Avoid this Soviet Exclave!

If you look at a detailed map of Kyrgyzstan in Central Asia you will see some strange shapes appearing in the very south of the country. These are the Soviet formed exclaves belonging to both Uzbekistan and Tajikistan. They were formed in the 1950s to answer the question of what to do with small regions which were ethnically diverse from the Kyrgyz Republic the people had found themselves living in due to Stalin's map making.
These exclaves had always intrigued me and I wondered what life was like in them. However there is zero information online about visiting them. However I am always up for a wasted journey so I hired a car in northern Kyrgyzstan and drove 1000kms to one of these exclaves to see if foreigners were allowed to enter or not.
Join me on a wild adventure towards the mysterious mountain exclave of Shohimardon...

They are not poor in the way you understand. The Czech Republic once built a complex with the latest things very nice apartments for the Roma Senti gypsies, they're ethnically from Rajasthan in India, but most of them live strange lives on the street for whatever reason and in caravans and under bridges and in crime. That's not me exaggerating that's the truth fact. They will give birth to a bunch of children in order to have more of them begging. I was once driving somewhere in Europe I don't remember where and suddenly I'm getting off the highway ramp at a pretty high speed there's a little baby in the middle of the f****** road. So I break hard barely avoid running it over and the moment I stopped all of a sudden like Invaders in a Roman movie, I'm swarmed by maybe 50 of these Romani gypsies who demand I pay them otherwise they're not going to move to let me through. So me being an idiot I go to pay them, when right behind me some locals witness this, and this large Eastern European man starts swearing and yelling at them and they storm off dispersed like they had seen a vampire or something. It looked to me like the locals were more lenient with them then we would be in canada. If this happen in Canada that those parents would be in jail for child endangerment in hours

Well I noticed he starts out by saying "What a beautiful country." and it all kind of flows from there. Having a pretty young woman with him helps break the ice as well. Plus he speaks one of the languages used.

I know Baldy & Bankrupt said that 2021 would be when he was calling it quits and doing something else with his life and not doing these videos anymore, but I do think that this would be a great career to have - being a travel journalist and I hope he reconsiders about quitting - or at least having it be a summer vacation type travel series. This video was a hell of a comeback. Not even CNN would give two shits about showing this place, so Bald is doing something genuinely important I feel even if he doesn't know it - if not for our entertainment watching a British man stumble around the USSR and do crazy things but also for the people that live in these places to get some worldwide exposure. His videos when he was doing India and Hindu territories, they all loved his vids and showing places that was part of their village and cities that nobody else would. Just something about his character, he has great charisma at engaging with people, and people are always so surprised when he speaks in their languages.

Exactly, usually no one goes to this place in winter, they were lucky to meet locals that happened to drink vodka and eat shashlyk there with a proper vehicle for this road. If he didn't stuck at that place he would stuck in another for sure and there would be no people around, lucky man. The road gets really bad further, you need a 4wd vehicle like the locals had.

What a fascinating trip this was. This was a refreshing take on the society where everyone seems so friendly. When you live in a city, you are with so many people and yet you are so alone here. We rather not talk to each other fearing that person may be there to harm you. In this video, it's the complete opposite. Although there are few people in-between, people are so connected to each other and share their interesting lives to strangers. Thank you for this amazing video.

I love this evolution in your format. It’s great to see the research, history and B-roll. It feels much more polished than randomly walking about in hopes of finding interesting conversation with reluctant locals. There’s still a bit of that to keep things interesting, but the extra history about the region adds context. I hope to see more of these types of videos and more polish as you continue to evolve.
