@@evana6425 They are! Too bad these are SMART KEY-CARDED now, but the good news is you can still ride the high rise up to 42 which at least would help make these elevator rides worth dying for
I stayed at this hotel in June 2015. I was in room 4630 which is presidential suite on the 46th floor in the 42-47 elevator bank. During my stay, a couple of floors were covered in black for renovation and I saw the elevators were starting to be modernized. I did an elevator tour of this massive hotel.
Actually, i think they would unlock them or unsmart key card the elevators during huge events. But i could be wrong. They give you special keys if you atay in the hotel. They will if you politely ask.
Unfortunately, they are now smart locked. And it makes it a lot harder for people to use the elevators when there is events. The elevators will take a minute longer.
I've haven't been on, but I've known these elevators for as long as I can remember. I call these the vertical magic carpets of the US because of the view they give. I'd be willing to go on elevators like these if only I wasn't so chicken about my ears popping.
If you're talking about the circle above the elevator buttons that's a scanner for room keys. Many hotels only allow you to select a floor after scanning your room key in order to restrict the floors with rooms to only people actually staying in the hotel.
@@mariokart8715Unfortunately, they are key carded but not smart keyed. Unfortunately, Marriott is becoming a new thing where they are now being smart keyed.
@@mariokart8715They could just be there in case they need to key card then because something crazy was happening nearby. But, we never know what could happen.
