This video is so spot on. Rule # 1. Don't beat your self. You just have to keep the ball in play longer than your opponent.

Good suggestions. However as a shorter player (5’4””) who plays often against taller men , I’m disadvantaged by their height/ longer reach. I’ve seen plenty of taller players lean and reach over and volley it back fast from behind the kitchen line out of the air on my third shot even if dropping mid kitchen or closer to net if too high. If I place it lower over the net they’ll dink. It’s a narrower window for success. It would be great to have a video on handling taller players when your not. It’s not enough to hustle more.

Appreciate you reaching out. Other than moving the ball around and making tall players reach down, there is not much else to avoid the tall player's reach advantage. It is how they are built.

When I’m teaching I introduce the players to the net. I say this is Annette. A Net. Annette is a lady. You should always respect her. You never want to hit her. It’s actually helps them remember

Love the idea of a Force Field. Since I am a Jedi, I can sometimes get my opponent to hit into the net on their serves by using the Force. 🤑

Great video, sounds like a good thought to have while playing. I have found by hitting the ball back at the opposing players feet they have a lot more trouble returning the ball. And yes, when I'm in trouble trying to save a smash to me I hit it too high and too deep. If I could just gently push it back over the net and not deep, I would be much better off.

Yes! I flip out if I see a lanky5'10" or taller with long arms standing near the kitchen. I usually beat myself hitting into the net or way out of bounds on the side line

:). They can definitely squeeze the space you have to work with.

Great video Tony, and I agree, Russ does have some good wheels. :) I know this may not be a popular idea, but try keeping track of how many times you hit the ball into the net during a match. Serves, returns and 3rd shot drops especially. Shoot for ZERO. If you miss, miss long. For 45+ yrs that's been my goal in tennis. Make them play and don't miss in the net. They may hit an out ball (happens a lot in Pickleball I notice..constantly!!). And so what if your 3rd shot drop is a little high and they roll it back at you. Just hit another drop!

Great tip, thanks. Ima gonna eliminate my desire to go for those dribblers. I put way too many into the net last weekend!

Great video. I wonder if you would also consider the sidelines a partner to the net as formidable competitors. I think some of your same ideas apply to the sidelines.

I'm a pro "dribbler." Yes, that means I flirt with the net way too much, but with enough topspin, those dribbles almost always go my way. Not defending it...just making myself feel better. haha
