I've got almost 6K hours in this bird.....was an awesome machine and one of my favorite of all jets I've flown....its short field capability was amazing and could scream 250 to the marker and slow on a dime. I miss it and was fortunate enough to have flown it
Thank you for your nice comment, Dave! When I was a child, lying for a long time on the top floor of the hospital in Bern, I could watch all the planes approaching and departing from Bern Airport. The BAe 146 of Dan-Air was always my highlight and is my favourite aircraft. Aviation kept me alive then!
@@matthiashaenni well I am 53 now and medically retired but sure did my share of plane watching. My dad was 1of the first 20 Fed Ex pilots and I'd sit down at the runway at Memphis and watch over 140 arrivals coming in at night...and I didn't grow up wanting to fly..I'm afraid of heights 🙈🤣. But yeah my friend the RJ85 will always be my favorite.
Wow - awesome shot - and the sound at the end with the roar of the jets as the plane climbs away up into the sky was amazing - lovely capture. You could almost feel the thrust of those engines through the speakers as the pilot wound them up for take-off and held the plane on the brakes before releasing for the charge down the runway
Man I did a max power before brake release flap 30 takeoff with only 10 passengers and my 2 flight attendants outta Grand Rapids and you're right....it barely took a few steps and we were airborne climbing with a high deck angle....
Amazing job Matthias!! Always would call these the mini-747s growing up as a youngster sitting at the end of the runway here in Vancouver. Thanks for the memory buddy!!
This aircraft is the same type used by the company LAMIA to transport the Chapecoense team. It is considered a robust and high performance aircraft used by the British Air Force.
The British Aerospace 146 is a wonderful plane. Short field operations even on unpaved runways, steep approaches and fast braking are some of the remarkable qualities of this great plane.
Nice capture mate looks great. always nice to see this small plane with 4 engines it looks so powerfull ,two days ago i had one landing in a stom at schiphol and it looked amazing.
The first BAe 146 landing on Continent was here in Berne. Love to remember Dan-Air! The BAe 146-200 versions were delivered from 1982 onwards. The aircraft in the vid was built in 1998 as RJ85.
Countryman Gaia Warrior not wrong, but was designed with two, has 4 small engines to keep noise down, its used a lot for flights from cities to regional towns where big screaming turbofans/props would be too much for local population, was originally designed with the engines on the fuselage too, this is much cooler, and would have stunning acceleration i would imagine
