I have the PRG-600 with the resin, rubber, DuraSoft, whatever… strap. It’s the most comfortable strap that’s come with any of my Casio products (G-Shock, Protek/Pathfinder). For such a function laden watch, it is super legible and enjoyable to look at. It’s an exceptional watch, in my opinion. Thanks for the review.
I have the Casio PAG-240 and found if you set the temp approximately 10°F less than actual it fairly accurately compensates for our body temp influence on the sensor. Hope that helps.
I have an old protrek model from 2007, changed the accu in 2011 (was not wearing it often). Since 2011 (wearing it almost everyday), never changed again...simply impressive!
Neat. I've worn a tough solar Pro Trek ABC watch for over a decade of High Sierra backpacking, rock climbing, and camping. It's been dunked, bashed, beaten, frozen, roasted and all with aplomb. Very functional and reliable watches, that is for sure.
Great review. Thank you. I just got that model with "regular LCD". Love it. Very light and to me much more comfortable than the ProTrek 3510Y I tried which had a huge sensor on the left side which kept digging into my arm. And no sapphire is no biggie. I got a screen protector for it off Amazon. Can't even tell it's there. :)
I have a PRG 60 and now I bought a PRW 6000 and PRW 6900Y L-5. The 60 is very chunky and hard to read. The 6000 is similar to your watch. I like it a lot. The 6900Y is in my opinion gimmicky in looks, but for some reason it works. Love the last too, but all three are great watches.
@@PerthWAtch Every feature is made to be significant to the bushcraft world. The corners are made to imply the edge of an ax, the small indicator at the 10 o’clock position is a bush knife, the face is textured to look like a cast iron Dutch oven, the secondhand colors are a flame progression. The leather strap is spark resistant. Like I said, gimmicky but I like it.
Love the watch, Ivan. Actually, right now, I found PRG-600-1CR (with Positive display & resin strap) at $189 from USA Amazon. When I first watched this video, I wanted to buy one, but I could not pull the trigger due to negative display (hard to see the numbers due to my advanced age, ha ha) & cloth strap (never been a fan of). As you said, I also think that is the best looking Pro Trek watch among all the Casio Pro Trek watches and I really love the dial design and rather bit large LED display for the numbers. $189!!! you really can not beat the price. Thanks Ivan and have an awesome day.
I totally understand what you mean regarding the negative LCD, I reckon those who say it makes no difference to readability are in denial! $189 is an extremely good price and I might find it hard to resist picking up a second colour just because :)
Tremendous functionality if you need it, really good that is solar. Its huge, like having a pocket watch strapped to your arm. The price of a plastic strap is a shock considering you can get a watch with one on for less than £20.
So does the World Time bezel rotate? Does rotating it change the world time zone tracked? Not sure of the functuality of a World Time bezel without a GMT hand to track two time zones. That said I do own a ProTrek (mine has compass points on the bezel), I do like and use it and I do appreciate their functuality.
No, bezel is fixed. You choose your timezone from the bezel with seconds hand when adjusting the watch. You track second timezone by selecting world time function. You can have second timezone in the digital display or you can switch it with hometime in analog hands.
Yeah I think you’re confusing this with a GMT bezel - it isn’t, and it does not need to rotate. The second time zone is shown using the digital display.
I bought mine for $300USD several years ago after seeing it on Nutnfancy's channel. I bought the Safari orange one, which I was told was made for the Japanese domestic market. Last year I started seeing them at Sam's Club for $189!
Hi mate, I’ve never seen it in stores or listed for sale in local retailers - the usual best bet is Angus & Coote. However, there have certainly been eBay sellers claiming to have stock within Australia.
When I first got mine, it had an alarm that would notify me of when the pressure dropped suddenly, indicating a storm coming. I must have accidentally turned that alarm off at some point and can't figure out how to turn it back on. I've scoured the internet for answers to no avail. Also I use a product called Armor Suit for case protection. It's just a screen protector that I cut to size.
The module instructions can be downloaded for free (in case you lost your copy). Look on page E-64 under "To enable or disable the barometric pressure change indicator". support.casio.com/storage/en/manual/pdf/EN/009/qw5497.pdf
I just bought this watch (by “mistake”) on eBay. It’s the PRG 600-1. Poor quality photos and the description was for a PRW6600Y (which I wanted). It came today. Not a bad looking watch.
I love mine I've use it pretty much every day love the fact it's solar powered and that it's titanium as always awesome video can't wait to hear what you think about it
Similar but not the same - just like compared with the PRW-6100 I showed, this one isn’t officially a “tough movement” (with auto home hand position thing), and doesn’t have multi-band 6.
@@PerthWAtch i know that but i still dont understand the exact reading of the normal atmosphere plus the altitude levels for example i am in Karachi what is the normal ground level on the meter plus if you are on the mountain what is the normal air level to breath we have the K2 second largest mountain so i was wondering what reading it will show?
Altimeter is just an estimate and need to calibrate with what you know your local altitude to be. Barometer is a straight pressure reading so that will accurate to your current air pressure.
Misleading text in the video title. I watched the whole thing and never once saw a PRW3000 or even the unnecessarily larger PRW3500, the obviously best looking and most practical ProTreks of all time.
@@PerthWAtch Kind sir, I am sorry to hear about your horrible mental illness. As we all know and is stated fact, the only good looking watches are digital. All analog watches are fashion watches, i.e useless. Best wishes on your road to recovery.
@@joesephkingston1621 3510Y was garbage, heavy and digging into arm with oversized sensor on the left side. They should have made it same size as the PRG600. So much nicer and easier to read without the inverted screen. Backlight is much better too... so yeah, your theory of "all analog watches are fashion watches" is complete joke lol
