I order my Level yesterday from a dealer only 60 miles away. I researched quite a bit and wanted to buy from a good shop in case of a service problem. I had to pay sales tax too but I have peace of mind buying from a dealer and supporting a good business. Looking forward to a great year on 2-wheels. Stay SAFE everyone ‼️

Im an avid biker & have owned many classic bikes & 3 ebikes in the past. I just bought an Aventon Pace 500 Stepthrough with 750 watts motor top speed is 28 mph, 20 mph on throttle only. In my opinion this is the best affordable ebike made with excellence in craftsmanship, engineering and design. I have nothing negative to say. I am in love with my Aventon Pace 500 Stepthrough. It is perfect. I love the Stepthrough design. No need to lift my leg to mount it. It is a lightweight 48 pounds. Powerful and quiet that can go uphill like a breeze, great powerful hydraulic disc brake, great pedal assist which helps me at the traffic light stop for an easy & fast get away with just a light pedaling. The Samsung battery is a powerful 48 volts with a range of 30 miles. To use the thumb throttle you have to pedal first to activate the thumb throttle which is a safety feature & I agree. The wide lcd display shows the distance, speed, battery gauge. Shimano Altus8 speed shifter is also great.

Thanks for the cool review. Just a heads up this is not an expensive ebike for class 3 at 28mph. That's cheap as hell for 28mph, front fork, and 40 mile range. Upgrade your seat post or buck up for what you desire.

I have the Ride1up 700 series and now have put about 800 miles on it since I got it this summer so I wanted to share some thoughts here. First off, I really like the Aventon e-bikes. In fact, I have a friend who is in the 5' 2" range who I turned onto the Aventon Pace 500 (small frame) and it's a solid performer and very well built, just like the Aventon Level. But if you are a larger rider (I'm 6' 3", 260lbs), I recommend you SERIOUSLY consider the Ride1up 700 as an alternative to the Aventon Level. Not only are you getting much better parts for $150.00 less (wider tires, integrated front and rear lights, a 500w motor that can be set to 1000w peak, color display vs. monochrome, 9 user-programmable levels of PAS, etc), but the main feature on the Ride1up 700 series that is missing on the Aventon e-bikes (Pace 500, Level, etc) is a FULL-TIME active throttle. I honestly can't tell you how many dozens of times on each ride I use the throttle from ZERO, not just on hills, but on flats to get up to a comfortable pedaling speed, and ESPECIALLY across busy intersections. On the Ride1up 700, you just hit the throttle and go. Watching my friend struggle on her Aventon Pace 500 with trying to PEDAL first before the throttle engages is painful to watch (and dangerous in some situations) and she ALWAYS seems to come to a stop in the wrong gear which makes the situation worse. Is this correctable with practice....sure. But is it convenient and comfortable...absolutely not. And don't even get me started on the differences that throttle makes when one does some light single-track work (agreed, a bit of stretch with all of these commuter bikes). On the Ride1up 700, I simply lower the seat, keep my 2 feet on the ground for balance, and throttle through the entire course...no pedaling necessary. My friend with the Aventon Pace 500 literally cannot do these types of tracks at ALL because she cannot manage the constant changes between keeping her feet on the pedals (so the throttle remains active) and moving her feet to the ground for balance. These are all good bikes, but just know what you're getting into before you buy. Hope this is helpful to someone...
@land7776
@land7776 3 года назад
The pedal has to be manually turned 1/2 to one revolution before the throttle can be used! I wonder how your friend, or others commenting ever possibly rode the old 'analog' bikes, where you had to pedal...all the time!
@dp9324
@dp9324 3 года назад
@@land7776 Of course all of us came from pedal bikes, that's why we like E-bikes so much! Even turning the wheel 1/2 turn before the throttle engages is (at best) inconvenient and (at worst) dangerous as people often try to cross busy intersections when they are inadvertently in the wrong gear (can't change gears until you pedal and can't use the throttle until you pedal, but you can't pedal because it's in the wrong gear...a catch 22 for you "thinkers" out there). Aventon made the wrong design decision in my opinion here. The Ride1Up 700's full-time active throttle is a lifesaver, not just a simply convenience. My 2 cents...
@land7776
@land7776 3 года назад
@@dp9324 maybe it would be safer to just walk your bike across a busy intersection, in fact I think that's the prescribed way for any bike. There are many e-bikes made now that have no throttle at all- pedal assist only. And class two bikes that have a pedal start throttle. I've read many reviews of these e-bikes and can't recall one complaint about them, or an accident attributed to them. Seems to me it would be much more dangerous at a track on full throttle with seat lowered and feet on the ground- but I've never tried that...
@dp9324
@dp9324 3 года назад
@@land7776 In fact, It's probably safer just to have no bike at all and just walk everywhere in practice. I will tell you that most drivers have a well-rehearsed idea in their minds about how long it (should) take bikers to traverse an intersection. Based on how fast they approach these intersections where I live, I can assure that NONE of them are expecting a biker to dismount his saddle and physically walk his bike across. There would be no end to the honking and hand gestures given to someone who crawled their bike across the road. A press of the thumb always makes for a safe and speedy crossing if one has that capability.

