I remember listening to this song a decade ago, when I was homeless myself. Avril Lavigne's songs got me through the toughest moments in my life. With no mother, no father, no home, there was really no place to go. However, I was able to get through it and at a certain point in your life you have to start living for you, even if you're 14 and even if nobody's home.

Why does this song represent my life so well since I was 16? Not bc I’m homeless, but bc I’m broken since then. Trying to find home, and even being in home, it doesn’t feel like one.

Damn I was so obsessed with her early work. I’m her age so I always felt that her songs were speaking to me. So grateful I grew up listening to her music! No girls like her anymore!

While currently (besides on paper i guess) im no longer fully homeless, this song will always hit that feeling... cuz its not being stuck outside alone thats the worst feeling, but the setting in of the already preplaced rejection that pushed u to that position, and not knowing exactly it was that made u worth less than others that makes it appear that rejection and being ignored by all the people u tried so hard to be good enough to try and stay near.... its the feeling that even after u prove ur not so garbage that u deserve to rot outside that u can never shake the fear of rejection or trust again after being outcast for things youre not really sure why that put u in that spot to begin with

I used to listened to this song 10 + years ago when 16 and going through periods of homelessness. I’m stable now, have a degree, home and a job and I’m so proud of myself. This song reminds me of myself when I was homeless in and out of shelters and living on the streets, addicted to heroin for 3 years about. I cried myself to sleep sooo many nights. I felt rejected, hated by my family, out of place, and worthless. I'm 3 years sober now and I'll never go down that road again!

I was extremely emotionally/physically abused in my pre teens thru my teen years with evil adoptive parents and her music literally saved my life. I was contemplating hanging myself a few times and this song helped me step away from the noose. Much love and gratitude. I am 28 and finally happy..I am glad I didn't give up

This song reminds me when I was a refugee and almost homeless at 18 years old. I had a blanket that I found filled with mice droppings so I had to use all my saved coins to wash the blanket, and then I slept that night so cold covered with my clothes instead of a blanket. Thank you Avril for being with me and keeping me strong at that time. Now I am in medical school becoming a doctor in the US and will graduate soon. Love you all. Keep fighting and don't let anything stop you.

This is so symbolic for me. It kind of represents (at least for me) what depression feels like. The being alone and reaching out to people who don't accept you. Not knowing where you belong. And especially the part where she is out in the rain and she's going from car to car trying to get in, it's like how you are trying to find a way to cope in such a dreary miserable spot. I don't know if anyone feels the same or is it just me?

Why can't music now have meaning like in the 2000s

I come back to this song every so often because this song means so much to me, its the song I listened to when I came out to my mom and she kicked me out. But now I'm back home and my mom is happy for who I really am. Stay alive friends, it gets better. I promise
