Love the 4 over 9 Latin thing that Nitai gets into. Totally out and in. This is some of the best modern jazz going today. Where does AC find these guys? Jeez, man. Talk about world class stuff.

I can't stop watching this. What an incredible performance! Mr. Jouin did an absolutely fantastic job as well. I love that he's getting credit on these videos now, because he is really doing something right. That drum set sounded amazing!

Agreed. It's a shame, even with all of the incredible musicians he surrounds himself with, I can hear no improvement. Thankfully there's rarely much, if any, bass playing in the live performance, like here, so it's quite easily forgotten or ignored once the Players have set up what is actually being said by each movement.

3:53 de vastgehouden noot "waar*heid*" werkelijk prachtig en dramatisch. Volgens mij is dit een "common-tone-modulation". Eerst speelt de noot de rol van de secunde ("re" van do-re-mi). Daarna verandert de toonsoort van de muziek gespeeld door het achtergrondorkest, zodat de vastgehouden noot een nieuwe functie krijgt, die van de tonica ("do"). Misschien speelt dat een rol bij het dramatische effect!? Alsof de zanger met zoveel kracht en verdriet de toon "heid" zingt, dat die "heid" de wereld in beweging brengt, zonder zelf te hoeven bewegen... Feedback van prof. componisten etc. geapprecieerd... :-)
