Thank you this video helped me with setting up a used projector so bought that the picture was off and I got it even now. Thank you again for your video
That is not what keystone correction is for. You should level one corner of your projector perfectly before applying optical keystone correction. Specifically the corner nearest the lens. Optical keystone correction will fix the blur caused by the lens not being in the dead center of the screen, not cause bluring.
Your comment looks particularly helpful to my situation. Just to be clear, are you saying that I should set one corner to fit perfectly, while the manual Keystone manual dial is in the middle, right??? And then I should use the manual dial to try to get it closer to correct? And then I at the end I should should use the electronic keystone to fine tune it?
@@paulinquebec Exactly. Put the projector in the best possible position by making the corner nearest the lens as perfect as possible. Then apply any optical correction available until it is as perfect as possible. And finally apply digital correction as a last resort. A tiny bit of keystoning might make a better picture than one that has been digitally corrected. Especially if the resolution of the media you are projecting matches the resolution of the physical projector parts. If you are projecting something that is 1080 from a projector with a 1080 LCD (for instance) the digital correction will undo the perfect match. And minimal keystoning might be preferable to the image degradation caused by the digital keystone correction.
What's the difference between Keystone correction and lens shift? From what I read online Lens shift is the manual correction you did here while Keystone is digital correction. And people on projector forums say keystone correction is even worse than lens shift. Can you make a video where you discuss this in details please?
That is electronic 'digital' keystone correction. It is similar in function to electronic 'digital' zoom. Basically it reduces the width of the image element used to produce the image (and the number of pixels) at the top or bottom of the image. True optical zoom and keystone correction does not have those problems.
I have a Viewsonic px747-4k and the left side isn't straight. I only have vertical keystone correction and it's driving me mad! Projector is on top of boxes
exactly my experience. I have the 2023 Jifar H6 which has an inlet air filter, and a very decent bright picture with manual keystone. Since the projector sits on a living room, table, it is lower than the screen on the wall. I leave it as a slight trapezoid to keep the focus good all around the edges. If I make the keystone adjustment to square the image, it throws off the focus and cannot be adjusted clear all across the screen. So I live with a slight trapezoiding and actually it does not detract from the movie at all. So electronic controlled keystone, does that keep the image square and in perfect focus?? or only for some models, like are some auto keystoning images great and some not so great.
Make the projector as level and as inline as possible with the projection screen or wall. Only use keystone as a last measure when you've used up all other possibilities.. Not using keystone will result in a sharper clearer picture.. The same applies to digital keystone which basically crops and adjusts the image losing many pixels along the way.. Badly out of whack set up 1080p native projector could be losing half the potential resolution.. I've got a native 720p projector sat on a cabinet 11 foot away from the gray wall I project onto and get an excellent 105 inch diagonal image. Many people are amazed at the picture quality and when I tell them it's a cheap 90 pound Chinese made projector thats set up properly they're doubly amazed. At the distance the image is watched from 10-12 foot away, a 1080p native wouldn't be any better.. Don't forget the cinema generally uses slightly more than 1080p and its projected onto a 20 plus foot screen, but the distance you are sat at means it still looks nice sharp and clear
Mirrors! A possible method that removes keystone correction is facing your projector 90 degrees away from target and placing a mirror in front of the projector with mirror positioned directly in line with center of room and pointing mirror at target, in which case no keystone correction is needed and looks crisp. For mirror should buy first surface mirror, as there will be no glass in front to produce artifact.
I have a miniprojector with keystone correction, and it works very well if the product is aligned with the projection, instead with android I can manually correct the image corner by corner, and with this function I can position the miniprojector where I want it is the image is always rectangular or square... now if anyone knows a way to have this function even with the hdmi cable it would be great!?
Hey, how do you have this king of corner by corner adjust on android? Is it an external app or native function of your projector? My projector has only vertical keystone adjust, I'm searching (with no sucess till now) for an app to ajust corners on android an solve my problem...
@@jonassousa2228 Helll, he's native... Damn. .. If only I could save the settings and keep them when I switch to cable mode that would be the best... That's Crazy Cool functionality
@@jonassousa2228 hello I wanted to point out this application to you, I have not tried it completely because it is infinite trudy complete. However for a short time I tried and found this function... The software is called ISaDORA, look here on the tube you will find a lot of information from a very good old man... I hope it works... Let me know... Have a nice day bro!
Hi i am from Surat India . Great content. I have a quick question. Could you please check and tell me if Epson projector 3800 , if i would be using ertical lens shift , would it compromise the image quality? Also does the image quality compromise if the projector is mounted to it's 'farthest away' distance - from the screen , (110 inch diagonal)?
I never used Keystone before, that because my brain tells me a head of time why it's a bad thing to do. Also digital keystone is as bad, thought you and others would like to know.
Hey dude love your channel. I'm going to make a video review as soon as my new Projector arrives, do you still think the m18/v600 is the best buy for mild gaming and cinema nights? It's not going to be my main screen just used for the above on a white wall at 3m30cm. Also, mind me referring to your channel when I do my review?
I disagree on VP8 Keystone actually got the image sharper the type of screen material you are using isnt that allowing light leakage out the back? I use a screen with a solid back background with no light leakage.
