lows. The final battle scene is absolutely unreal as far as us comic fans are concerned- especially a line delivered by Cap to kick that battle off. This journey took over ten years and over 20 films to get to the ending of. It was an amazing ride. I’m not just sad at the characters that died, I’m possibly even more sad that I’ll never get to ride this ride for the first time again. This journey will never be duplicated- the acting, the writing, the cameos, the slow reveals, and the anticipation of it all were just beyond perfect. The journey from Iron Man to Endgame was a ride better than anything at any theme park. It was fun, it was comforting, it got you invested, it broke your heart, taught you valuable lessons, and in the end, it delivered not a happy ending, but an unbelievably good one.

28:58 Quill got it so easy compared to Nebula, but I think they couldn't wait for Quill to do it because after Quill got it, Thanos or Ronan's army were there to get the stone. So Nebula and Rhodey went for the harder way. Great reaction, looking forward to Part 2! I do want to mention how time works in the MCU, as some were confused when Endgame was released, so if there are any questions I hope this can clear it up: We have our timeline, shown as here: -------------------------------------- They jumped backwards, leaving a point in their timeline for them to return to ------------------------------------- * Once they entered the past, they began to branch reality (essentially make copies of the universe that would have their future changed, instead of their original timeline) _________ < New Timeline Created by Entering the Past | --------- + ------------------------- * < Original Timeline Where Nothing Changed When the Avengers return, they go from the branch timeline, back to the original timeline, as their navigational systems have registered where that point in time is. _________

Which of course makes absolutely ZERO sense, because you cannot unchange the past. Even by returning the stones, you have altered the past in an unfixable way. Too many interactions, too many people who saw you. Even existing in the past effectively changes it, which means you cannot unchange it. There is a reason time travel doesn't work mechanically, and is a stupid thing to do in a movie. It never makes sense and it only removes all stakes from your story.

Simple time travel explanation: "A change in the past doesn't change the future" What technically happened in the movie is that they went back in time only to fetch the stones without changing anything...but if something does change it doesn't affect them but rather it creates a new timeline that deviates from the original one. So, you can say a universe may have different timelines. Even srewing up with Loki who ran away, this doesn't affect their timeline but rather the newly created timeline where Loki is on the loose.

23:44: So, not long before the movie came out, in the comics Red Skull used a Cosmic Cube (an item that can rewrite reality) to turn Steve Rogers into a HYDRA agent. A lot of people were not happy with this storyline, including Chris Evans. Hearing him as Steve say "Hail HYDRA" in the Endgame cause a lot of applause at taking that very controversial moment and turning it into not just a great joke, but an awesome moment for Cap, knowing how to get exactly what he wants with zero resistance. Fun thing to note: In Infinity War, Strange used the Time Stone to find the one timeline where they win. In Endgame, Thanos looks through Nebula's memories to see what's happened. Strange watched Endgame during Infinity War, and Thanos watched Infinity War during Endgame.

Strange let Thanos win on purpose because he knew once he saw himself win, he would be over confident that he was unstoppable the second time. The original Thanos even though doing what he did was wrong, he had sort of a code, not killing people unecesarely because once he had the stones the random part of the snap would "select" who dies. He wasn't arrogant and he didn't feel invincible. The other timeline Thanos wasn't as mature yet, he saw himself win so he though he was destined to win the second time too, at the end he wanted to kill out of fun. That's what got himself beat and Strange saw all of that

You kinda missed the point of the time travel talk when Bruce explains why it doesn't work like Back to the Future and such. You almost immediately were like "oh won't that change the timeline?" The easiest way to think about it is that this is a very perfunctory lesson in multiverse theory. They're not gonna change their past, they can't, they're basically hitting multiverses for their stones (which they plan to return at the moment they remove them as to not disrupt those specific multiverses) so they can use them in theirs to undo what happened. If it's still confusing by the end, that's okay. Phase 4 will gradually lay it out for you before really diving in, starting with the plot of Far From Home (which is technically the last film of Phase 3). Just try to remember that nothing you'd expect in a movie like Back to the Future applies. Think of the mess just the 2012 NYC trip would have made if it changed their own timeline. Loki escaping with the Tesseract is just the tip of the iceberg there.

I don't know how easy it is to balance them, but what is noticeable is when the clip volume is right, you come through really loud and so do the ads meaning I'm constantly reaching for the volume settings to adjust. Maybe it is the clips audio that needs raising to match the rest? Looking forward to seeing your future reactions. I can't tell you how many times I have watched endgames or movie reactions of endgames, but it wasn't until recently that I heard Rhody say "not it" when Vormir is described by Nebula in the "Time Heist" brainstorm session

In the original script for the movie, Clint was supposed to go back to Age of Ultron and bring Pietro to the present but he would’ve been brought back to 2023, and instead of saying, “I got it.” in reference to the mitt, he would’ve said, “I saw him.” about Pietro.

Great reaction Addie. I really like this sequel and how everyone coped differently to the "Blip." Looks like I have a lot of your reactions to do lol. Btw, The Time Machine from the 60's is a great film.

Awesome reaction, Addie. Avengers: Endgame is the real culmination of everything in the MCU. I even enjoyed seeing it in IMAX 1.90:1 with my girlfriend and two friends of ours. Seeing Bruce becoming Professor Hulk was hilarious as well as Scott struggling with his tacos when Nebula & Rhodey arrived. BTW, nice commentary captioning.

@RM I think it was hilarious when I first saw it, but as I looked back on the 2008 movie, it became clear how much I miss seeing Edward Norton's take in the MCU, given how scary he looked, especially with the green pupils.

13:22 Because it's a thing from the comics. He's also been split from the Hulk and other stuff. The movies just never bother telling you what happened to end up here. 24:55 No, it didn't, because multiverse theory. That's the whole reason they don't just kill Thanos in the past, cause it won't affect their time.

Not too many seem to get the Tony Stark joke early on where he calls Nebula the Blue Meanie. Well, you need to know that Blue Meanies were a fictional army of fierce, music-hating beings in the 1968 Beatles animated film Yellow Submarine. And they had blue faces.

ADDIE: I'm wondering if "Infinity War" will be more emotional than this one. ME: *short barking, bitter laugh* A masterpiece, though. Quick trivia notes before I start. Tony says it's been 22 days since The Snap because this is MCU film #22. And "I love you 3000" is there because the 22 films run a combined 3000 minutes (50 hours). Now you know.
