Sade is a Goddess with an Angelic voice and on top of that had one of the baddest, kick ass backing Bands ever! Sure would love to see her and the Band resurface soon to share with us again that Amazing talent they have together... 🎶 🎼 🎵
hamish stuart is still singing this classic, still touring, still showing his class, a one off, the best soul/funk singer to come out of scotland bar none.
how about tower of power?? they were there first and then kokomo..not the same with awb after robbie died..steven ferrone is excellent but there is only one francis rocco prestia and david g.
Im78...my son graduated in 77....this was his music choice back when he was 18......now I find myself caught in a CLOUDY HAMISH WEB..... Insomnia at 2 am....listening to Person to Person. ... Cloudy. .and "love of Your Own....In the dark. Mesmerized with the funky beat. Love it , 🎶🎤🎶
Person to person was my favorite jam from this band, when you found out they were white, it was so cool, youdon't hate on that which is good & great and dancing and having fun as a teenager !
When I was a young 'lad' living in Ft. Hood Tx circa 1976 (my dad was military) my neighbor put this tune or actually the entire album on.....I was blown away....can you imagine how blown away I was when I saw the album cover and saw a picture of the AWB?
Stevie Wonder said it best; music is an universal language , and Average White Band from Scotland stabilized that statement! Nothing average about this band, one of the all time great bands! 🎷🎺🥁🎸🎹🎼🎵🎶🎙🎤
Saw them at fast lanes with my cousins in Asbury Park 1980. Sounded as good when I heard them on the radio in 73 when I was a sophomore in high school. Every body thought they were black. Soul is from the heart. One of my best funk and soul bands.
100% pure grade A funk. No additives, fillers or auto-tune. Remember listening to these guys on KGFJ in LA back in the day. My dad still has this on vinyl.
Pulled up to the AWB concert in MPLS, MN in the late 70's in a brand new Buick 225, dressed to the 9's, with a friend and two hot women, with 6th row dead center tickets. Awesome!
I was 14 when this came out & right away I was blown away by the drummer, Steve Ferrone & bassist, Alan Gorrie. I loved the whole album & then the following year, in '75, Bowie, along with some great players, including David Sanborn on sax, released Young Americans. I miss my old final collection. It was kinda like a point of pride among my friends and me to see who could come up with the coolest new album every month or two. This was my '74 pick. for the year 🤟❤
I went to the AWB concert in San Diego back in 1970-something. My date, Peggy, looked like Lauren Bacall! I remember dancing with her in the isle. My father dropped us off at the SD Sports Arena for the show. I couldn’t drive yet. Good times!!!!!
All Love to A W B the Funk is to cold ! Philly Love this band don't stop the music it's to hot. Ha ha ha Rick Brennan from Change North Philly Love Peace thank for your music brothers your jams was the joint! 333 .
This funky sound came out of Scotland, Scotland? Can you believe it? I certainly didn't, when I first heard AWB, I thought they were a group from Philadelphia, they had that Philly groove.
@@SGazer I never saw them when Hamish was the lead vocalist but I saw AWB many times. For my birthday and 25th anniversary coming up my husband ,RIP, rented the VIP loft for us at Hard Rock on the 2nd floor. The best seats in the house with no crowds!
Another incredible band from an incredible era…AWB STILL, can rock the house!!! They continue to tour this very day. As with most 70’s bands, they are minus all of they original members…but they groove is always hot! Those of us who grew up during the 70’s are spoiled rotten, when it comes to music…it was and still is…the best! 🕶🥁🎶🎼🎵🎤🎸🎹🎭
These guys have always been down for the movement. I saw them so many times as a kid and they were as kind and appreciative of our people welcoming them so hard. Guys from Europe never fully understood the confederacy crap that caused such a divide in this country but at every Kool Jazz Fest they showed out in outstanding fashion.
Clearly this band's name is contradictory to their abilities. There is NOTHING average about the 'AWB'. Their music has been a staple of my musical rotation from vinyl to cassette to CD and now .mp3. They are about as 'soulful' as you can get!!!
Hello ,Vic ,j't'ai reconnu ,tkt j'te couvre même si t'as changé quek p'tite détails....ah ouais désolé, i'm french! Et,changer de bass ok mais de là à prendre une huit cordes ! Wat's going on thundercat's est dans les cordes
Nobody talkin bout Alan’s Marvin Gaye vocal vibe?! ❤ Them horns tho! Fire! Steve Ferrone’s drumming! Stellar! I can’t stop listening! Hamish is just the cherry on top! ❤
Yes this band is tight and just a good band. Awesome cool it's good. All positive. Just the sound back in the day. Soul sound. Just a good grove. Back in the day was. Some great sounds. I love just about any kind of music sound. rythem beats horn section all good stuff.
I didn't realize that he passed away. I last saw AWB in Orlando, at the House of Blues in the late 90s. I think they were promoting their Soul Tattoo album. At one point, I had noticed he was in the audience area near the bar. I briefly spoke to him, and complemented him and his band. He was so gracious, and humble! He seemed very laid back and at ease. He related a few things to me, and I remember his very heavy Scottish accent. Their music was awesome! So yes, RIP Malcolm (Molly) Duncan.
Correction:. It was Onnie McIntire, the rhythm guitar player, I was referencing in my last comment, not Malcolm Duncan. I got their names mixed up. Nevertheless, RIP MALCOLM (Molly) Duncan.
Average White Band should be in the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame and it’s a travesty!!! When they released School Boy Crush in the 70’s they shook up the world!!! And they’re still doing the damn thang!!! Whatever happens they got my vote as one of the funkiest groups of all time!!!
