Thank you Mergin for this vlog. I actually responded to one of those scammers in one of the vloggers I'm following. I sent an instagram message to the vlogger to alert him but he neve read it. He responded I think to some of the comment about an inquiry that he was giving away prizes. He just tells the subscriber that it's not him plainly as that and nothing serious. But in his vlog, he seem to be always generous but just a bit cold when scammers are using his name. I felt more disappointed with this vlogger since he did not address the issues goin on. But Mergim, you saved your subscribers with this vlog. Kudos to you!
Omg..exactly thats what d scammer told me then but not in ur volgs. I also subscribe to harry jaggard a british guy too n thats where d scammer pick my comment.
So sorry to see that there are still loads of gullible people who will easily fall for these scams. Thank you Mergim for sharing your thoughts. People need to "wise up: and recognize all these red flags.
I've received a few of these scam messages and I have to admit that the first time I saw it I almost fell for it. But I took a second to think about it and realized that the vlogger they were claiming to be did not mention any contest. I ended up just ignoring and deleting it. Too many scammers around...be careful guys! Great job, Mergim! 👍
Me too, I still can't believe why people are falling for this scam. Spam emails are worse. Stop being gullible! If there's money involved, there's a high chance that it's a scam!
I got one when I commented on your last video and immediately reported it. Thanks for dedicating a whole video to this subject, Mergim. I hope all your subscribers get to watch this and take heed.
The moral lesson is don’t think that people give you free Iphone 14, for no reason at all. Especially your not asking for Mergim personally . Mergim I hope my english is not bad😂. Have a nice day!
The good part is that YOU have now alerted your subscribers about the fraud / scam taking place in your RU-vid vlog, Mergim. One cannot eliminate fraud or crime BUT one can minimize it. You have done the right thing in ALERTNG your thousands of subscribers especially in the Philippines. Keep Up The Good Work!
That's the reason I don't comments on my fave RU-vidr, I only subscribed and liked their vlogs becoz this is the way the scammers gets our names. this is my second time making comments here, 1st is when I welcome you to the Philippines and now.. I still did received lots of messages of any kinds of stuff about winning or new business ventures but I just blocked the nos. and deleted their messages.. Too bad for our fellow kababayans who fell victims to these scammers... Ingat tayo guys, anyways kung may pa-contest gagawin yung mga fave vloggers natin, they will mention or announce it on their vlogs..
I almost fell for this scam from a different YTer. Although, I applaud you for addressing this issue. So far you are the only one who addressed this that I know of.
This is why sim registration is very important! I dont know why some people in the Philippines are still against it. I can feel your frustration coz loads of Filipinos are so gullible!
I agree that the registered sim card will lessen the problem but I also get this telegram messages even if I am based in the states. It’s a global problem.
Registration of sim is done in many parts of the globe, it’s easy to track scammers bec the cell carriers are also equipped with anti scam apps wlc screen calls
Guys please be careful next time okay~ good thing i didn't fall for that account and only focus on this RU-vid account. Thank you Mergim for clearing this up through this vid. 🙇
Gud am Mergim....this is sad news...however thank you for alerting us your subscribers....am getting lots of same telegrams but I just ignored them...I know it's a fake "merging vlogs". When money is involved think twice. God bless.
Bottom line: If it sounds too good to be true then ignore it ! It’s pure common sense ! It happens also on emails, phone messaging . Learn the lesson the hard way. Asking for personal information and getting money is a RED flag ! Ignore and delete immediately.
The scammer can be traced. They have been scamming thru many channels already. Unfortunately youtube does not help. But they can be traced. Thats why i make known to others by replying on their comments - 👉 "scammer alert" 👈
Omg just don't reply on telegrams legitimate subscribers like us can determine you're having new vlogs be careful too many scammers online in the Philippines take care always ,all the best looking forward for new posts
It happened to me. I was watching two vloggers about the Philippines and the vloggers said I was picked and I won a prize. I was instructed to send a telegram to the vloggers. The first vlogger I responded I'm abroad and it's okay for me to give the prize to somebody there in the Philippines. Then a different vlogger said the same thing. Same requirement. I did not respond this time. Now I know it's a scam. Then the two vloggers made a video and said its not them. So glad I was not victimized.
Thank you for alerting us on this scam. Don't feel so bad about it- this should be a warning to all who watch your vlog to not fall prey to these scammers. Nevertheless your subscribers are growing everyday!! Cheers!!
This is very nice of you, Mergim. I wish all content creators, especially the big ones, also give warnings about these scams to their viewers and subscribers.
People who scam through Telegram are usually Indians and Nigerians. They have middlemen among Filipinos, that is how they have access to GCash. It's absolutely frustrating that they are able to target Filipinos.
