I had so many lessons from professional teachers, and none of them explain so beautifully and clearly all the components of a professional golf swing as Michelle shows on her RU-vid videos. You are a blessing to the whole Golf community. Thank you so very much!
More than 40 years of golfing, I have suffered from the early extension resulting in slice. Michele, I appreciate your simple and clear lesson on the causes and fix methods. It's the number 1 lesson I've ever met. Greetings from Korea 🍒🍓🍅
Must admit this lady can flat out explain (and show) swing flaws and the cause and effect of same with simple drills that work in mind and body Would gladly take a lesson with her before many of the other you tube "gurus".
thanks Michelle. Excellent. I drive (max) 270 yards (ok for a 68 year old) and cannot improve. This is the first time i have been made aware that this is exactly my problem. Well explained. I instantly recognised my problem from your explanation. Thanks Schaun
Wow! Thanks Michelle for this approach once our weather here in the UK improves I'll take this up to the club range and try it out as it certainly sounds just what I need for advice! I'm 74 and just recovering from a broken right ankle so the flared right foot and the wedge drill for me as a right hander is really, really interesting me! Kind Regards, John🙂
GREAT video - thank you very much!! Watched it yesterday - played this morning and hit fourteen (14) greens in regulation. Dispersion was much improved. Thanks again.
only extend AFTER the impact. Wow these key words are eye opener !!! That did it for me at the range this morning. First time in 15 years that i truly have a divot rather than a chunk, more or less. At first it was hard due to to old habit. But i forced my self at least 3 air swings before a committed one. 2 large buckets and 5 hours later it started to show some consistancy. 2 Swing thoughts/feel: 1. Hip rotates no latteral slide 2. Stay down until 2nd parallel. Alot other things to work on but i hope this drill will become new habit. Thank YOU Michelle. Really.
Salamat paggi Michele. I had a plethora of problems, all of which I now know were related to being across the line. This was really only noticible in driver because of the longer shaft. I played fairly high level recreational golf for years with this making compensation such as described but I was unaware that inconsistencies were a result of chain reaction you described ultimately extending early and flipping . Fixed my cupped wrist. Worked on backswing. No more issues, better ball flight, distance and accuracy. Now I can actually work on improving my game Nobody ever told me about the squat test. It should be the first thing checked! You are,as usual, the best many many thanks for helping us understand WHY things happen. The problem isn't early extension but the reasons for same. As I said, you are the best. Thanks
Been struggling with this for a year, tried all the drills. FINALLY - @5.54 the "flare the foot" drill. Just tried it at range, game changer. Thanks MLG.
Have been struggling with early extension for years and the tip of keeping your right foot planted on the ground is golden! Nothing has worked so well!
Well done....Interesting video. I have no issues with squatting and ankle mobility. Also, do not have the technical swing issues you demonstrated in your video. However, I have early extention where my hands are high at impact. After several efforts to fix early extension, I found a solution. Basically, my pelvis must remain in a neutral position during the backswing and at impact, as opposed to an anterior position, which seems to be the issue of several amateur golfers. A neutral pelvis and engaged abs will assist your butt in moving back without forcing your body to move your butt back, preventing early extension.
Were you watching me today? So on point!. I couldn't figure it out. This is exactly what I slipped into doing. Thank you from 1/2 way around the world in New Orleans.
Michele’s instruction is even better than Ric Shield and other PGA pros. Everyone has their swing style. Understand the basics and swing as comfortably as you can. Michele is the best! Keep up the good work.
Is this a fact or your opinion? The physical limitations which some people have prevents them from staying in a "correct" posture. If, in what I've worked on to help me fix this, they would start in a taller posture it would allow them to get their left side back behind them and give them more room for the arm and club to travel through on the down swing. My "opinion" based on my learning experience.
That is one of my bad habits. I am attempting to increase power and distance but finish up with early extension without realising. Now I understand after seeing your advice, thanks Michelle.
Wow, I didn't realize that this is what causes this type of swing error. I will now be mindful of this simple but significant mistake and drills to fix it! Good explanation Michele!
Michele I just wanted to say thank you. I’ve watch a couple of your other videos on hitting fairway woods and putting. The last two times I have golfed I brought my first score to 90 and my second score to 98. This is great for me and I love watching your videos. Thanks again for your help.
@@michelelowgolf7501 Dear Michele, thank you for your reply. I'm a hopeless amateur golf player that with your videos did huge progress. I hope one day, or when Covid will not be a global issue, to come to K.L for a holiday and have direct lessons. Take care and keep going.
As soon as you defined early extension as standing up before impact I immediately recognized myself in my videos. I think that it is crucial to identify the problem very precisely before you can address it. I have literally looked at hundreds of videos and this is the first one to define the problem clearly. Thank you!.
Thanks so much Michele, your lessons are so clearly structured and easy to understand. Starting golf can be frustrating but your lessons make it more achievable and simple.
Got into some bad swing habits during covid lockdown last year trying to get more distance practicing at home. When driving ranges and courses finally opened, early extension and the dreaded shank crept in on shots. Had to get lessons to correct as so frustrating but the Wall Drill (instructor put golf bag back behind me) finally corrected. Needed this video last year, LOL. Keep up the good videos.
I didn't use to early extend but about 3 years ago I started. I was a 4 handicap and right now float between a 8 and a 12 handicap. It very frustrating when you were a good golfer and your friends know it. They want to help and just watch me struggle through a round. The worst thing in the world is hitting the ball left and right. I can feel when it happens. I've been working with Chase Butler at George Bryan Golf Academy. We worked on shorting up by back swing with a better hip rotation but overall the backswing looks good. I work on hamstring and calf stretching to keep my lower back in good shape. The main drills I use are something under my right foot and an alignment stick touching my butt slightly through impact. I feel like I have to keep a quiet lower body but that's not the way it looks on video. I'll have to include the foot flare out drill and more squat stretching. I'm gonna have to include that and see if it helps. It gets better everyday and my early extension is dramatically improved. Great video. Thanks!
@@michelelowgolf7501 It worked! I made better ball contact, higher smash factor and I gained 10 - 15 yards with my 7 iron instantly. Now all my irons are up 1 club.
3 of 3 vlogs I've watch...are substance, Educating the brain and physical aspects of the swing. Correcting the issue by first explaining "Why it is happening"; Then drills / skills training; Before attacking the course; Excellent. One particular point Michele made, that everyone should latch onto....her point was to not change your mind...it was to change the way you think...."you don't lift your". How many time has someone told you or you said..."keep your head down". You don't lift your head....actually try taking a full speed phantom swing and lift your head....Good luck. You lose your posture or as Michele has so aptly put it....You 'Extend to early"
Damn. What an explanation. I have been working with a professional instructor. He identified the exact same issue with me. And my goodness, it's a lot of work to get it right. Especially getting older and less flexible. Keep up the awesome videos. Appreciate it
Great explanation, Michele. When I first saw the subject of the video, I mistook it for an early release, but you explained early extension very well. I can't wait to get to the range tomorrow and work on this. I also appreciate how you take the time to respond to so many comments! You now have a new subscriber.
I always overextend myself. Especially watching golf RU-vid videos. : / Michelle keeps my swing consistent as I like to Duff and Hack with a couple of Top shots right in front of the clubhouse (1st Tee). Been working on my pitching/putting drills from your other vids. Amazing results! Keep it up. Wish you were in USA for a private lesson and some complimentary PXG clubs for me and custom fit... Oh well dare to dream! Cheers 🍻 Keep it up Michelle.