@@dp9324 great comment that ive never thought of. ive been having a headache picking between the two 😆. The colors are so much nicer on the Aventon imo. The other thing that is better with the aventon is the support as they have dealers all over the US and other country. I dont like the mat finished paint job in the ride 1 up 700 series but the throttle on demand is super nice which i believe it is a 100$ upgrade on the aventon (ridiculous).

Nice summary! I bought this bike for my wife's birthday and she loves it. When her knees start to hurt she can rest them. Similar alternatives with front shock that we considered were the RadPower commuter models and the Ride1UP Series. Another strong contender was the ebike brand: Magnum's 'Cosmo X' or 'Metro S', which also have front shock but have a different, more upright rider position. Magnum models add Headlight and Functional Brake Light. Similar price point and very heavy duty rear rack too. Some noteworthy points: With Aventon, the rider's position, greater power (Class 3) and overall quality won us over. It's stock seat is a bit hard so we switched it out with a gel/comfort seat and just added lights. (Not as good as Magnum's blinking-when-you-brake tail light.) It's also very balanced which makes it fun to ride and fairly smooth to pick up from under the seat. (we were very tempted by Aventon's Aventure, their fat tire model at about the same price - but decided she'd mostly be on paved surfaces and that one would be unnecessarily bulky. ) With the key you can remove the battery if you want to charge it indoors. (will also charge through the onboard port.) Or you can swap a fresh battery. ** The LCD display has a backlight function so you can turn that on at night/when needed. It also has a 'walk assist' function to make it easy to walk the bike uphill if needed... Lastly, it's worth knowing the meaning: un aventón - in Spanish means 'a lift' or 'a ride' in the sense of 'can i catch a ride?' Thanks for your review!

I have this bike, bought April 2022, they now cost 1799.00. 200 miles on it and no regrets. Don’t let the lack of lights bother you if no plans to ride in low light conditions. Putting a left side mirror on the end of the handle bar made suburban riding so much better for this 67 yr old. I zip tied a square plastic crate to the rear and now it can bring home a lot of groceries. Keeping my car battery charged is now my biggest worry.

I have been pricing and comparing ebikes for about a year now, I still don't know when I'll settle for one. But I'll tell you from all the data comparisons and pricing I've done, Aventon Level wins hands down! For the price point of $1,699.00 Aventon gives you more extras, like aluminum fenders and rear rack (not included with other brands), a good spring suspension fork, Good hydraulic brakes on 180mm rotors, good (ebike rated, puncture resistant) tires, a 750 (peak) hub motor coupled with a 48volt 14amp hour battery. On some brands FENDERS and RACK are additional expenses and most other brands have cable pull brakes. An, by the way their newest models come with both cadence and tork sensors. And the welds on this ebike are exceptional! The frame looks like one continuous piece. If you don't want to take my word and research as a guide...well, you do your own. But I'm telling you AVENTON is the company that I feel will one day RULE THE ROAD for ebikes. The only negative I could find with these Aventon ebikes is...why no head and tail lights? But that's really not a big deal. The RAD Rover...well it's just over priced!..

Bicycles make life and cities better. Ebikes are great and they are bringing older adults back to cycling. Bicycles are healthy exercise, fossil fuels free transportation and great for social distancing. Cities need to do more to encourage people to ride bicycles by providing more protected bike lanes. Also, I've heard from several sources that the throttle is not available from stop. Like PAS, it requires assume amount of pedal revolution before it's available, as well. Also, any comment on the aggressive 12mph PAS 1?

I have chosen the Aventon Level step thru because I like shiny paint finish more than the dull finish on the Ride 1 Up and because I have a bike shop that sells and services the Aventon ebikes within an hour and 40 minuet drive of my home. I also think the maximum range listed between the Aventon and the Ride 1 Up may have more to do with the recommended tire pressure on the two ebikes. The Ride 1 Up uses a 27.5 x 2.4 Schwalbe Super Moto-X tire with recommended pressure of 30 - 55 psi. The Aventon Level uses a 27.5 x 2.2 Kenda Kwik Drumlin tire with recommended pressure of 50 -80 psi. The lower pressure tire will give a softer ride, where the higher pressure tire will provide less rolling resistance and greater distance. I would guess that if both bikes had the same tires and same air pressure the maximum distance per battery charge would be same.

