Modern Day Cowboy, Signs, Little Suzi, Heavens Trail, Gettin' Better, Edison's Medicine.....A forgotten Gem of a Band for sure.

One of the most overlooked rock n roll bands out there. What happens if Van Halen was a Southern Rock band.

Fun Fact: The vocalist was originally a long haul truck driver before he formed Tesla in the mid 80s. Their first three albums were great 80s traditional metal.

These guys are one of the most criminally underrated bands.

Tesla are top notch musicians. This live version sounds like the studio version, it's so flawless and accurate. Many of their songs are ballads (what they're known for), and they're all catchy songs. In 1989, we spent the summer with Tesla on repeat, along with many of the other popular bands. You owe it to yourself to listen to some more songs, as have been suggested here in the comments.

Tesla is one of my favorite bands. Ever since I heard their debut album in high school I've been a fan.

They're older now, but you can see all the experience putting on a great show. They know what they're doing. Their first 3 albums (Mechanical Resonance, The Great Radio Controversy, and Psychotic Supper) are all flat out classics. Great songs, killer playing, and rock n roll attitude for days. Tesla is one of the best, period.

Tesla should have been a huge band. They were seriously underrated. The song writing was fantastic....very diverse. Check out "What You Give" or "Song and Emotion" or "Love Song". You can't go wrong with Tesla.

Tesla kicks ass! Some of my favorite songs are "Modern Day Cowboy", "Ez Come Ez Go", "Signs", "Paradise", "Little Suzi", "Edison's Mediicine", "Hang Tough", "Before My Eyes", "Changes", & "Love Song". There's lots more but I think you should do any one of these next and then continue on.

I think Tesla is one of the best bands ever. That is usually there first song in concert. Great live performance. Go see a show if you ever get the chance. They sound just like there CDs live. Met them all back in the 90s and there were all super cool dudes.

With Tesla, there's no bullshit. You get a solid band that is killer all the way around. The vocals, the bass playing, the drums, the twin guitar attacks...everything in one package.

They are talented beyond belief and have never got their due credit! I've seen them live 15 times and each and every time they were top notch! Besides that they love their fans and are ever gracious with their time for them. Thanks for the reaction! I loved just watching you smile :D

When I was in HS in the late 80s (1987 to 1991) there were just as many Tesla T-shirts being worn around school as other big bands of the day.

These guys are still touring today been together 30+ years my wife seen him a half a dozen times anyway fantastic band go see him live you’ll have fun take your wife

Finally, someone doing this great underrated band of the 80s. I still have my two favorite albums of all time Mechanical Resonance and The Great Radio Controversy where every song I love! My 1st concert was Badlands, Tesla & Great White in a sandwich. They were all great but Tesla was on another level! His voice was soooo strong, but that was almost 33 yrs ago also. Man, I'm old!😅🍻

Yo this was a great recc. Most ppl only know their ballads ... Tesla is one of those bands that had massive hits and massive appeal but still flew under the radar. I saw them once and was blown away by how good they were live. So I became a fan and saw them 4 more times on the next 2 tours. No matter who they were on tour with they were the superior by far. Highly recommend Heavens Trail , modern Day Cowboy awesome overlooked band

Tesla is arguably the best guitar band to come out of that era of hair metal. They got lumped in with those bands but they did not belong with them, they never wore glammy outfits or make up, they just let the guitars do the talking.

I grew up here in their hometown Sacramento and hit the show every time. Some over- looked songs. Lazy Daze n crazy nights, (changes) is like a ticking clock perfect song. Love me, flight to nowhere, too late 4 luv, ez cum ez and ez go, makin magic...the list is every song #1 band period😎👍👍👍👍 oh yeah and Rock me 2 the top

Out of all the hair bands of the 80s, these guys were one of my favorites with a southern twist. Song and Emotion is a great tune.

Just a kick ass rock n roll band

I had the pleasure of seeing these guys live a looooooong time ago (think they were supporting Def Leppard). They were top notch and this song in particular always goes on any rock compilation i have on in the car

My favorite hometown band. Awesome Bluesy hard rock... They had 4 platiminum selling albums and have been around since the mid 80's. they are very very underrated. Other platinum selling bands from my hometown(Sacramento) are Cake Deftones and Papa Roach. Edisons Medicine is probably my favorite track from them.

