I'm 54 and my wife and I are VERY worried about our future, gas and food prices rising daily. We have had our savings dwindle with the cost of living into the stratosphere, and we are finding it impossible to replace them. We can get by, but can't seem to get ahead. My condolences to anyone retiring in this crisis, 30 years nonstop just for a crooked system to take all you worked for.

I feel your pain mate, as a fellow retiree, I’d suggest you look into passive index fund investing and learn some more. For me, I had my share of ups and downs when I first started looking for a consistent passive income so I hired an expert advisor for aid, and following her advice, I poured $30k in value stocks and digital assets, Up to 200k so far and pretty sure I'm ready for whatever comes.

My great grandparents left Tennessee in the early 1840s. They were anti slavery and moved to California by covered wagon. When I was considering applying to the University of the South in Sewanee, my relatives were adamant in their disagreement with my choice. They said that TN hadn’t really changed, it would be like stepping back in time, and absolutely the wrong environment for learning. As it was, the best public university in the country was a few miles from our home and my years at Cal Berkeley changed my life in a wonderful way . That was fifty years ago. I saw Spanish moss on a visit to SC and am satisfied with that.

I've lived in TN my entire life. Yes we are religious, but we don't push our beliefs on others. No, we don't like being told what to do. But we don't tell others what to do or how to live. We are extremely welcoming, but that doesn't mean that we put up with trespassers. We like our privacy and space and definitely will defend both. Yes, we have a lot of guns. We mainly have guns for hunting, sport, hobbies, and protection. We don't run around shooting people or up in the air like the wild west. We are extremely responsible with gun safety and take being responsible gun owners very seriously. We treat everyone in our communities equally whether you are rich, middle class, or poor. No judgement here. The older generations are a little more set in their ways more so than the younger generations, but all are welcoming. We don't tolerate liars, thieves, abusers, or judgemental people. Also don't litter here. We take pride in keeping our communities and our forests clean. We enjoy being helpful and helping those in need. Things you might want to avoid are debating religions and politics. We don't really care how you live as long as you're not hurting others around you. We are fiercely protective over our children, families, and friends. We have core values that we stick to concerning those matters. As for the weather, we basically experience all four seasons. We do tend to have wet snows, hot summers, beautiful fall colors, and unpredictable springs. TN is a great place to live if you're raising a family down to if you're on your own. We look out for and take care of our neighbors. We have something for everyone. It's a wonderful place to live! I was the first in my family to be born in TN (on my mother's side). My family (from my mother's side) came down from PA, NJ, and NY. I would spend some summers up north, but I always missed being home. My father's side of the family have been here for a very long time, traced back for many generations. TN just gives me piece of mind, makes me feel safe, and excepted. Plus the food is ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!

I have lived in Middle Tennessee and parts of East Tennessee all my life, 59 now. The only thing that has changed are the roads and a lot more people moving in from other states. We have four seasons here 4 months of spring 3 months of Summer 5 months of fall usually. We do have snow six to eight times a year it doesn't last very long in most cases a day or two. About every 10 years we'll get a good 8 to 10 inches of snow. There is a lot of lakes and rivers and streams here to fish or paddle, and tons of places to hike. Property is starting to get much more pricey than just 5 years ago still affordable ,much cheaper to build than existing homes. I've seen Nashville or middle Tennessee bring in a lot of big companies that pay very well wages I think that's one of the biggest draws here. Bridgestone, Nissan, GM, tons of it companies, of course the Tennessee Titans and the predators hockey and soon to open this spring the new Nashville soccer club and stadium. Private schools are much better than the other schools but there are some good magnet schools some private schools are actually affordable. Great hospitals you have Vanderbilt ,St Thomas, Centennial some of the best cancer hospitals and heart hospitals in the nation. We are very conservative here but there's also room for your own opinion as long as you don't push it on us we won't push it on you. So pack your stuff get to stepping be a Volunteer!!!!!!

