Nice truck. This video is 2 years old. Read comments your light is 2 years plus and still working. That’s great news. I wonder if the newest light bar is a slightly different shape for wind noise. I read some other reviews were truck owners had no inside cab noise issue. I seen your other video with AVS black led plastic mount and it looks really cool on your truck. Too bad for the issues. Just the led strip looks ok but fixes your other problems. The No drill cab lights are expensive and majority census online is they don’t last, the drill ones are fine but who really wants to drill holes in a 60k, 70k, 80k ? I have a Superduty without factory clearance lights. This AVS with the black housing is the next best thing to factory cab lights and a cool finished look. Maybe the 2023 production had some tweaks. I’ll probably give it a try Thanks for both videos.
I managed to snag one off ebay for cheap. I plan on throwing the plastic "aero" piece in the trash and just using the LED strip. The plastic aero piece is UNNECESSARILY tall and shaped to grab as much wind as possible. The LED strip is nice and bright. I may buy some 1/2" plastic moulding to mount to the truck. anything would be better than the "aero" thing they include. I'm going to try an install first between my windshield and my roof, there's enough roof to barely wedge the light strip in there and the lights would be facing the right direction. It's a painted white piece for GM -- free if anyone is local to Los Angeles and wants it lol
I've ordered one and want to just use only the strip but my concern like you is that the light strip laying flat with no forward angle how would it illuminate looking at it from a distance away. Good idea about the gap between the windshield edge and roof line, also was thinking of possibly painting the black strip portion around the led's body color to match my truck so i t would blend in better. And please post back your results, as will i.
I have a Sierra 1500 and wanted cab lights, but didn't want to drill and also didn't like how the AVS Aerocab sticks up so much. Bought the Aerocab on sale and I'm just gonna stick the light strip on the cab like you did thanks to your video.
Thanks boss. I plan on doing almost the same thing except I am going to place those lights at the top of the grille opposed to on the roof. More like the Raptor and TRX style of lights opposed to clearance lights.
That's a great option i'm wanting the lights without the aero killer & noise maker plastic part lol. Have to see if they would sell the strip only and i might paint it body color so it blends in. thanks for the update.
What did you use to mount the strip to the top of the truck to keep it secure at highway speeds? I like this idea. They look really good. Like the low sleek profile.
Yes..I just bought some new 3M VHB tape off Amazon. Just some generic stuff. It's still on the truck and have withstand multiple car washes with no issues
It's been perfect! It's now been nearly 2 years with it up there, countless car washes, and extreme weather and it still works as good today as it did then. Very happy with it
Check out cab over America. Kinda spendy but well worth the money super bright led wireless Cab lights I have them on my 3.0 duramax makes it look like A diesel with these #Caboveramerica lights
the cab over lights are garbage ive had them and now there sitting in a box on the garage floor like if i tossed 4 &100 bills on the ground, they go out of sync and flash and dim at different levels and they all (5) don't always light up simultaneous great idea poor execution by the Co. Also my refund period expired and no refund from them.
Is the light strip semi-flexible? I would like one of these strips to put on a 2015+ Tahoe but AVS doesn't sell one. I'm not sure if the spoiler for one of the different model year trucks would fit the Tahoe. However if the light strip is semi-flexible it would probably attach like yours without much issue
