Getting a Blackstone for Father's Day and have been browsing RU-vid for pointers so I don't screw it up too badly - I've got a wife and daughter who are very much looking forward to some Blackstone recipes, and I just wanted to say that I love your guys' positive energy! Thanks for the great tips!
My Father's Day griddle never arrived (thanks alot to whatever thief works at FedEx. Jerk!) But I started working part-time at Walmart on weekends and looky there, the 28-inch on the shelf! I've done smashburgers, fat burgers, just did my first breakfast cook this week. But the star cook was my shrimp and chicken fried rice and salmon. I used you guys' cooks as a guide and my mom and daughter raved about it. Thank you!!! Also this week at work a couple came in wanting to buy the Expert Grill Walmart sells. My coworker just so happened to ask me if I could help them move it. Long story short I talked them into the Blackstone by raving about mine (unintentionally lol). And I told them to make sure to find you guys on RU-vid. Griddle On!!
Haha! That is all so awesome! We’re so happy it ended up working out for you, and thank you so much for the support, and for sending more peeps out way, we so much appreciate it! Take care and GRIDDLE ON FAM!🤙🤙🔥🔥
We've used this griddler for a variety of items including steak, fish, vegetables ru-vid.comUgkxMcXT6_MuT0hB3ejyGQQHaeof9bwoWPUf and mushrooms and it's been great! Gets that great smokey flavor when using high heat or sear. The grill works amazingly simple and very low smoke for what it is. Heat gets up fairly quick, especially on closed position. The griddler side is fairly simple, better for eggs and pancakes rather than any cooking. Use the flat plates with the grill side if needed.Cleanup is easy and having heat on both sides is great for cooking a large amount or panini press. This definitely gets hot though so be careful with the sides.
Did a London broil on my 22” black stone … Score sliced the top n bottom Little seasoning and then Medium heat under the dome .. Then seared at the end bringing the heat .. Was great sliced on tortillas w avocado
Hey Guys! Yes you can do London Broil on the Blackstone. One of my favorite things to cook. Marinate the meat for a while or overnight, cook on high temp and cover it. Turn it every couple of minutes and I like to brush the left over marinade on top each time after I flip. Cook to 135 degrees which does not take to long. Obviously let it rest for a couple of minutes before slicing. I found it works best to find meat that is even thickness. Sam's Club usually has good ones. Enjoy!
No way! Thank you! That was a half joke, but now we gotta give it a go - we are totally gonna do this, and then call ourselves out for doubting!😂😂. Thank you so much man, it’s on our list!! 🤙🤙🔥🔥. GRIDDLE ON!!
Yep! I’ve done one as well. Just make sure you use a temperature probe during the cook. I use the electronic Char -Broil brand from Walmart. Great way to keep tabs on your internal temperature while cooking.
I did have rust... just one spot in back right corner on the side wall, but I attacked it violently and make sure to always give it a bit more oil. I think another important piece of advice is to USE YOUR GRIDDLE often. The more you use it the better the seasoning will get and the less likely that you'll get actual rust.
BOOM! This! We have also had rust, but we found that new griddles it is typically the oil. Rust is no fun, but so good to know we can take the rust out, thank you for the tip brother!!🔥🔥🤙🤙
Fellas! Thank You for this post as my wife had our kitchen ripped out and a new fancy shmancy kitchen put in. All I had to do is keep my mouth shut and stay away from the work as my contractor is amazing! I now own a two burner Camp Chef stove and a flat top grill which turned out to be so fantastic and fun to use, however,?The more I cook on my Flat top grill the more I don’t understand exactly how to use it………………………..😳!! Your post help a lot! Thank You!!
Haha, that is awesome! We absolutely love flat top cooking! If you have any questions, for sure reach out! Good luck with the new setup fam! Take care and GRIDDLE ON!🤙🤙🔥🔥
One other bit of advice that you guys gave a while back. Don't buy small. No one has ever bought a 36" griddle and said gosh I wish I didn't get this big. Now that I have a 17"...gosh I want a bigger one. LOL Fun problem to have. Griddle on!
