Average White Band 1979 Live 

One of my favorite bands from the 70's and still enjoy listening to their stuff now.They'll never get old.

One of my favorite bands of the 70's and still is..AWB were a funky bunch and they've been sampled more than any other artist.Would love to see them on an awards show now..the original members,of course..and the younger kids can know how good these guys are and how good the bands were back then.

One of my all time favorite groups - I saw them several times over the years, first time 1979 in Zurich - the year this video was shot......

These guys are a freak of nature. Next to KC and Wild Cherry these guys have way too much soul to be white guys! Still sound great today. Real musicians and vocalists unlike today!

Yesterday when I was on myspace,I noticed that they were on my list of friends,which is pretty cool.

@strawberryblonde47 awesome! I always liked him too...wish there was a way for them to work together again. I miss all the originals. Tye touring group now is awesome in its own way. Nothing like the real thing baby...

What a tasty band

I know they still tour,but not with the original lineup,which would be even better.I don't have any of their new albums.I wish they would be on some of the late night talk shows and other shows to get even more exposure.

What happened to the original guitar player,hammish stewart? is he still around? that guy they have now taking his place Sucks!! no match at all! he can't try hard enough to replace Hammish!! love! AWB!!

Please tell me what the name of this tune is, or where I can find the video recording of this. I would desperately love to cover this song; it's so funky and has such a positive message. I just can't figure out what it is called. Yikes!!! Groovalisciousness!!

TOP is a multiracial band, not all white by any stretch of the imagination. AWB is good, the best recordings I have of theirs is with Maceo Parker, other than that all of their other best recored music was done with TOP horns backing them. Top has way more soul, they are from Oakland/Berkeley and play a very different style, East Bay (grease) funk, way more soul than AWB, just no comparison.

Sorry,the best white funk band would have to be Tower Of Power.But The Average White is Definately right up there with 'em.
