I've never been a huge fan (get it) of the GE90 variants but one thing that is undeniably mesmerising is that start up. To hear that fuel ignite continuously and progress to higher pitches slowly until it's self-sustainable at idle thrust is beautiful.
In 1971, as a 21-year-old, I went on a plane with 2 jet engines for the first time, that was from Schiphol (A'dam) to London ... with a BAC111, I will never forget that plane, but especially those 2 engines. They've become a bit too quiet for me in recent years. These BAC111 engines look a bit like my Zanussi washing machine when it spins at 1400 rpm.😉 ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-bAsUDMClGB8.html
My enduring memory of an AA 777 was flying LHR - ORD to then fly on to LAX. Young Australian meeting new friends in LA. Hearing the American captain's voice over the P.A. "Cabin crew, prepare for our departure" in an American accent made the experience real. (as a young Aussie, always heard the accent on TV, never for real). Start up, then take off was unreal... Holy s@#$ I am going to the USA! At cruise, 41000ft these engines were a dull rumble in the back ground. And my drink barely rippled. The AA 777 was the start of an amazing adventure I will remember forever.
It's a century, many generations of development. This cannot be created without a century of research and development from many fields and 100s of thousands of good minds. Not just aerospace engineering but material science, physics, mathematics, historical models etc.
NO F****G WAY! I remember being at Admirals club when I listened to a B777-300 engine start I'm pretty sure that was your aircraft, same day aug 6! I was waiting to take LAX-DFW in a B772. Just love GE-90 greeting!
Nice. I used to be afraid of flying. Now I enjoy it. I always love watching takeoffs. My favorite part of the flight. And the view on a sunny day at LAX is awesome. It's been a few years since I've been through there and I love the view. Thanks for the post.
Cool man! My last 737 flight, a week before Christmas last year, the takeoff was so rough, we were shaking, rattle and roll, very bumpy for the first 3-4 mins of flight until the plane settled down into calmer air, the rest of the flight was smooth as glass, but my seatmate, who was on the aisle, I was on the window side, he turned and said to me: I don't remember a takeoff that violent! :D
@@DrakeDHDerr I’d much rather that extra money being in my pocket or bank account. I don’t mind sitting in economy at the back. As long as I have a window seat, I’m happy. I end up at the destination at the same time as those people up front even though they pay way more money than I do. ✈️ 🌴 😄
What is amazing about the GE90, all of that 18260 lbs of weight so far forward, from what looks be the skinny part of the wing, at full throttle, it is a Miracle, WOW.
i was for 6 days in LAX in The hotel Wyndham in 1998. with the Royal Dutch airforce Asosation. 50 years Anyversery. cool,i visit also the USS John,C.Stennis Aircraftcarier.
I will be flying on a 777-300ER in two days. It’s a wonderful aircraft, with a flawless safety record. Not a single fatality or hull loss in its history. One of the greatest aircraft Boeing ever produced
@@NDSAviation1 hello, forgot to post an update, sfo passing alaska, we hit bad turbulence, felt like the aircraft was being turned left and right, didnt realize we were flying through rain in the corner of alaska, we also hit bumpy turbulence, passing japan, coming back from japan in the same spot between russia and alaska, very bad turbulence, felt like the aircraft was falling, ill be making a similar flight next year.
Wtf is all the overhead bin door slamming?! Like every 30 seconds to one minute, someone is slamming a bin door. Ruins the sound of the GE90. Otherwise, great video.
I don’t think they were retracted that quickly. The acceleration height was probably 1500 feet, but even if it was 3000 feet, plane was light and climbed quickly. But like I said, the flaps were retracted at a fairly normal time.
@@NDSAviation1 That makes sense, the one 77W flight I flew was completely full. It was LAX-MIA and the pilots wanted to avoid hurricane Laura without going around it so we flew crazy fast and ended up shaving off 40 minutes of our planned flight time.
Yeah, American uses these wide bodies domestically since the international demand was low. Utterly obnoxious for a 2.5 hour flight? Absolutely. Did I enjoy it though? Absolutely