One of their songs in particular sounds like it should be a staple of classic rock radio like many Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, and Skynyrd songs are. It is called "What You Give"

Great band. I personally love all their songs, but if I'm recommending a few, I would say Heaven's Trail, Modern Day Cowboy, Goodbye Paradise, Rocket Queen, and Games People Play, which is a cover. If you can, listen to the studio versions, because Jeff Keith's voice is pretty much shot.

Tesla are a highly UNDERRATED band! They are incredible, based in my adopted hometown of Sacramento and are one of the only bands from the hair band days that I'm not a bit embarrassed to say I still like! Next check out ANYTHING from the album "Five Man Accoustical Jam", though I would suggest "Signs", it was a HUGE hit at the time and it/the album inspired MTV's Unplugged series, challenging artists to play all acoustic sets and sound good. (That would NEVER happen today!) FMAJ is half Tesla songs, half covers of The Beatles, The Stones and many others. It truly demonstrates how talented they are. They start every show with Comin' Atcha Live and on FMAJ, they slide directly in to the Greatful Dead's "Trucking". One day after work downtown they were playing a free concert in a park about 2 blocks from work. Maybe 100-200 people standing and watching.

They opened with this song in June of 1986,at the Fast & Cool Club, in Lubbock, TX. I gpt to hang out with them after the show for an hour or so. I was invited to get on their bus to go to the Texas Jam, at Cowboys Stadium. Being the 17 yr old turk I was, I said I had to be at work the next morning...doh! 😩 😆

Tesla is a Sacramento band. Have seen there many times here in Sacramento over the past 30 years. The first concert I ever took my wife too in mid 90’s was a New Year’s Eve show in Sacramento to see Tesla. She still talks about and she doesn’t really care for hard rock or metal.

I saw Tesla live in Vancouver BC at Rogers Arena with Def Leppard and Poison headlining was Def Leppard in 2018 I think it was what a awesome show.

The guitarist with the cap is a replacement guitarist since the band's reformation in 2004. (They debuted in 1986) But I can tell that he's kicking it just as well as the original dude.

For sure check out Modern Day Cowboy and Little Suzy 🤘 Saw Tesla a few years ago open for the Scorpions...both are still amazing.

They were lumped into the "Hair band" catagory and they werent. They were a blue collar jeans and T shirt hard rock band.

Can't believe you haven't heard them before, I'm sure you have, just didn't know who you were hearing. No Way Out (Heavens trail) is another good one. The Great Radio Controversy album probably went platinum, these guys were all over radio a while back. Rock, metal, folk whatever anyone wants to label them as , they are a great band!

Just start from the first album and listen to it all. Great life lyrics in most of there songs.

His voice was so great when he was younger. Not that this is bad, but he just doesn't sound like himself. Tommy and Frank are still awesome though.

I never understood why these guys weren’t huge. Their biggest success actually came from a cover of Signs on an acoustic live album they put out. You should check out Song and Emotion, a song they wrote for the late Steve Clark of Def Leppard. Also, if you like the style, I think you might also enjoy Cinderella.

Tesla's awesome! Saw em back in 2000 or so and they kicked ass. They were part of the "hair metal" era (just about everything but thrash was lumped into that category), but they were one of the bands that had sustaining legitimacy, like van halen, def leppard, motley, gnr... etc. Good chance this might be one of those bands where you hear a song and are like, I've heard this but didn't know who it was. I'm sure the comments are already being flooded with great suggestions, so I'll utilize my like button.

Great band and like others have said, the studio versions are much better since the singers voice is pretty shot nowdays. All the stuff off their first few albums is gold, they are all catchy as hell, and they were very popular from 87-early nineties. Tesla was still selling out concerts when the other hard rock bands were not doing so well.

You heard that bass! Yes, the guitar players are amazing, vocals are amazing, but most people don't catch Brian Wheat's dope ass bass playing. Good catch. Loved that you loved this. I highly recommend Mama's Fool by this band. You will get requests for songs like "Love Song," "what you give," "signs," "modern day cowboy..." all the radio hits. Check out mama's fool, Heaven's trail, try so hard, paradise... songs that aren't requested as often. We can all listen to general radio hits. Check out stuff that wasn't. Tesla is outstanding. I will also recommend Edison's Medicine because the song is a true testament to why the band named themselves after Nikola Tesla and it has some rad musicianship. I have known tesla when they were city kids over 30 year's Brian Wheat; Frank Hannon; Jeff Keith; Troy are some the best musicians I know and really down to earth people if you ever have a chance to see them please do. Go to tesla the band check them out iam going to see them June 11 2022
