Those were turkeys on that tractor, Matt, but it reminds me of a chicken story. One hot Florida summer night, I was heading back to Jacksonville from Tallahassee where I'd had court hearings that day. Had the top down on my 68 Impala convertible with a 327, buzzing down I-90, a crappy old road, heading east. Pitch velvety black out, broiling out, alone on the road, a very dull drive through rural Florida. Before long, I recognize I'm in poultry country, and I also start to smell a hot, sticky stink. Not long after that, I begin to make out a tiny pale square WAY Up ahead of me. Slowly, over 15 or 20 minutes, I gain on it, and only then do I start to be able to make it out. The back of a chicken cage truck full of chickens, set up just like the one in your video, I've been following in the heat at about 70 mph, wind and draght blowing all over me and through my hair. By then, I'm feeling almost laquered stiff with chicken gunk. That air had been blasting through that long trailer's length of chicken cages stacked high, at 70 mph, for probably 40 minutes. One of the more disgusting realizations I've ever had to come to on the road. Ugh. I hope never to repeat it.