I grew up in Nashville and I have seen it change and not always for the better. The price of housing is horrendous and lots of native Nashvillians have moved away because of this and in turn those areas are now getting out of hand when coming to the price to rent or buy. I see a lot of out of state tags and not always on the interstate and I can honestly say a lot of these folks do not know how to drive or even read a sign. A lot of our natural scenery has been lost to new subdivisions which also makes for more traffic. Much respect for bringing up that yes we are very conservative and love our Second Amendment rights. A few years back I worked for a company that did promotions for Providence Marketplace in Mt Juliet TN. I am from Minnesota so we took a road trip and stayed in Nashville at an Air BNB. The first thing I noticed about our time in TN was how friendly everyone was. People in my state always say “Minnesota nice” but we are not really that nice. My neighbors occasionally wave but are also extremely critical of everything from our dogs barking to our fence to my 13 year old trick or treating. So TN impressed me with their true friendliness. In addition, the state is very pretty! Entering TN I fell in love with the natural surroundings. Nashville is a lot different than other parts of the state that are more rural. People drive a bit crazy on the freeway which was maybe my only complaint. I want to spend a week looking at different neighborhoods because Minnesota has become so terrible with masking, lockdowns, and liberal bs that I just want to scream. I’m really conservative so I am losing my patience for this state. It would be hard to leave behind family but we could always visit. I’m tired of the politics and snow so I’d welcome giving TN a try.

You forgot to tell em about the purple paint law. If you see purple paint on trees,fences or on the property line. It means the owner will use deadly force. Do not tresspass on property like this TN castle law goes to the property line as long as it marked by purple paint. They only need one sign that says no tresspassing as long as purple paint is on trees, fence, along the property line. So for those that also like to hunt, fish don't assume open land is public land it probably owned by someone. TN property owners are very pro property rights. For you golfers don't assume an empty lot you can use to drive on someone probably owns it. I bring this up because a lot of California have been arrested on my land thinking they could do this. Not sure why folks think they can just go on someone land and do what they want then cry when they get arrested. I have had hunters arrested thinking they could just hunt on my ranch/farm/land. I have had golfer thinking they can use my land that I use for cattle, soy, corn other crops as a driving range. Do you realize how much damage a golf ball can do when a farm equipment comes in contact with it. All of these folks I have had arrested and held at gun point in the past 10 years or more all usually with in a year of moving to TN. Respect other folks property. If you don't pay the property tax of the property you have no right to use it with out owners permission and you better get it in written other wise law enforcement will always take the word of of the property owner. Also some driveways are long almost like a road but it a driveway. Again learn the area and do not blindly follow gps device or phone. Just cause it looks like a road yet the signs says private drive does not mean you get to use it. Keep in mind 9 out of 10 TN resident own firearms. Most TN property owners are generous but ask seek permission to use their land Do not just think you can just go on to property to hunt or use it because it open. If it fenced don't hop the fence or cattle wire fencing might just might be in the cattle pasture with a very large bull.

As someone that just moved to TN a couple of months ago from CA I can say that your presentation is pretty much right on. I researched the entire US to determine where I wanted to retire and TN ended up being my choice. I purchased 2 acres out in the country about one hour south of Nashville. My property taxes are $1,000.00 per year. My .9 acre property in CA was $9k per year. I registered 4 of my vehicles in TN for a total of $220.00 compared to $2,500.00 in CA per year. Additionally I just changed auto insurance and for the exact same policy & coverages I saved $1,200.00 per year. Additionally food is cheaper at restaurants and at the grocery store. Besides the obvious cost savings I love the people, the privacy, and the beautiful rolling hills. I also love the weather. We have had days in November in the mid 70's which is warmer then the weather in Nor Cal. Only small down side for me is the bugs are no joke as he mentioned in the video. However, I will be ready next spring and will spray around the property which should help that.

