I really like the effectiveness of this guy's aikido. It's not the prettiest but in reality it never will be. While I don't care for EVERYTHING done in yoshinkan, I do love the spirit and execution. Very nice demo fellas!

@jim jones It may be a bit of a late answer, but no one is being disrespectful. In Yoshinkan Aikido it is normal for students or Uke to dress in a normal Keikogi, which is more of a light Judo uniform, while the Sensei wears the complete ensemble. This has certain practical reasons, like that the position of the feet and legs are better visible. In Randori, due to the high number of people moving at once, it helps distinguishing the Shite. Besides, I'm rather thankful that I don't have to don the Hakama - so complicated :D

That's why they teach Yoshinkan Aikido to the riot police in Japan, because it "doesn't" work on the streets...?

it depends on what kind of street attack u get,once I was attacked outside a disco by two bouncers with lumps of four by two,using aiki sword defences ,left one flat on his back on pavement ,other not wanting to fight anymore-uyeshiba is a master in my belief,but real combat system is aiki-jujutsu,all do's,judo,karate-do,etc are sports forms or harmony forms-from silat guru,judo,karate,hapkido,boxing,kickboxing,thai boxing practioner,to name a few and I found many good things in aikido

@kingacar1 my sensei always says that yes, the tools are there. If we develop the speed, the confidence, the timing and the power which aikido can provide then yes, it works. Just have a think for a moment what some of those throws might do to somebody who isn't trained to fall safely. Sure it's not dojo conditions, but it is possible to learn how to handle yourself - although primarily we prefer to learn how to avoid the fight in the first place. Fights are uncertain. Don't have them.

@packoftwenty dude i hate to be the one to tell you this but aikido has many techniques to use ur attacker's punch or kick to make him take rolls and rolls..im only doing aikido for 3 months and i know like 3-4 techniques for that only...use ur imagination a bit..the attacks u see could be smthing else lolz its that way in training and show offs to eliminate the chances he gets hurt.I only need my little finger to make a punch or kick to go elsewhere and my attacker rolling.

@packoftwenty + its important to learn all these ways to take some1 off you cuz once he succeds in grabbing u u are dead meat cuz no dodging around there...in aikido u have to keep moving and be in touch with the foe to succed in takin over the situation..and all that in a neutral way.Without considering ur opponent an opponent or attacker but just a co-operator

i don't blame you for your ignorance. It may look "fake & fancy" but it's not, if you do not fall the way they do, then your arms will LITERALLY snap off. and that's why it looks kind of "fake", Yes, it is true aikido takes years to master, since you are going against your natural ability. when you see a fight, what is the most common thing you see? a punch. but in aikido you throw, which you never see, there is a difference between doesn't work and takes a long time to master.

@packoftwenty who are you to say that it wont work? who are you to claim that aikido is a fraud? please educate yourself better before making such ignorant remarks. Aikido goes so much deeper than your "won't work" gibberish.. i don't even know why i take the time to write this
