You won't find me buying trying $1200 headsets for $600. I'm too cheap even for that 😂

I just buy straight from the dealer or a legit store. The warranty is worth the extra money in case something goes wrong.

I lost $800 trying to buy a used dynamic prop balancer of one of my many aviation groups I belong to on Facebook. Never again!

Excellent advice, thank you. I will definitely be on the lookout for these red flags. The off-platform one is something I may have been susceptible to if someone gave the right explanation.

Never buying off FB will save a lot of heartache.

I sold 4 headsets on FB for a low price last year - headsets that I bought for a testing video. Sold them for half list price. I have poor spelling, my profile is locked down, etc; I show all the red flags. But I was legit.

Have the seller take a picture of the inside top of the headset and the inside of the battery door of the controller. Both have serial numbers that you can call Bose to verify.

I have 2 headsets, about $80 each, in my plane. They are very basic, not noise canceling, and completely suit my needs. I have had noise canceling headsets for decades, but not in my plane. I use noise canceling headsets while commuting on the train, chaperoning my kids to various classes, and to telegraph that I don't want to be bothered. And absolutely love the noise canceling feature in those situations. However, while flying my plane (my fourth), I do not want the plane noises cancelled. I want to hear every change in engine and airplane noise because it could be a problem. So, don't spend a thousand dollars on a premium headset, the $80 product may be appropriate. And then you'll have $920 that you can spend on gas!

This is not good advice, only if you enjoy tinnitus. I assume you don’t fly very much. I foolishly did about 5000 hours flying checks in old props and wish all the time that I had worn noise cancellation headsets. Spend money on a headset people.

Got my license in 1989 and have thousands of hours, much of it in very noisy C-130's. In the Mighty Herky Bird, I always wore earplugs and my issue headset. My hearing is perfect. Importantly, I use noise isolating strategy (earplugs & headset), not noise cancelling strategy. I want to hear every sound my plane makes, just not at full blast. @@Flysh24
