UPDATE: It turns out my experience is consistent with that of "The Seven Pens" • Are Metal Nibs safe fo... . TLDR: If a broken stylus isn't going to bother you too much, carry on with Titanium nibs. If you are going to be upset or frustrated by a broken stylus, then you likely want to discontinue use.
A few months ago, I stumbled upon titanium stylus nibs for the reMarkable. They had great reviews, so I picked them up and gave them a shot. I love the writing feel and have been using them for the last five months, but I started running into issues over the last few days.

If the pen is well made, it should last forever... just the nibs need replacing. 5 months? That's a problem. There are artists that have their wacom pens still working perfectly after years and years and years.

It's worth the risk for my Staedler Jumbo. I returned my bundle with the official pen and purchased the tablet stand alone. I've been using titanium nibs in my staedler and my tab s 9 pen for about 6 months with no issues.

Thanks for sharing your experience. I am surprised that a nib can kill the stylus. I have titanium nibs as well, but only used them on Lamy Safari Twin and Staedtler stylus on Boox Lumi Max with an iPad paper light protector. The nibs sticks out more on the Lamy Twin and made me less comfortable with using it hard. So far there is no problem, but your experience scares me. I am considering removing them, because I don't think it worth to ruin the two pens. BTW, the reMarkable nibs did not work on the Lamy Safari Twin on the reMarkable. This is means there are some hardware differences between them. I was worried about scratching the reMarkable screen with the titanium nibs, so I did not use it with reMarkable. I was lucky, because that's my daily device, so the usage of the titanium nibs were limited.

Nice video. I have been using titanium nibs for a couple months on my Lamy and Steadler. So far no issues. One thing to note though is that I once dropped the stylus with the titanium nib and after that I could feel that at some angles it was sharper therefore I stopped using that for fear of it scratching the tablet. Which I tried in a screen protector and it did scratch it

Not doubting you but how do you know the nib caused it and not just the stylus dying from something else? I didn’t want to risk using these nibs due to screen scratching anyways but now I’ll avoid for sure,

I've been using a titanium nib for 18 months now with no problems of any kind. Either your pen had a problem or most likely, you were pressing too hard. Based on the problem you are describing, you were probably using too much pressure. I use very little pressure when I write. Am used to using fountain pens I guess. They need no pressure. The titanium nib needs no pressure. I do use a little from time to time to get line variation. It doesn't take much pressure to get variation. If you are heavy-handed, don't use a titanium nib on any stylus you use.

I am using a matte screen protector with good pens using titanium tips and everything is fine & dandy ! I hope it continues to be great. Good luck guys. Hey and thank you for the awesome video!

I'm using titanium nibs in my staedler jumbo for about 6 months. i think it's saved me enough on nibs i'm ok if i need to buy a new stylus.

The other thing is that if two things are rubbing one will break down. If the nib doesn’t break down the tablet will get scratched.
@jerome5969

I’ve tried the same, definitely will keep using the titanium nib.
@jasonsdodd

@@car_tar3882at the rate i'm going even if this breaks the tablet it will be far enough in the future i'll likely want another one and will likely have saved enough on nibs that the cost of a new device will be tolerable. that's my gamble anyway.

I have used the same nibs for my Boox Pen 2 Pro and went through two of them in one year. I like the feel of writing on the NA3C, but $100 every 6 months is too expensive. I have other stylus pens around and will go back to felt. I wonder, how does the titanium nib compare to a SuperNote ceramic nib on a Boox or Remarkable tablet? I’m considering one of those if it feels similar to ceramic. I don’t really care if there are small scratches on the screen if it feels good to write on. I can’t find anyone having tried this or shown their results.

Writing with the Remarkable stylus and nibs or with the Lamy is just fine. Whatever the perceived improvement with a titanium nib, why go to that extra expense and uncertainty? With most devices, sticking with the manufacturer’s approved accessories is usually the best course.

Actually I had same issue after I accidentally dropped my remarkable Marker Plus, so probably the apparently similar internal damage can be caused by 2 quite different scenarios.
@jayvansickle7607
@jayvansickle7607 4 месяца назад
I'm actually really surprised that screen damage isn't the problem... However, I imaging that If the nibs were responsible for damaging the Marker, that the Scribe Pens would probably have the same issues with the titanium nibs.

Hey Brandon, love your videos. What do you think about using Supernote Fountain Ceramic Pen on the Remarkable 2? I've been using it so far and the writing experience is amazing!! Much better than the actual Remarkable 2 Pen and Lamy Al-Star Pen, I liked it a lot due to the pinpoint accuracy. I don't even get that kind of accuracy and control from the Remarkable Pen using Remarkable/Lamy Al-Star nibs, or even titanium nibs.

I have the same problems with the original nibs . . . . the reMarkable stylus can break also . . . internally . . .

It’s funny how nibs slowly get worse and worse with little indication that they are failing, and then they rapidly deteriorate. I’m now pretty sensitive to stray marks and missing strokes ever since i damaged my first nib

Thank you for sharing, Brandon. I used it on my Lamy, but given your experience, I will swap it. It is sad because the writing experience was excellent. I am sorry for your stylus.

This one's for the wall of joy Brandon Every video you make is so useful. I spent ages trying to make the choice to get a tablet and your info was truly invaluable. I even had comments in the questions and you took the time, replied and helped me out. I may have made my choice of tablet already but for some reason keeping up with the eInk trends has turned out to be enjoyable. And the "some reason" is the quality of your content. Thankyou for putting up with RU-vid algorithms to being us your insight.

Could you please help me decie what e-ink device I should buy? Colour screen - not important Size - at least A4 Nibs - as long-lasting as possible Recurring subscription fees - eff no Fast device - not important Hand writing to text conversion - important I will mainly use it for writing, but I would like to read e-books. I already have Google Books, so if it were compatible, that would be great. Being able to connect it to my computer to transfer files, even if just with a cord, would also be neat. Thank you in advance. :)

I've heard titanium nibs are hard on stylus. I use titanium nibs in my jumbo Staedler and Lamy emrs. I do extensive writing every day. I use Remarkable nibs in my Remarkable stylus, which are relatively soft and not cheap. Titanium nibs by nature are problematic. I also have a Boox tablet. I have screen protectors on my eink tablets. If damage eventually occurs to the screen protectors I'll replace them. For continued writing experience, even if/when replacing cheaper emr is necessary because I'm using a titanium nib, for me it's a yes. Expectation, long-term awesome writing experience every time, every day. People who prioritize writing with eink are already paying for the experience, we just have to find solutions that work for individual needs and abilities.
