I would love to see another video on the history behind Hermes leathers. I’m a history geek and I love stuff like that, lol. Thanks for sharing, Caleb!
My favorite leathers are...Togo, Clemence, Box, and Barenia. Most other leathers I don't mine but after buying my Bern wallet in Epsom I would never buy Epsom again. Great video!
@@CalebSnell I researched the leathers and Epsom was repeatedly stated to be the strongest leather and great for heavy use. The problem with Epsom is that since it's an embossed leather, the pattern is pressed into the leather so it may help the leather hold its shape and people say it's resistant to scratching but after 3 to 4 months I saw light spots and it just got worse. Two years later I have a wallet with spaces all over it where the pattern has just disappeared and you see the light tannish color under the embossed pebbled pattern. You're right about the spa! When I took it to that Hermes night I showed it to the spa worker and he said that's just the way Epsom is and it can't be fixed. It would be like putting each little pebble back on the leather. It was over $2,000.00 so I will wear it until it falls apart but I wish I had gotten a softer leather like my Bastia.
I'm with you on Box leather being my favourite. I've just spent three weeks debating buying a B30 Black Box Sellier (pre owned) . It is absolutely gorgeous, but, I want it for an everyday work bag and I'm in the UK. So the prospect of scratches and water damage gave me such anxiety that I decided against it and bought an Epsom one instead. I love Epsom for its durability and lightness in comparison to my Togo and Clemence bags. Definitely a good decision I think but the Box Sellier haunts my dreams. 😫 Great informational video.
👋🏾👋🏼👋🏿Hi Caledb, I was directed to you from Autumn Beckman. I am enjoying this content and have subscribed 🎉I have to admit learning about these different types of leather is pretty new to me. I am a Coach girl and my preference is glovetann leather, I have been able to acquaint myself with togo, epsom and caviar leathers, I do like those. I am enjoying and will be watching👀😎
I love a video with knowledge so refreshing 💙 I love my clemence stunning soft I always give it a little touch whenever I walk next to my bag And I immediately understood the difference in quality the minute I hold it from my other bags
Box, Togo, Clemence, Barenia leathers are my favorites. Thank you for the sweet call out. I am so happy with the way my Kelly came out. I love seeing you light up when you talk about Box leather!🤎😘
Love the look of Togo and the feel of Clemence. Swift is absolutely beautiful but too delicate for my liking. I hope to experience Box in person one day. Nice video!
Great information! I like more resilient and structured leathers like Ardennes and Courcheval, but thanks to you I’m starting to enjoy my box K35 more. I want to get some pieces in Coromandel and Barenia. Of course there’s Volynka leather…😮Can’t wait for the next chapter of this series- TFS!😊
Thank you, ChiGuy! Your Box K35 is stunning- the perfect combination! Coromandel and Barenia are gorgeous too- I want to get my hands on some Volynka for sure!!
This is such an interesting video! I was going to ask (dumb question, bought chypre sandals and somehow went off the deep end in research), but where does “calfskin” fall in the categories or is it in its own? Appreciate the insight!
Caleb I do want to know about Evergrain leather… not Evercolor…or maybe the difference between the two. I have a 2005 Evergrain bag on hold, but I can’t seem to find any information. Any info you can dig up would be so helpful!!!!🥰 Thank you!🙏