Why do I feel I can pick both of you up and give you guys a bear hug. Maybe its cause I'm 6'6", who knows! I still have 4 little at home and they are my runners lol. Great job as always! Wish you were in Utah, love to cook for you guys. Im trying a quesidilla taco tomorrow night. Crossing fingers it turns out good
Wahoo!! Heck yes brother!! Honestly, if we can get out to Utah next summer, we’re cooking together for sure, and we’re gonna make good on that bear hug!!!🤙🤙🔥🔥
Hey guys, this is a great video for us beginners! Also the bonus tip is good advice for life in general, “Don’t overthink it”! Have a great Labor Day weekend! 🍻
That is so true! And thank you so much for watching - we are all née at some point, and even for us, many of these tips took us too long to learn/figure out. So happy the help brother!! Stay safe and enjoy the Labor Day weekend!🔥🔥🔥🤙
I love your videos! My husband won’t go camping unless I cook him a good meal on the Blackstone. I pick something y’all have done, before every trip. He loves the surprise! Thank you for making it fun!
Yay! Thank you Bobbi, it was a long time coming, we just felt we needed to do this video before next season. There are a bunch more, but we tried to be concise…😂😂
I've owned a 36" Blackstone for about 10 years now. It has by far been one of my favorite methods of cooking. And yes, I am guilty of not checking my propane before starting to cook. Since the first time, I bought several extra tanks. I now own 5 propane tanks for several cooking systems, fryer, Blackstone, turkey fryer, gas grille, etc. I found your Hibachi grill video and have cooked that recipe for several years now. We do add a bit of Saki to our Hibachi grille along with a special Teriyaki/Korean Barbecue sauce. The Hibachi always gets rave reviews from my family. It has become a crowd cooking event. And yes, the children are great gofer's carrying things inside and outside. They love the (prestige) of being grandpas helpers. The fried rice on a Blackstone works out to be fabulous. We've done family "steak night"! Cooking all the steaks at one time for the entire family works out fantastic. My wife does the steaks on the Blackstone because she has that magic touch to be able to figure out rare, medium rare and medium by just gently pressing on the steaks. She cooks 18 to 20 steaks at one time. Works out very well! We cook large breakfast for the family, burgers, sausage, everything! And, the Blackstone cannot be beat for vegetable sauté. I found steam domes to be a bit pricey, so I just bought some cheap deep cake pans and added wood knobs. Yes, that beginners set of tools is great. I too use that scraper a lot. You fellas are great cooks and I love your videos. I love your enthusiasm and banter. It goes a long way to show you care about what you are doing. Thanks for your words of wisdom! Live long and "Griddle on Brothers"!
@@waltwins yeah however I've been having alot of problems with propane tanks lately that I've never had a problem with ever in my life and I don't understand why it's happening but I've had 2 this season that just after I've gotten it filled up and went to use I've ended having a vaporlocked valve
Great Video and Great advice my Brother's!! This was a much needed video for a lot of those new to the Blackstone Family!!! Always enjoy your vid's!!! Much Luv Fam!!! GRIDDLE ON!!!
GREAT ADVICE guys!! Y'all are so right about people saying that something shouldn't be cooked on the Blackstone and I am just like you guys..Challenge Accepted!!!! I love trying new things and techniques on the griddle, that is the fun of it!!
Haha! You got that right brother! You’ve been at it longer than we have, so you know all the goodies that can be handled on the Blackstone! So amazing!! Take care Butch and GRIDDLE ON!🤙🤙🔥🔥
Awesome! That’s what we figured when we did this video - unfortunately, a lot of the tips we didn’t realize until several month in (scratches are okay!🤦♂️) - so happy it helps fam!🤙🤙🔥🔥
Brand new to griddle cooking and so far love it .. I have cooked three times on it two successful cooks and one not so much 😂.. Love your positivity and good outlook on this type of cooking .. Great channel, fun and entertaining along with helpful advice and guidance . Thanks 🙏
All good advice, I myself love grape seed oil for cooking, high flash point but does not add any flavor to food, way cheaper than other oils, can’t believe people don’t use this oil
Thank you as always for watching and for chiming in! I will say though, we have a hard time getting grape seed oil in a large enough container at the store - canola/veggie oil are more accessible (not to mention still substantially cheaper than grape seed). That said, grape seed is an excellent option!🤙🤙
Wow, thank you so much for watching and for the kind words! We love this community and being able to share a passion of ours. Take care and GRIDDLE ON FAM!🤙🤙🔥🔥
Just bought a 36" and so glad I found your channel!!! Awesome positive video for someone who has always grilled and smoked but now is a new griddler... Keep up the great work, boys
Great advice video - I should just put a link to your video on every single Blackstone Griddle Facebook page post and it should take care of 99% of the questions. On the topic of multiple trips in and out... I always try and think of everything I need for a cook and bring them all out on some trays. Sometimes I will be standing in the kitchen staring into space thinking about anything I may have forgotten. Of course it never fails, it comes to me as soon as I walk outside. Oh, with propane tanks... I keep two extras. I have a gas grill and a fire table as well, so they can go fast. I really want to add a NG tap outside! The last tank that ran out on me was literally as I was cleaning the griddle off after a cook. I couldn't believe my luck - usually it happens during a cook and your realizing your fried rice isn't frying, lol! Anyway, great video guys, have a great week. Griddle On!
