If you're on your P plates, this is a list of mods you must avoid at all costs. If you own a naturally aspirated Falcon some of these might still be useful to adhere to.
I strongly remember a fistfight breaking out after a midnight street drag 20+ years back after it was discovered that one party had an undeclared CAI installed.
Great advice, save for a house, keep your Falc clean , tidy and legal. Not only will the Plods not be attracted but your resale will be better too. I’m a 50+ dinosaur and still keep my Falcs factory spec because I don’t want the attention.
I will say cheap coilovers can be good for learning how to set up your car for different driving styles, if you adjust it wrong, it's not like you're ruining $2500 in parts
A tune is worthwhile ( to a limit ). especially if you want to remove the toque limiting factor of the engines ecu. Im not saying a tune can give you an extra 100 kw, but they do help with the daily driving ability of the falcon.
Totally agree with you mate the P stands for Punces in Falcons and Commodores you forgot about the wider rims and fatter tyres bulging out past the guard's but hey we were all P platters once with age comes hindsight and wisdom
I have an intake an exhaust, a tune and it's lowered. whoops.. I guess it's a little different cause it's a 410kw turbo, the exhaust is relatively quiet and it's lowered by like half a cm on BC coilovers
Hey question how can i do a "Road legal track car" Like remove most of the weight! and what should i avoid taking off, i heard seats rear stripped will get u a defect!
@@fgmods In NT if the vehicle is 10 years and older it requires an annual inspection and every time when you purchase a second hand vehicle from interstate.
Whilst I agree about the CAI not increasing power, you did touch on this, but sound is the big thing. More so if you change the intake piping to metal from plastic. Metal reverberates sound more which is why manufacturers opt for plastic intake piping.. it's quieter. So if you add a "CAI" and metal intake piping, you'll get a very noticeable change in sound from the inside and outside of the car.
Intakes and exhausts definitely add power, took my stock l98 6.0 litre and threw an exhaust and OTR in take on it and made 250rwkw and thats before getting it tuned to the exhaustand intake, thats about 40kw more than they make stock, cam and heads pushed mine up to 330rwkw
I did headers and a custom exhaust on my na xg but it was more to clean up the look of the motor and engine bay, I have a high flow car and twin muffler system so it’s not an attention grabbing exhaust
I see where your coming from with the exhaust side of things but every single high powered build has an aftermarket exhaust with high-flow cats and a larger diameter pipe, so is it just sound? Or are there differences for forced induction vs na?
@@fgmodswhat about it being on an na is bad? I have a full xforce exhaust and pacemaker extractors on a ba I bought, and it’s great, very noticeable power and torque increase, sounds orgasmic, I don’t see the downsides here? If it’s purely because it’s on an na I respect the p plater hate but say it 😂
Yep I think they can sound awesome. It’s just foolishness to try make your car as loud as possible while on P’s and then having police all over you for it.
Okay so CAI’s and full exhaust systems on their own don’t add any power, but what about if the car is tuned with those mods installed? Can a modified n/a falcon make more power on the same dyno as a stock n/a falcon that has also been tuned?
When i was on my Green Ps i had a BA XR6 Turbo it was lowered but not a lot it was on 20s cat back exhurst external gate screamer pipe and dose pipe the only time i got pulled over was for a actual RBT all they said was nice car and let me go on my Ls and Both Ps i never lost one point then 2 weeks on my fulls i lost it for 3 months for speeding
Gday guys. I just purchased my fg g6e. Loving it. Im interested in changing the exhaust. How far can i change before i get a check engine light. All the way up to the cat converter? Thanks
1. I have a twin turbo bmw 328i 2. I have no catalytic converter 3. I have a old air intake and it made power 4. I have a stage 2 98RON tune with 1200cc Eu5 S63TU injectors with several engine mods 5. My car is insanely illegal cos I’m on my green Ps 😂
Engines just a big air pump. More air in needs more fuel in which needs more air out. Waste of time and $$$ without a tune to take advantage of said mods. Only by product of the above is an empty wallet and the few extra wasps occasionally
The factory PCM is able to adjust its fuel tables when there’s more air. But these intakes don’t give it more air because the factory box isn’t restricting air intake.
Don't suppose you've got any advice on how to avoid having to buy a second hand ECU every few years for my FG XR6? Seems the only other option is really expensive ($1,145.00 plus postage), 12 month only warranty, reconditioned ECU's. 🤔
@fgmods Well, basically, because Ford cannot find what is causing the intermittent non-starting and the only solution in the past was a new ECU/PCM. Trouble is, even with the second hand unit I replaced recently, I'm still experiencing the same problem. Alternator and battery replaced.🤔. Oh, and to the other comment (machine builder) get it right. Hungry Jack's, man. 🤭
Don’t tell p platers to stop ricing falcons and commodores, it’s the riced ones that sell for cheap because the dude selling it is broke from spending his paycheck on stickers and “xforce or redback” exhausts😂 we gotta keep the prices low
5:25 what I have done is that I left the headers and the cat stock but put a 2.5 inch cat back that I also got made 7:15 I couldn’t never lower mine the roads are so bad where I live it’s not funny
If the intake air temp is lower, there will always be more oxygen molecules flowing into the engine, it’s just science. Whether or not it ads even a full horsepower, it’s the truth.
A 2011 g6e turbo makes 270kW and weighs about 1700kg. Assuming you've got an extra 100kg in the car that's still a power to weight ratio of 150kW / tonne
Everyone saying they haven't been bothered by cops.. must live in a lower socio-economic area, anywhere posh you will get pulled over every cop you pass. Northern beaches sydney
Idk if I can agree with any of these. I mean yeah it’s facts in a way but who cares if people want unpractical cars. Or how they spend their money on their car. Idk just my opinion
It’s mostly about warning them that there WILL be extra police attention on them if they go ridiculous, and that in terms of performance it’s all a big waste of money. I’ve done all the dumb P plate stuff myself. So hopefully I can use my own experience to help people who are just getting into cars.
If your car is making 290HP then that’s how much it was capable of making with just the tune. The intake and exhaust didn’t do anything for performance.
What’s the point of being on your Ps and not doing extractors, CAI and stickers? Might as well drive ya mum’s car. And I’m pretty sure engineers at Ford weren’t designing for optimum power but were governed by a few things such a cost control when designing the exhaust. Engineering is always a balance of optimum and affordable.
@@fgmods Bahahaha, people don’t under a NA motor will only pull in so much air the piston can pull in and push out. Till you force feed air, fuel to compliment that air. I seen people say there got 170kw to 190kws. Love to know how. Most we can get is 157kws with exhaust, air filter, out of a stock NA Barra. No matter what we bolted on It still runs 15.6 to 15.9, passes. Now if we bolt a supercharger or turbo force feeding that huge amount of the supplying the fuel to match. Now will see gains. Just amazing how people get sucked into it all.
