Lived in Nashua, NH early this year and survived my first Snow Squall. I loved it and I’m definitely considering making it home soon.

High property taxes in southern NH. Also utilities especially heating oil is very expensive. Many residents travel route 93 or route 3 traveling to MA for decent taxed wages. Those highways are packed during rush hours. Potential residents beware.

NH Native here. Two things, first the minimum wage in southern NH where most everyone lives is at least $15/hr. The legal minimum wage is a joke and not applicable. Second, when yiou complain about speeding tickets and accidents at least use a picture from NH and not Massachusetts. Massholes infect our roads enough without showing them getting stopped in their own state.

Question about the winters. Even with the snowfall, do the roads stay pretty drivable? Are there good systems in place for plowing etc?
@LivinginNewHampshire
@LivinginNewHampshire 2 года назад
Absolutely, the state has great infrastructure in place to handle large snow storms. The highways are usually clear the day of the storm depending on the timing.

@curtisbilgray3615

It depends. If you try driving during a storm the roads are going to be every slippery and if you're not experienced with driving in the snow it can be scary and dangerous. But if you wait a few after the snow has slowed down or stopped the roads are usually pretty clear and sanded. But then there's black ice which people not from cold climate states do not know about.

3-4 months of winter? You must live in Southern NH....
@scarhastic1215
@scarhastic1215 2 года назад
If you live in southern New Hampshire, you won’t have to worry about the snow too much. Everyone is like “6 months in the year the ground is covered in snow and it never gets above 50 degrees even in the summer”. In reality only 3 months out of the year it snows and whenever it does snow, it ends up only being an inch or less. Then it melts a day later. We had an 80 degree day in November and last summer, besides all the days we had rain, it was 95 degrees every day from May to September. The cold you here about in New Hampshire only takes place in the north.
@LivinginNewHampshire
@LivinginNewHampshire 2 года назад
I disagree, as I'm writing this Southern NH is receiving 12 inches + today into tomorrow morning. We've already had a number of storms thus far and temps have been very low this winter. There's been multiple morning/afternoon in the single digits or below zero. (That is in Southern New Hampshire.) If 50-60 inches of snow over a 3 month period isn't a lot then winters should be a breeze.

We NEED trade people in NH. I live in Portsmouth and if you are an electrician, Heating/Cooling technician,, plumber, handyman, remodeler...You could make a really good living. Not enough tradesmen, seemingly, to go around. Looks like they are going to continue to build condos, also, everywhere that they can develop.
@rjvalentini

I get tradesmen are in high demand, I'm wondering about what happens when there's too much snow or it's too cold out. Does construction stop? Is it seasonal? NJ winters aren't that bad and I work through the winter but sometimes here we have to shut everything down. So I'm wondering how it works up there?
