When you set up a business account, they ask you what type and amount of transactions will be going through the account. You let them know upfront if you are a cash intensive business.
well it happened…..after 8 years with chase and over$750k worth of transactions and 8 chase cards, they shut me down. Definitely had to deal with a lot of cash transactions. I own a grocery store and paid all of the balances with cash. (im talking $9k balance in cash.) Did get two CTRS in the last year. Oh well.
To answer your question re: shutdowns: For me, none. But I have seen other RU-vidrs get their account shut down due to the aggressive AU activity that you mentioned. I do - _pretty much_, only have an Amex setup. I'm not concerned with me returning things although I had an offer from Amex to buy from the company, etc. Just normal spend, didn't like it, I returned it and got a "minus" in my account for points / rebates, etc. I'm using the cards what would reflect my typical way of spend / returns, etc.
@@Jamal1kyle did you get them before your credit profile was good. You can have a decent score but credit limit is also about profile not solely score...keep them but try a credit union or local bank for higher limits come back after using for a bit and ask for increase
My 1st 2 CCs I had 700 score and last 2 were high 600s. I called them today and called them out on not getting limit increase on none of my 4 cards stuck at 1k. They said they noted account and will review.
@@Jamal1kyle ok well that sounds promising...I would still work on profile and establishing relationships elsewhere as well. Credit unions are normally generous. Whatever you do don't embellish what acnt be proven with Amex as far as income because they do financial review and will ask for income tax info
Capital One would always take may payments from the wrong account. Then they closed my credit cards. My bank account is still open. I now have AMEX everyday cash.
Did not know about CTRs and structuring, that alone is worth a like. I haven’t hit the 10k mark but I have had to deposit large sums of cash before. I’ve found myself in a pinch and was too lazy to wait to link the two accounts online 🤣
HSBC doesn’t mess around now after that fine. Basically no checking or savings account is instantly opened. You need to wait at least a week for your application to be reviewed. I actually need to follow up with them to move the application along.
I wouldn't recommend Capital One. They can't even compete with Discover®️ customer service at all. C1 doesn't want to increase my credit limit even though I'm always on time and my other cards have a higher credit limit lol🥱🥱
@@idkwhyiam9440 C1 gave me the most dumbest excuse. They said this card doesn't allow an increase 😐 I'm gladly moving to chase now. I hate to sound like a Karen but yeah
Just like how you described, I've had high utilization for quite a while...needed to finance my biz costs on my personal cards, it is what it is. Zero late payments, but Chase shut down all 3 of my accounts! Devastated and trying to figure out what to do next to prevent other issuers from following suit!
How high was your util on the Chase cards when they did that? I'm trying to get a sense of how high I should go before worrying about Chase doing that. I know standard recommendation is 30%, but were you well above that? 50 or 60%?
Hey Sebby, you kind of jumped into this “here’s a couple ways cards can get shutdown” topic at ~0:22 with basically no background info. Idk if that was intentional to get ppls attentions, but it made it super confusing as if we missed something that was discussed previously
What I want to know is when these Banks get fined billions of dollars. Where does all that money go? Sure someone had to prosecute the bank and someone had to be a judge. But then what about the rest of it?
Pardon me what about when you pay,,,,oh you just answered my question about paying off credit cards and they still shut u down because you don't use it. Thanks
I have a platinum uk charge and I don’t use the spending power button very often but I was approved for 10k and then the next week I was declined for 2k. They seem to be very erratic at the moment Amex .. Any idea why ?
@@imperium2000 in the UK, Amex use your external credit report, combined with internal information on past usage, combined with the current national risk strategy to determine spending power on charge. The enquiry tool isn't accurate and should only be a guide. If you never miss payments and don't carry balances on other products, as long as your spending is within your usual pattern, it'll usually be approved regardless of your total current balance.
Aloha Sebby, My credit scores are in the 825-830 range and just this past week, I got an email from Amex saying they are shutting down my very old Amex blue card because of inactivity. In honesty, I looked back at my emails and saw that they sent me a warning email in March saying, “to avoid your card shut down by charging on it.” Which I did, thinking Iʻd do it again in six months. Well as I said previously, I got an email this past week from Amex saying it shut down my Blue account. I am very sad they did it. My question to you, how will it affect my Platinum account if any? I use that card religiously. Also the day after the shutdown, my Transunion score went down 6 points. Iʻm assuming it will come back up in a short time. I use 1%,that I pay off monthly, of my total credit available which is in the $200,000 range. Why would they do this since I have been with them for over 30 years. Should I apply for an Amex card in the next 6 months? Thanks for your channel.