Haha! It always happens during, that’s for sure lucky to have it happen right after!😂😂. It seems that still, 80-90% of the time we forget something, no matter how much we fry not to!😜😜 Oh well, we still love it all! Much love brother, GRIDDLE ON!!🤙🤙🔥🔥
I’m obsessed with my blackstone! I’m in central florida as well with some health problems so I’ve only been able to cook about 9am before it gets too hot out, can’t wait for winter to cook all day everyday with y’all’s ideas!
Thank you guys for this clip. I've been griddling for 3 months now and still glean information from you. Why is Blackstone Betty and Todd Toven, etc connected to Blackstone and you guys are not? I subscribe to at least 25 sites about Blackstone or griddling in general. I enjoy your videos the most. The way you present it, your personalities, and the fun you guys have as twins. I don't have a twin, however, my wife is my "other" cook. We both enjoy you. GRIDDLE ON !!!
Haha! Oh wow Gary, thank you so much for the kind words - it means the world to us! We feel so fortunate to get to cook together, and even more so that we found the Blackstone! It’s amazing to have support like you all encouraging us to keep doing this. Thank you brother! GRIDDLE ON!🤙🤙🔥🔥
Hi guys I have used my Blackstone for a few years now BUT I only really started to use it never made anything but breakfast and burgers thanks to you guys I started making so many different things like salmon , pizza ,etc keep up what you are doing I love your videos I am learning a lot I want to try so much more . Cooking with the Blackstone is so much fun.
Wow, thank you so much for watching and for chiming in! We absolutely love cooking on the griddle and sharing what we learn along the way! Take care and GRIDDLE ON FAM!🤙🤙🔥🔥
Always good advice and ideas from you guys. Thank you two for “making” me buy a blackstone and having fun cooking on it with the family. My wife and boys have made comments numerous comments on how it’s the best (insert food here) they’ve ever had. I agree you can make amazing food on a blackstone. Normally your recipes or food on your videos and especially the smash burgers with the usual suspects. Thanks again for another helpful video! Be safe, stay humble and GRIDDLE ON!
Thank you fam!! We love that it’s been such an awesome experience for you and your family, just as it’s been for ours! We appreciate all of the kind words and love that we get to share these cooks - we promise much more to come! GRIDDLE ON FAM!🤙🤙🔥🔥
Oh awesome!! That’s a great unit from what we can tell, hopefully we can help with some ideas for cooking! We love griddle cooking and sharing what we learn. Take care and GRIDDLE ON!🔥🔥🤙🤙
I’m currently researching griddles and loving the Blackstone and what it can offer. Y’all’s Chanel is really helping. Y’all are awesome. Can’t wait to start griddling!!
Wow, thank you so much for the kind words! We absolutely love the Blackstone for sure - good luck in the hunt fam, let us know if you have any questions!🤙🤙🔥🔥
Thanks for your publication. I am seeing differences of opinion on your posting of smoke points on oil. For example, canola oil seems to be somewhat lower in reality than what is shown. Either way, I try to find the highest smoke point oil I can for seasoning which at this point seems to be avocado oil.
1ST time viewer and you guys are awesome! We're contemplating a Blackstone. Trying to learn more and this is a start! Thanks for your inspiration and advice. Really helps guys. wow. I'm going to share this with hubby.
You guys are awesome. So much information to soak in and learn because I'm new to this. You both are just great people and what I consider "Griddling Coaches"!