🎩🏝️🌺🇵🇭 Sir Mergim, I knew it, Sorry to hear this, Most unfortunate, Your still on my Short list of best Travel Vlogs, No worries, I forgot about it already.. Safe Travels 👍🙏🎩🏝️🌺🇵🇭
That’s unfortunate. There are so many scammers around. Very sorry to hear! Greetings to 🇵🇭👍🌺🌺🌺🌺🌺. I missed you while in Manila. Would have been nice to do a collab 😊
I received a similar reply on my comment on one of your videos. At first, It felt great for having been recognized as one of your subscribers and that's enough for me... no need for any prize. Good thing though that I have no telegram account and thus just ignored it. Not being indifferent or racist, but if it's a scammer and have a broken english... most probably he or she is not a Filipino. But then again, I might be wrong. Either way, let's all be careful and I commend you for flagging this scam as soon as you've been aware of it. Kudos!
Good thing you have mentioned this in your actual vlog. That only shows how gullible subscribers are. I also warned another vlogger about this in his instagram coz he never responded to my warning. I think a lot got scammed this way. I saw this scam also in ur inbox last time. Gcash transactions can be traced since the number is registered and valid IDs are needed to make a Gcash account. These scammers are really bold.
Scammers offer free promos and/or say that You've won money or iPhone 14,,, this is to entice you with free gifts! People just get tempted and fall for the free things in life. When it is too good to be true. STOP right there, that is a sign that you are being scammed!
Btw. I received a similar message from “Making It Happen” vlog. Someone replied to my comment, stating that I am now a part of a shortlist winners. Same M.O. Might be the same guy. I guess who ever that is, is not Mike. I ignored the message not because I thought it was a scam (I did not know it was a scam until now). I ignored it because I am not interested. Lol. Thanks for letting everyone know. I hope this culprit gets apprehended. This might be a good vlog idea, doing the investigative work to catch these cyber thugs! Something like “International Vloggers teamed up to catch a cyber scammer”
They use bots, copy/paste the messages, and spread them through different RU-vidrs' accounts. The bots will take the name of whoever RU-vidr they are attacking.
Damn those scumbags! But that only proves that you are starting to be really famous. And I can see you will be at a level with Jorge & Lucy and Mark & Nelly!
@@chattcedric6321 I’m half right as well as you are. I meant Mike, my bad. But Jorge is the correct name and spelling hence the name Juicy- Jorge and Lucy. They just stopped correcting people. I have been watching them since day 1.
@@leonardopineda3829 JORGE is a Spanish name and is pronounced as "HOR-HE" and GEORGE is an English name and George Warrington is an Englishman. What's wrong with correcting if it's really wrong. Are you offended because you're wrong? False Pride I guess.
Go immediately to the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) at the corner of UN Ave and Taft Ave Manila. Report it immediately to their Cyber Crime Division, they can easily trace that scammer and catch him. That way you can also help your subscriber who was victimized. More power to you and keep safe always.
Also extra precaution to the victim.. he got your personal information.. gcash number and other account information. Be careful not to be hacked.. change passwords
The first time i ever saw one of these scams (in the other vloggers that i follow), i immediately knew they're scams. I even suspected the vloggers to be in on it coz i was wondering why they were just allowing it and seemingly not reporting them. But i realized later on that they are reporting them but it takes a while for youtube to address it i think. Plus i believe the scammers keep creating new channels whenever the previous ones are flagged. Anyway, those of us who are a bit more internet savvy know right away they're scammers. I just hit the Report button on them. But sadly, there are many who are still ignorant of these things, and gullible too. And these are the people these scammers target.
Nice Mergim in warring your subscribers I had a message to like that anyway I have one think to say common sense don't leave home without it come on guys if Mergim or any channel did not publicly announce any give aways definitely it's a scam, hello common sense is the key, keep it up brother stay safe and God bless 🤙
I also got a message from that scammer here when I commented on ur video what I did is i reported it to youtube. Beware guys check first the account you will see that the account dont have any post so u know that its not real.
Not just happening in the Philippines . I was just contacted by a similar (if not the same) scammer on another RU-vid channel in the States. Beware, the scammers are out there everywhere!! Used the same hook - you have won “something” and ask for info on Telegram.
A few weeks ago I noticed the scam and mentioned it to you. Back then it was Merging Vlogs. I tried reporting it to YT as well. They seem to be preying on many channels of Foreign Vloggers in the Philippines. On another note, may I suggest an idea for today or tomorrow? If you visit Franchise Asia in SMX in Mall of Asia, you would be able to check out many street foods and food carts in the Philippines that are being franchised.
Hi Mergim, have the victim report it to the NBI cyber crime immediately or in the NBI web site and send all the info to the NBI cyber crime group concerning this the account no. on the G cash or even the cel no. of the scammers...be safe and thank you for the concerns on the issues...a lot of the locals has been scammed already ...Cheers
You could tell from his response that it is not Mergim because he omitted the letter "s" from "thanks," from the start of their chat, and so on.He didnt sound professional at all. I would recognize such a message right away if I received it. I just want to play around with him. Absolutely not. I'll just tell the con artists, "Cash on delivery; I'll pay the shipping cost as soon as I have the reward." Scammers are everywhere. These are the persons who are employed in this field or individuals who are doing this as a profession. I hope they can track him down and catch him. We have no way of knowing how many individuals they have already duped. Thanks Mergim for bringing this up.Your subscribers will now be aware.Sorry though to the one that was scammed.
