To do a proper pull test you need to lock the trailer brakes then pull ahead slightly.

Correct - my fingers were on the brake controller but I did forget to mention that in the video - thanks for bringing it to everyones attention.

U should have checked air pressure on the spare tire. The main sut off for the unit should have been in the compartment in front.

Gotta be careful with that bed rail clearance. Looks like you only have 5" or so, and I like to have 7" if possible. Highway only you'll be fine, but it's when you go thru dips while turning that you could hit the trailer.

Ok Mark...what are they talking about inside the unit? And if it had to do with transporting illegal substances, then nevermind. Haha

I happen have this exact model on order being built this week lol, only thing I'd say is leave your tailgate open during your tug test I've seen what happens when the hitching fails and the kingpin gets jammed into the tailgate. Not fun to deal with! keep up the great work y'all!
@TheRiverstoneLife
@TheRiverstoneLife 7 месяцев назад
Great point.. I usually do that but this truck was too big for the fifth wheel and the tailgate was touching it when it was down so that’s why it was up. Thank for the feedback and thank you for watching!

Great video. Its best to take pictures before you hook up. And show in the pictures you are not connected. Easier to get good pictures of the front. Most important they cant come back and say you damaged it while hooking up.

Actually, I did take a bunch of the pictures before I even backed up to it. But I was trying to show some in the video. Thanks for the comment and I appreciate you watching the video

I’m a little worried that breakaway cable will get caught on your toolboxes and get pulled on a turn.

Yes I have been watching it on this trip and yes it’s a concern of mine as well. Thanks for commenting! We may have to make a change.

Good stuff. I retired in November 2005, got bored by early December 2005 ,and transported my first RV in late December, 2005. I guess I liked it because I continued until COVID. I have pretty much done all forms ( single load/ haul and tow/ semi/ Shipshe trailer, some drive-away) and have done it as both owner operator and company driver. I am now fully retired and not bored! I’ll enjoy watching your travels and seeing familiar places! One quick question. With single load, are you now required to use electronic logs, or are paper logs still ok?

@jamesmowat1397 thanks for sharing your story with us! Congratulations for being fully retired and not bored - that is AWESOME! The log books are on an app called Motive Driver. Btw thanks for commenting! 😊

when you do a tug test or a fifth wheel test to see if the unit is locked in place to the truck, you need to lock the trailer brakes with the truck trailer control.

Correct - my finger was on the brake controller but I did not state that in this video. Thanks for bringing it to my attention here - I forgot to mention that - appreciate your comment!