Tim! Drop and give us 10! Haha!!! We are here for you brother! Please don’t ever hesitate to reach out! We are on all social platforms. We got you! Griddle on!!!😁❤️🤙
I Love watching you guys. I have learned so much .. I do have to say my son's favorite thing to make on our griddle is sloppy Joe's. It's a bit messy but I tell you what it's a completely different experience then cooking it on the stove. Thanks guys you are awesome 😎
Thank you for the awesome tips on the does and don'ts. I just got my 36"black stone and Im just starting out with it..so thanks again for the awesome tips first time watcher and subscriber..thanks guys😎👍🏻
So much positive energy. I watched your seasoning and breakfast slop videos this morning, bought a blackstone 36" at noon, and had it assembled and seasoned in time for a great supper. Thanks!
One of the creative things I tried with my new 22” blackstone griddle was an Au Gratin potato casserole, baked in a casserole pan with a lid, on the griddle while I cooked a tri-tip roast next to it. Fresh green beans sautéed on the griddle while the meat rested, and done. Turned out fantastic!
Sautéed green beans are the only way I'll eat them other than raw. I'm a new Blackstone owner but I've been cooking on a flat top grill for about 11 years now. That's when I " Retired " and bought a bar. We've gotten pretty creative with our cooking. Our burgers are the best around, and I NEVER would have cooked a burger on a flat top before this. One more thing, my wife makes a hash brown cheesy casserole. The leftovers are the best. I fry 'em up like hashbrowns. Great with fried meatloaf.
Thanks for all of the great tips guys! I just got my new 28" last Friday and I'm 3 days and 4 meals into griddling! I've watched a lot of your videos to psych-up for my purchase and so far everything has gone smoothly and was delicious :)
Kristin!!! Welcome to the good life sister!!! You are going to love it so much!!! Please don’t ever hesitate to reach out with any questions you have! We are on Facebook and Instagram! Griddle on!!!😁❤️🤙
Thanks for the helpful tips. I’ve had my 36” about 6 years-a lot of meals cooked on it, esp breakfast meals. Cleaning and oiling right after a meal has been my #1 priority and it’s just like the 1st day of having it, if not better. If debating over what size, definitely go for the 36” if you have the funds and space for it. I obtained the long handled scraper-so much easier to clean surface. Recently cleaned and seasoned it after watching your video on this. I have a roll cart that I use to load everything on to transport, but yes, I still forget items! We have ended up with 3 gas bottles-always have at least one extra. I’ve ran out before and it’s no picnic! Most importantly-you will definitely enjoy having one!
I own a bar and have been cooking on a flat top grill for over 11 years now. I use a shorter scraper, but use welding gloves to protect the hands. All my bartenders love the idea. I get a new pair of gloves every year or so.
New subscriber here so glad I found you guys, I just purchased a 36" Griddle for my husband for father's day. I've been doing a little research on the do's and don'ts and that's how I came across y'all , I love you guys, Thanks for all the great videos and the great tips.
Let me start by typing, great videos fellas! I’m a newbie to the black stone griddle world, but you guys have giving me confidence that I can make a killer meal for my family on my new 36” flat top that my amazing wifey got me for Christmas. I’m going to try to nail the chicken fried rice Saturday night for dinner than breakfast Sunday morning, wish me luck and keep up the great work fellas!!
David! You got this brother! And we got you! Welcome to the family! Please don’t ever hesitate to reach out! We are on all social platforms, and you can message us if you need. Griddle on!!!😁❤️🤙
@@waltwins just wanted to give you guys an update. I can not thank you guys enough for making these videos and showing how to make a great meal on the griddle. I made that chicken fried rice, and man was it delicious! Everyone in my family truly enjoyed the meal. Thank you thank you thank you!!! You guys are awesome!! Can’t wait to try some of y’all other recipes!!
@@davidcox4544 WAHOO!! Honestly, we love hearing it! When we started doing these videos, we really did want to take the mystery out of cooking! Congratulations on the successful cook brother!! GRIDDLE ON!🔥🔥
Just found you guys and watched a couple videos. Long time griller here but new to the concept of griddle cooking. Bought a 17 inch last year but have not used it much. Winter is here and I am going to start using my griddle religiously like I do my big grill. You boys look like you love to eat lol. You have a new subscriber here.
