Dave is the unsung hero of this movie. He wanted to make things right but alas, it was not to be.

This move would have been fine if the sole focus was on Wolf. I could care less about the Humans in this film.

I'm not saying the practical affects were bad but did they darken the movie cuz they didn't have faith that it didn't look good enough so they darkened it so you wouldn't see how "bad" the practical effects were? Cuz the sewer scenes... Jesus Christ they were so fucking dark. The amazing spiderman had tons of sewer scenes and were clear as hell and had light.

The reason the predators in AVP were so huge compared to AVPR Wolf predator is because they were young warriors so they need all that bulk and armor the experienced vets dont need all that shit. I dont remember where I read this but Google it and you'll see I'm right

amazing job... but the color correction was terrible, even on the trailers and some early previews you could see the monsters pretty well defined, but in the final movie they just put the contrasts to max and a little extra blur made the creatures indistinguishable from one to another, the movie theater was literally pitch back... kids and their dads were mad after the movie ended since they didn't knew exactly what they watched (yup lots of kids... funny enough right before the movie there it was a line of kids with their dads waiting for this movie, and right next to it another line with girls in princess costumes with their moms to watch that Disney cartoon princess goes into real world movie...) the wolf predator was badass

to clear up confusion, that's effects director Alec Gillis talking to tom in the suit, not the brothers Strauss directing this camera test. dave is likeky part of the ADI crew and seemed to sarcastically remark about the dark picture on the test. the actual film was shot by Daniel Pearl of Texas Chainsaw Massacre fame, and in trailers and tv spots on the cinematography shows. i even recall it looking better in the theater. it was the color grading for the home release that was botched. even the daytime scenes were dark! allegedly it was a studio mandate to digitally darken the home release to "hide the cheesy effects ".

I haven't watched AVPR since it came out when I was 11, I thought I had an eyesight problem or something back then because I could not figure out why a AAA title sci-fi movie was dark as fuck, I couldn't see anything and I thought it was a personal problem with me and I never bothered watching it again. I'm so happy yet at the same time disappointed to know I'm not the only one, and pretty much everyone thought this movie was too dark. But I'm disappointed in the fact that such detail, work, time, and money went into making the predalien and xeno suits and yet they are barely visible because of a man arguing with a man named Dave. What a bittersweet day this is. I shall go back and watch this film with the brightness setting turned up to 70 on my Tv.

So I decided to look for the "Dave" guy in the cast and crew, unfortunately there was a number of them. I did manage to Find a "Dave Palmer" who was the lamp operator of the movie, so Its safe to assume that's him. I hope he knows that the fans appreciated him speaking out on how dark the movie was. Bless you Dave.

Everyone hated the avp films, but I loved them! I wished they made a avp 3 film, but sadly everybody seems to pan the idea. Its pretty bad, because avp had two films made but freddy vs. Jason only has one. That should tell you how much potential it has if done right. They quickly made a sequel yet then when avp-r cameout it was apparently a freaking abomination? I deeply enjoyed it. Yeah I know it could have been way better but that's what a third film is for. So much potential, yet scraped because of a few messups along the way. Such a shame.

We live in a modern age if people forgot. With that said you can emulate a much better picture when watching the film by changing the settings of your tv before viewing. With my 4k and even my old 1080i it had the ability to save image profiles. So you can just save your current profile, then change it for the film to a new profile, and swap back once the movie is over. I personally only increased the contrast, nothing more. And it was fine for me. Though others might wish to change more.