It's a much better place to raise a family, my husband (a chef) is making a ton at an award winning restaurant, and we have been able to come out of the closet about being conservative. We found a great, top rated elementary school where our daughter is thriving. Our second child was born here. We have found wonderful parks and hiking trails, family activities and new friends. Well, you asked for a comment, so you're getting one. Speaking as a Native American, a native Nashvillian, and someone who has little tolerance for intentional ignorance, BS, or bigotry, it's not all peaches and cream when you are a member of a minority, and some people definitely get rude and do not mind their own business when you are different from them. When speaking in our native language to a relative or fellow tribal member in private conversation, there are people who make it their business to butt in and tell us that we need to "speak English" or "speak American", followed up with "go back where you came from"... and then get indignant when told to mind their own business and that this is where we come from and have been for tens of thousands of years... and the inevitable "Well, my great-grandma was a Cherokee princess..." as if that unsubstantiated claim gives them some sort of justification to be rude and nosy. Oh, and FYI, Tennessee is from the Cherokee Tanasi-yi, meaning "the place where the river bends" and was the name of one of our principle towns along the Tennessee River up above Chattanooga (also a Cherokee place name). At its height when the first white explorers came through, it had well over 100K citizens, extensive agricultural fields, and was a center for trade. RE: gun rights. When you're not white and your redneck meth-head, 3rd generation welfare moochers, and career criminal neighbors frequently trespass, poach, harass your livestock, and get caught stealing from you, you do NOT have the right to defend yourself or your property, and if you do so, YOU are the one who goes to jail, so apparently gun rights/2nd Amendment/property rights don't apply to those of us who are not Caucasian. I had to resort to getting some of my fresh-out-of-the-military younger cousins to give said trespassing miscreants a beating they'd have to get better to die from. Come to think of it, that actually got the point across far better than the cops or the courts because they haven't been back since. They also stopped throwing bottles, trash, and cuss words at my grandkids while they waited at the barnyard gate for the school bus. Nevertheless, both grandkids have target practice weekly, and my 12 yr old granddaughter is a better shot than a lot of grown men. MOST people in Nashville are pretty nice, but some of the people moving into Tennessee become the worst offenders in regards to their attitudes towards us of the nonwhite persuasion, and in fact feel free to engage in levels of rudeness and hostility that those of us raised with manners are appalled at and do not deserve to be treated with. If you're moving here to get away from "other" people... well, we're here and not going anywhere. Mind your own business, mind your manners, follow the Golden Rule, and we'll all get along.

@allisonshaw9341
@allisonshaw9341 2 года назад
@@over50fab20 I grew up here and while such rudeness is rare, it happens from time to time. Nashville is very diverse and we really benefit from that. It's the outer areas where most of the negative incidents happen. There's nothing like stopping at a little diner or gas station in some little town after picking up a new heifer or other purchase and having people eye you instead of returning your wave, and then local law enforcement shows up, notes that you're open-carry, and asking for your ID and permit... especially when we no longer need to have a permit for carrying firearms. I DO have a permit that I took gun safety classes, passes an exam, and paid for and I keep it current (we have that nifty driver's license/handgun permit all in one card). Usually, law enforcement is professional, I will give them that. Most of the time, they actually apologize for the intrusion after seeing that everything is in order, and if my grandkids are with me, compliment the kids on their manners, ask my 15 yr old 6'1" grandson if he plays football, or my 12 yr old 5'9" granddaughter if she plays basketball. We talk about fishing, hunting, or farming, too. Then again, you get the people who move here from out west and seem dismayed that there's "Injuns" here, albeit not as many as out there, and proceed to treat us per their stereotypes/prejudices. As my grandmother used to tell us, there are always going to be idiots out there who can't see past their own eyes and miss out on all the good things about the rest of us.

While there are indeed problems with insects (mosquitos, ticks, etc), it is something that I have gotten used to. Freedom of thought and the right to bear arms are important factors in why I love this state so much. Request that new movers to our state get a history book. You feel more connected and understand where you're living if you know the history of it...it's people...it's culture...values...etc.

Moving to Nashville on the 1st of the month and already from the south (Austin, TX) so everything you said, I CAN HANDLE ❤💯 I appreciate this video tho because it’s very reassuring and informative. I’m 24 y/o looking to establish myself and get on my feet in a great, positive environment.

Austin and Nashville are one and the same these days, shit holes that are nothing like the state's reputation due to having been bought out and over ran by hostile outsiders.

Great video! My wife and I are moving to Knoxville towards the end of October from Orange County CA and are super excited. Very conservative so we'll fit right in!!!!

We’re from Orange County also. Ladera Ranch. Ready to make the move. Just waiting on my youngest son the finish his senior year in HighSchool. So tired of this Democrat run state.

@@mikerizzle1 Good for you! I'm in Stanton and you can't even try not seeing the trash and tents popping up everywhere. Can't do this blue state any longer.

I am very much for teaching young people gun safely as years ago a next door neighbor was messing with what he and his friend thought it was empty. The neighbor boy lost his life. My husband got a gun safety program set up for the kids in the area so that never happened again.

Tennessee is a wonderful place to live, in my humble opinion East Tennessee is the best part of our state. We love living in Sevier County, even with the traffic. 🙃

I moved to TN from RI to get away from being forced to take the jab. I now go to church, and I carry a gun. Tennessee saved my life. Love the freedom here and will always vote red here to keep our freedoms. God bless this state.

I love TN. This is where MiMi and Papap work at chain stores and restaurants and give you hugs and sweet genuine smile. TN is the buckle of the BIBLEBELT. Like TX, FL, WY, WV,OK,ND and ID..TN is one of the most conservative states in USA.