Wow fam, thank you so much for finding us and for the kind words! After years of grilling on various units, we found that we have a passion for griddle cooking - it’s so versatile! If you ever have any questions, feel free to reach out Fam! Take care and GRIDDLE ON!🔥🔥
It was great to see you guys deep-fry the Funnel Cakes in a Aluminum Pan of Oil. Way easier than splashing Hot Oil on food cooking directly on the Griddle...JJ
Yessir! Thank you so much! We love using a shallow fry when we can, but the convenience of being able to do a deep fry is awesome! Take care brother!!🤙🤙🔥🔥
Thanks for the tips. Ive been watching your videos and just returned my charcoal/ griddle combo. After trying the griddle. Then the charcoal. I knew the griddle is the way to go. So im getting the 36" griddle. You guys look like you have with this. So its great. Good work.
I am new to Blackstone cooking, and I wanted to thank you guys for what you're doing! You're really helping me out, and your videos are awesome! Thanks again!
First time I've seen you guys I thought I was watching split screen at first since I didn't pay attention to channel name.😂 Love the positivity y'all have here. Just subscribed.
Great vids Got a 30 lb propane hate running out of propane mid cook! I'm about to cook a london broil You kind of scared me with your comment ? And to finish got these trays from cuisinart red for raw black for cooked great for transporting . Tim from NJ.
great advise guys! I've had issues with my TSC overfilling it and would have to burn gas to get it to not freeze my regulator but yea this was an incredible video of info! always learning new things with you guys.
Oh wow, that’s good to know as well!! We will watch for that for sure! Brett gets his filled there, so we’ll see if it becomes an issue. Take care and GRIDDLE ON FAM!🤙🤙🔥🔥
I love the Blackstone brand accessories. They are well built and priced equal to other brands. Propane? We have 4 bottles and keep them full and ready. But our home is heated with propane and have a big tank in the yard. We are planning to T off the line and running a gass line direct to the Blackstone.
Excellent man! I really wish we had gas hookups for the house - it would make it really nice! We also appreciate the lords lints of the Blackstone accessories - the us re the first we look at when we shop!😄😄🔥🔥
Great tutorial. You guys are nothing short of amazing. As a "pitmaster" smoking meats on an offset, low and slow, that has helped me with heat zones with the Blackstone.
Thank you so much for the kind words man! That’s awesome applying your knowledge from smoking meats to the griddle, many struggle with this. Take care and GRIDDLE ON FAM!🔥🔥🤙🤙
Greg!! You have no idea how much this comment made our day!!! Thank you so much for finding us and watching brother!!! Please don’t ever hesitate to reach out with any questions you have! Griddle on!!!😁❤️🤙
No worries… I’ll stop by Lowe’s and as you say, hopefully they have a griddle there where o can try the washer for correct fit! You guys do a good cook and really go above and beyond to give all the details and the cooking temps. I know that’s tough when everyone has a different cooking scenario.. keep up the good work my brothers!!
Thank you so much for the kind words man! For sure we get all the opinions…😂😂 But we really do just enjoy cooking and want others to appreciate it the way we do. Take care and let us know if you have any other questions!!🤙🤙🔥🔥
I learned my lesson about the propane tank. My husband insisted that we had enough propane for the dinner we were cooking on our Weber grill for friends. I had to finish it inside. Since that day I insisted on an extra tank and I immediately refill an empty tank. I now have three things using tanks but will still get an extra even though I could probably borrow the one from my grill for my griddle
Haha! It’s such a crummy lesson to have to learn the hard way, right?! We want to get a tank gauge as well, which should help, but now we just replace eh empty one. Thank you so much for watching Kathy!!🤙🤙
Me an my family had big propane hogncooker grill. An several small cookers for frying. My mom use to cater an everything an I mean everything was cooked on that big propane hog cooker an we always had like 8 full propane tanks on hand. Right before we had Big cook we always went an filled all those tanks up. Always
Good tips, the one thing I would recommend to all Blackstone owners that must leave their griddle out in the elements is to get a hard cover and the soft cover. The soft cover has left me with water on the griddle on top of the griddle as well as under the cover on the griddle surface causing rusting. I'm using a piece of plywood until I can get a proper cover. What cover/lid are you guys using? I would like something that pivots up and not the ones that are not attached and hang on the back.
Excellent tip! We haven’t been using a soft cover, because we found that with both the hard hood and soft cover, the humidity in Florida would pull out moisture on the surface, so I was constantly checking and wiping up moisture. We have a covered porch area, so it’s worked so far. The hood we have came with the unit, it’s a hinged lid. Now that it is cooking down (somewhat…😂😂), we are going to try a soft cover again. Take care fam!🤙🤙