Yes when i first time to watched you sir there is scammer replied me asked money and as a ofw here in Hongkong i know that he was scammer and i ignored him and now this is the problem to your vlog sir. still praying for your safe in the Philippines. God bless you Sir. Im your fan here in Hongkong.
Also, just want to let everybody know that I’ve seen scammers copy the name and photo of the RU-vidr, and if one pays attention with the spelling of the name, you will be able to tell a slight difference in one or two of the characters. I also check the # of subscribers of the scammer by clicking on the name, and you’ll see that they have 0 subscribers. So FOLKS, PLEASE DON’T RESPOND TO SCAM MESSAGES! Report these types of messages to RU-vid as a scam. Thank you for alerting everyone about this issue, Mergim. Stay safe!
I understand how you feel about viewer/s taking the bait.. that's because it's believable because the msg is right in your vlog. It happened to me as well when I posted a comment on another RU-vidr I follow for years now. I thought that it (the giveaway) was legit because it gave an announcement right down on my own msg. Though I don't have telegram account I was gullible to try to see if it's really true. We were having conversations on how the scammer will send a free iphone14 but I have to pay for the shipment of $150 if I remember it correctly. I immediately say I couldn't afford it since I'm a PWD. you're correct they won't stop until you give in..they tried to lower the shipment and gave me a gcash number and name as their Philippine agent, they (because the youtuber is a couple) claimed. Luckily, I didn't send any money because I realized it was a scam. I immediately deleted my account. Had a screenshot of the info provided by the scammer which I've accidentally deleted the screenshot. My take in this, if you as a RU-vidr can see this kind of clickbait comments on your viewers can you report it to RU-vid as well?
At the end of the day, your subscriber didn't lose a great amount of money compared to the horrific stories you hear about online scams. Thanks for actually addressing this issue with a video, I'm sure you will have now raised people's awareness to at least stop and think twice before engaging in RU-vid comments that seem too good to be true.
Yup, based on the phone number, you can determine the name and address of a gcash account. It is also possible for telecom companies to pinpoint the exact location of a user from the IMSI, IMEI, phone number, and other info. You can report scammers to local authorities, they might be of some help.
First of all. Thanks to *VortexTrace* for making the work environment so friendly and taking your responsibility seriously and completing the work gracefully! You deserve so much. Your team does what they say they are going to do and their ethics are of the highest quality. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!😊😊😊😊😊
Common sense should tell you that it's a scam. If it's too good to be true, it isn't true! Never communicate with ANYONE who contacts you saying that you've won something, or they want to give you $1million because they don't know anyone else to give it to.
i commented your yesterday videos and replying to get my prize...i know akready ir was a scam ..idid a comment also to becoming filipino is the same thing reply...everytime i did a comment somebody also like my comment .....i was wondering somebody was watching my comment....thank you mergm vlog for doing this videos...informative
It reminds me of very formal letters I receive from Spain from time to time, from a “lawyer” informing me that a distant relative of mine passed away and left behind a substantial amount of money and assets, and that I’m entitled to make a claim. It just requires me to contact them privately so that they can get my personal informations and begin the process. For a cynical person like me, it’s quite funny because it’s an obvious con.
there is also a foreign vlogger with the same promise that i won a iphone 13 pro max...and our transaction was made via telegram too...the only difference is, he validate that he is the vlogger who replied in my comment...and he is the vlogger that i subscribed....and the rest was history.
This could actually be a syndicate with members all over the world. I see this “telegram” scam messages all over youtube not only on vloggers in the Philippines.
thank you for your information, man. i'm afraid i've just got scammed. i wasn't sure about it but now i am sure after watching your video. tho, in my case, the scammer promised play station 5, instead of i-phone. thank you again 😢
The first time I saw this comment, I know it's already a scam. People needs to be wiser and be vigilant, even with random cellphone number texting us about these BS stuff and emails too.
Sim registration bill has just been approved and signed by Pres. BBM. This is a very urgent bill and hoping to be implemented very soon. Eventhough, using telegram, whatsapp, viber can made them escape from such bill by using other international accounts. All we can do is to be cautious enough and know how to discern a sam or not. Even clicking links can lead to phishing. Scammers are everywhere, they should not be entertained when they send such kind of bait messages.
Same happened to me with one of the most popular vloggers in the Philippines. Somebody sent me a message telling me if I'm interested in a business where the YT name is the famouse vlogger but with added emoji on it. Since I'm interested in any business I readily messaged back and asked what kind of business it is.But immediately, I realized it might be a SCAM. I did not pay attention to it anymore because It might be a scam. It's as easy as that, if you think somebody sent you something that is unusual, don't fall victim to it.
Good morning mergim everybody must be very careful. i think we already know your channel very much. don't worry mergim mergim blogs is the right one i know. 👍😍✌🙏🇵🇭
