I just ran across this review today. It is the best boat review that I have ever watched due to the fact that you took the time to include the boat dimensions. I appreciate having them and I bet that others appreciate them as well. Thanks.
Just bought and received my avid 19 fsx thru Ltd motors in high springs! Love it so far! Only about 30 more minutes of break in and I can open it up! Can’t wait to take it to Steinhatchee and get in some shallow water
Awesome video and a honest but great review! I have just stumbled across Avid boat's and I have to say, I am really impressed. I currently run a 08' G3 1756. Looking to upgrade in the future and had my eyes set on the Xpress h22 but Avid has my mind changed. I do have on question as far as the T-Top. Are you about to use the console rod holders? I run anywhere from 6'8" to 7'4" rods and I am curious if they would fit in the side console. It isn't a big deal, with the additional rod holders on top and the rod compartments, but do you loose the capability to use those other 6 console rod holders? Thank you for a great video!
The t top blocks anything over 6’4” from sitting straight but you can put up to 7’ rods in it with the tops bent. I don’t prefer this tho so we do not use ours except for the net.
@@garrettgincley9739 Thank you for the response! Ever since I slapped a T-Top on the G3, it has been super nice with shade and comfort. Only downside is the loss of the console rod holders, but it isn't that big of a deal with the Avid because of the rod locker storage. Maybe someone will come out with little cookie cutter type holes in the canvas for the tips of the rods to go in! Once again, Great review and thank you for the response!
@@rothm8049 I actually saw someone recently had a canvas guy cut out little holes in the top to allow the rods to slide through so that is definitely an option!
Got rid of my 23 FS Mag! Had soooo many problems with it. May have been a bad one, dealer set up, trailer issue, who knows. Not good customer service for me. Switched to Sea Pro 248. A world of difference. We really wanted the 23 FS to work out, but it was a disaster.
man sorry to hear that! My boat and dealer have been amazing so far. no issues on my end. Had a cushion fly off while trailering and my dealer had a new one to me in 2 weeks.
I have the 23 Mag FS, mine has been a pain in the ass too. constant electrical issues in the beginning finally got those bugs out. Center console is flimsy. I had my fabricator build a custom T Top to help stabilize it. It has tons of stress cracks in it. The toe kick is nice...it has a lot of nice features and I'm trying to fall in love but she's making it hard😂. I'm in Emerald Isle so she lives in the salt. fishes and handles good, run offshore trolling and bottom fishing on pretty days. I probably won't keep it too long.
What was your out of the door price? I'm in NC as well and looking at an Avid 21fs and the Xpress h22b. Also, have you been wanting another graph for the bow or do you find the one at the console is efficient enough?
I'll be adding another graph at the console once the Hummingbird LIVE comes available - I have a SOLIX 10 waiting to be added. But the single graph at the console has been doing its job. With the terrova on a remote i can always stand at the back of the boat and fish if i need to see the graph. Out the door was $65k with the additions I made - I have heard that 2022 models got an 8% price increase and some great, but slight, changes to the hull and other items. I also looked at the Xpress h22b and liked the layout of the AVID a lot more. What part of NC? you are more than welcome to check it out if you are close enough to the triangle area.
@@garrettgincley9739 I'm up the street from Harris lake (Fuquay Varina). My Xpress dealer was telling me he didn't know much about Avid yet but he did say that they use rivets in the deck (all welded hull but riveted deck) - do you know if that's true? I don't know anyone with a boat in NC so I have not had any chance to go fishing let alone talk boats lol. Do you fish Jordan/Harris at all?
@@CancerCashew I fish harris a lot! The deck on mine is spot welded, no rivets. The new model Avids are fully welded decks and look cleaner than the spot weld.
I am curious as to what boat was you fishing out of before getting your Avid? I have a 221 Champion Bass Boat and have been considering this boat but I don't think the ride will even come close to what I currently have because it has a pad style hull rather than a deep V. No disrespect to this boat or trying to be a jackass I fish areas that get really rough. I have looked at many different aluminums and this one is definitely one of the finest I have seen.
Various Nitro and Ranger boats in the 17-19' range. The boat rides great but it will definitely not ride like a deep v in rough water. I have had it out in some 2-3' chop and it runs fine on plane - like any boat take your time and youll be fine.
Have you ever had your Avid in Gaston lake? Gaston is my home lake and was wondering if the T top would clear Peahill creek bridge. Did you think about a NC dealer or did the Florida dealer just offer a better price?
I am curious, how is the ride in a chop? is it a wet ride? Plus how is stability standing in it while on the water? Also, is wind an issue siting on the water?
It is wetter than a fiberglass boat, but i have only had a minimal spray on folks who are sitting in the jump seats on a decent wake. no issues for anyone at the console or the front livewell seat. it rides better than any other aluminum boat i have been in in chop, but will not ride like a fiberglass boat of the same size. I havent had any issues with it swinging around in the wind, but i always have the trolling motor down controlling the boat.
Does your bilge pump come on automatically even with the battery switch off? Just got mine last week and noticed when it rained the bilge would come on for 10-15 seconds
Thanks! Yes i am still loving the boat! I haven't had any major issues - figured out a couple of things like the livewells filling up that i talked about in the video. A few of the hatches are not waterproof in a heavy rain, and i am not a fan of a white rub rail (it shows all dirt). But these are all minor things that i can live with. Overall the boat performs amazingly and is perfect for what my family and I were looking for!
Yeah it was the overflow plug or whatever they call it. Didn’t realize it was installed. When it’s installed the water won’t drain until it reaches the top of that. Pull it out and now I don’t get but a 1/2” or so in their and it drains completely whenever we pull the boat out.
Ever figure out why the livewells fill up with with water.? I have mine ordered and i plan on using the back one for storage and dont want water to come in. Thanks
i live in myrtle beach south carolina. where was your closest dealer of the avids? i am looking to get the 21 or 23 sf myself. and if you could do it all over again which motor do you think you would chose? thanks again and the boat looks great
My closest dealer (I’m in the triangle area) is Performance East. At the time I got this LTD motors was the only dealer who had one ready with a motor. They are a great dealership and probably not a terribly far drive for you! If I could do it again I’d probably keep the 175 SHO. I think it gives you plenty of speed and with the smaller block you get better mpg.
@@garrettgincley9739 thanks for the reply i actually just missed in the video where you had gotten this boat in florida. i really like these boats thank you for the reply. definately keek posted with the boat.
Hate to be a pain...would it be possible to know what the height would be without the T top? If you don't know, I understand. Seriously looking at the 19 footer. Want to make sure it fits my garage.
@@catchandreleasetrout No, decided on a scout 177 instead. Still does everything I want a boat to do for my needs and love the design. Thanks for asking.
Hey, I'm really thinking abt ordering this boat. Only question I have is regarding the 175 SHO standard engine. How does it move with that engine? Would you get it again? Or upgrade to a 200 or 250?
I can do low 50s with my family and a full load. I’d probably go 200SHO if it were available when I purchased my boat. But the 175 sips fuel so that’s nice.
