My name is Timothy Quinlivan from Perth, Australia. I found this a very well orchestrated and entertaining video. My country in fact won the Gold medal in this class at London 2012. No doubt the Danes gave their best. This video surely brings out the challenge of 470 sailing.
I dont think that the 470 is planning upwind tho, but going back makes it more stable and easyer to sail the waves. I sail 29er, so I dont know for shure, but if the 29er isnt able to plan upwind, I have hard to beleve that the 470 does :/
Wow impressive. And you have enough weight?? I'm guessing you normally sail in lighter winds right? When I was your age I sailed 420 0_o I could barely handle that... But now I'm sailing laser radial.. and 420

dude that stuff is made when the wind is way above your skills. the wind at the clip is average when the crew is back u have hell of a drift. when u go upwind on an average wind the crew must be be near the mast depending on his wight. the nose go in the water so the aft isn't. therefore u can climb in a steeper angle and u dont have the drag at your aft got it ;d;d ps the wind is hardly 13 m/s if thats windy .......