Shut downs for inactive credit accounts occur because unused credit still incurs a cost and is still a risk to Amex. They also closed it since they assumed you didn't seem to care about the account. You could easily keep such accounts alive by doing a small monthly recurring charge(donation, Amazon refills etc) with autopay. I use my old Amex Blue Cash card to donate $10 a month to the local classical music radio station. You may be able to call Amex and ask them to reopen the account if it just occurred 1-2weeks ago..
When you do the review for the new us bank altitude go credit card, can you talk about what counts as dining? Does that include fast food and restaurants? I also have the us bank cash + which has a 5% back on fast food. So I’m wondering what dining means.
I opened an Amex gold last October, an auto loan early January (almost paid off), and a BCE about a month ago, which apparently hasn’t reported yet. I was just approved for a United Explorer card yesterday, and I didn’t realize that my BCE hadn’t reported to the bureaus yet before I applied. Should I be concerned about that? I do have another card with Chase, which has been open for about 7 years.
To answer this - I applied $4k to the card for downpayment and nobody had any issues. Ended up meeting the welcome bonus, which this contributed to (plus the 4k normal points that the transaction got). Bing bang boom
Chase (and most issuers right now) are pretty shutdown happy -- especially if you have high utilization. You might need to carve room to get approved: www.asksebby.com/blog/why-you-should-consider-lowering-your-chase-credit-card-limits If you want to talk strategy: www.asksebby.com/free-card-consultation
@@AskSebby Thank you so much Sebby. Really appreciate and like all your videos and advice. Have been so helpful. In the end, I decided to just move onto the Amex Hilton Surpass card and come back to Chase in 2022.
Sebby... I got brilliant credit score its perfect !!! But PayPal wouldn't re-open my account for more then 10 years ??? Will I be banned for ever on PayPal??? PayPal are independent ???
Sebb- Is someone able to apply for the Amex Marriott Card as well as the Chase Marriott Card? If approved for both, will they get both bonuses, and will the membership accounts be combined? Thanks!
One Lane Rule (you can check the terms to confirm): www.asksebby.com/blog/rules-to-know-for-chase-marriott-and-amex-spg-cards-signup-bonus-restrictions
CSR or Citi Prestige? It's a REALLY open ended question ("what's the best fish"). If you want to talk more long-term strategy: www.asksebby.com/free-card-consultation
Im from canada so couldnt fill out the survey my bad lol, yeah i have the amex platinum and dont know if its good to go for the CSR unless if you think it is then ill pull the trigger for it. Amex is just not accepted as much anywhere so its a bit of a doozy.
Hey Sebby, we talked a week ago about my 2 Discover cards that where around 50% utilization and my limits where cut in half. I have payed one of them down to 0 balance and now i'm working on the other 1. At what point will Discover increase my limit or would i have to request an increase once the economy stabilize? Thanks
I have 50cents in my account every month for years. I have direct deposit for my social security check. 780 a month an they gave me their card with 10,500 limit after 3years
Mel M I do get comments from servers when I use my Amex Platinum. When I paid a bill the other day one of my friends told the server to expect to run my credit card twice (as a joke), she told him “I don’t worry when someone hands me a Amex Plat card”.
So I was a straight up idiot and carried 99% utilization on my 11 accounts for a few years now, I am finally getting my shit together and aggressively paying off all the debt I have. Does this mean I am pretty much guaranteed to have my accounts shut down as soon as I pay them off? Anything I can do to avoid it?
Why do RU-vidrs always ask you to "thumbs up" the video before they've even started the content? What am I thumbing up? Just that they've posted a video?
Liking a video manipulates the youtube algorithm so that his channel will show up on more people's recommended videos list. It's all about them trying to get more views.
Standard behavior on the platform as part of the intro. Example: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Nev2t5R1TeY.html A bit different but think about why people ask, "how are you doing" to start an interaction. Outside of close friends/family, the person asking (i.e., taking your food order) doesn't actually care. In America (the "platform" in this case) it's a normal ask. In other countries ("platforms") this is a extremely weird ask.
I get that it’s better for a video when people give a thumbs up, but why ask at the beginning when I haven’t even heard the video content, rather than at the end when I’m more compelled to hit the thumbs up because I liked what I heard?
Kerry Buchanan yeah I used to feel like that too. But there are certain you tubers I now automatically click like. Sebby, Graham and a few others. They make their money on RU-vid and the videos give value. Since it cost me no money and I am pretty sure these guys will give information in an entertaining way, I just click like. If I don’t like it after watching, I go back and click dislike and complain. 😀🤣. I only complain on my favorite channels otherwise I unsubscribe and dislike.
To clarify, the CTR is only gonna be for a 10,000 cash deposit, and it’s only gonna affect you if the money is actually dirty. If you deposit a 100,000 dollar check or something it’s likely just gonna be the normal clearing process.
@@MaddMan621 Wow, that isn't true! Many legitimate businesses have had their money confiscated for no good reason, then had to sue the government to get it back.