Good review, but, this is not a Premium E-Bike. Premium starts at about $2300. This is a mid-range, but very workmanlike offering, among several others out there. I have the Ride1Up 700XR, which is nearly identical in features and structure. Even the same weight. As to seats - which I call saddles - most every bicycle I've purchased new over the last 40 years has a crap saddle. The makers know this because it will be the first thing that gets tossed by the owner. I don't even remark much about the saddle. Regarding the Hard Tail build: I suggest that people get a saddle that is designed for a "comfort bike" or a utility bike. It will have coil springs under it that should go a long way towards rider comfort for a bike with this frame geometry. The minimalist off-road or road sport saddles are totally mis-matched for these bikes. My favorite for decades has been Brooks saddles. I use the B-67 on the Ride1Up, which has a frame almost identical to the Aventon. I'm not sure, but I think the Aventon now comes with a full light set. The Ride1Up does. For those considering an E-Bike at this price point ($1500-$1800), my take is that most if not all of them are going to be pretty good. Everyone makes a good frame now days. The bikey parts are common and not too expensive - and - many bike shops will happily service those parts. BUT, unless you buy direct from them, they might not service or carry the sparky parts. So, what WILL they do for you? Interestingly, I shopped for weeks comparing shops and brands, asking questions, etc. Finally I was able to piece together a scenario that many might find too common. Here it is: Buying off the web might not be too different than from a brick and mortar store after all. It's no secret that businesses rarely carry much back room inventory anymore. Thus, many parts are simply ordered from the same people you can order from. If it's a brake lever you need, it's probably in stock at the store, but no guarantee. Even something that common can be on back order, or might need to be sent from some warehouse out in the county and won't be in for a couple days. Back order might take weeks. Control units and junction blocks are a crap shoot, since those things are usually not stocked anywhere close by - if even on the same continent. Batteries are pretty common , though. We are in the Second Wave of E-Bikes, now being manufactured to some order from a middle man op - no matter if it's Trek, Specialized, or Ride1Up or Aventon. The First Wave was a bunch of guys in a garage , converting old MTB's. Now, we are totally dependent upon a Chinese supply chain that has little in the way of either quality guarantees or delivery guarantees. Those people put plaster in baby formula - remember? So, it's Caveat Emptor. But, in the meantime, I'm happy with the Ride1Up so far. My first review will be at 500 miles, which I feel should reveal any weaknesses. I expect the Aventon to be the same.

@ExSkyCyclePilot
@ExSkyCyclePilot 3 года назад
The slightly higher cost, lack of front and rear lights, and the unsophisticated, dangerously exposed display (easily damaged) caused me to choose the Ride1UP 700 over this bike. And that's regrettable, because Aventon actually has a brick and mortar presence in local bike shops, and I would have loved to be able to support one of those stores. The fact that the throttle on the Aventon cannot be used unless you are pedaling was another important factor. As to the battery, charge it to only 80% unless you really need the extra range, and avoid discharging it below 20%, and it will last a lot longer.

We purchased this Vivi 27.5” electric bike and a Tentaquil 26” electric bike for our 13 and 14 year olds. ru-vid.comUgkxUiL0GnyDjP32RJdd660sP8mZk4CRLTCJ The Vivi was much easier to put together. With the Vivi, there was a video link to assist with assembly which made the process easier to follow (we did put the handlebars on upside down, but it was a quick and easy fix). With the Tentaquil, the assembly was not as simple to follow, but after we messaged the company for an assembly video, it was easier and they did respond quickly. The other major differences were that the Vivi has a grip throttle on the right handle (like a motorcycle) and the Tentaquil has a push throttle that you use your thumb to activate. The monitors were also different, so if you’re looking for something specific in terms of changing the bikes functions, pay attention to what the monitor offers. We were really impressed with the overall quality and functionality of both bikes, but if you’re looking for more power and an easier assembly, definitely go with the Vivi!

Mike, you'll LOVE your Ride1Up 700 series. Got mine about a month ago and I have about 350+ miles on mine so far. Everything has been great, but I DID have to take it into a bike shop to have the rear wheel trued and spokes tightened, as for some reason the fine folks in China didn't properly tighten those spokes on the two bikes I got in my production run. Every since I had that done, the 700 series has been fun, quiet, and ridiculously powerful. Be sure to set the control panel settings to 22amps (1000 watts) for maximum burst power and configure all 9 pedal assist modes the way you prefer them. Curiously, I have tried the Aventon Pace 500 which is similar to the Aventon Level and I found their assist modes WAAAAAY too aggressive and not programmable at all which (ironically) made the bike too fast for slow, pedestrian crowded paths by comparison. I'm glad purchased the Ride1Up 700 series (though their Core5 should be considered for those that need or prefer a lighter bike, honestly). Enjoy your 700!

Anyone who's ever had to wrench on their own bike should have no trouble with something like this. :) Rad Power bikes has some comparable designs is one, there's more of course but they do cost more than this. Rad is a local company for me. Please don't disparage something for not having integrated headlights, this bike is purely focused on the being a good bike not gimmicks such as fancy lights. Integrated lights waste battery and are typically really unimpressive in terms of performance.

Has anyone bypassed the speed limiter on this like on Rad bikes? I know the weight limit is 300. And that's what I weigh.
