What a fantastic animated film here. Peter B Parker was awesome and should get a a project in the works. Miles was awesome and we got a Gwen spider woman! What was your reaction? What did we miss? You guys should react to Satoshi Kon films: Perfect Blue, Tokyo Godfathers, Paprika. They are the greatest animated Films ever made. So amazing that even Christopher Nolan has ripped them off
In the comics, Peni Parker is a lot different. Rather than being a bubbly anime girl, her universe is inspired by Evangelion. The comic she's in was written by Gerard Way, the creator of Umbrella Academy and singer for My Chemical Romance
@@vjash9149 Yes, the EVA pilots make cameos in her class (minus that new girl from the Rebuild movies), and, I don't remember exactly, but she fights either the gang from Akira or the agents of Section 9 in Ghost in the Shell, or BOTH even. I completely forgot about the Gerard Way connection, though.
I went to see this movie in theater with no expectations. Came out of the theater completely amazed and in awe. The "What's up Danger" will remain iconic for years to come.
same. I always was a fan of the Spider-Man franchise/movies ,, but I just went into the movie theatre hoping I'd leave with a good movie experience. Instead, I left with the singular best movie theatre watching experience I have ever had, making this one of my favorite pieces of media to ever exist. I am in love with this movie.
Gotta be honest: Jaded and wear down older Spider-Man is my one of my favorite parts of this movie. We got so much teenager Spider-Man in movies and series, seeing a old Spider-Man is a nice change.
@@BankaiFever Not everyone has English as a first language, being fluent in it is good enough (some can't even learn a second language). Also, being annoying just for the sake of it ain't cute.
Fun fact: near the end when miles is getting momentum to launch himself to the button, he jumps then thwips onto the rotating cylinder. This gives just enough speed to launch him next to the button. Both Gwen and Peter say to each other: “I didn’t teach him that!” “Neither did I!” He actually replicated this technique by watching HIS spidey do the same thing all the way back near the beginning!
My mother watched this movie with me for the first time and she said that it blew her back to the original comics she stole from her older brothers and read in the 60's. She's not usually a superhero film person but she said that she truly connected to it and she would watch it as many times as I wanted because of the art style that blew her back to childhood. I love this movie (and I'm not a huge fan of spiderman)!
Fun fact: Donald “Childish Gambino” Glover played Uncle Aaron in the MCU Spider-Man: Homecoming and he actually referenced having a “nephew” in the neighborhood
This movie's big "fun fact" which I'm sure others will point out in the comments too, is the frame rate change. Before Miles gels with his powers, he's animated at only 12 frames per second, although the movie plays at 24 frames per second. This gives him that distinct comic-y jank. Then in the leap of faith shot he switches to 24 frames, becoming much smoother and more in tune to the environment. It's a brilliant creative decision that's easy to miss mechanically but still has huge emotional impact whether you are aware of it or not.
Best ever Spider-man movie, hands down. Was never a Miles Morales fan from the comics but not only did this movie turn this character around but it's just mindblowing how good the animation is, and how well it's written. Somehow it wrote the classic Spider-man tale without simply being a remake of the original. Much respect to the makers!
SPIDER-HAM originally debuted in 1983 in MARVEL Tales as a one shot idea. Two years later in 1985, 'Peter Porker, The Spectacular Spider-Ham' comic came out, bi-monthly lasting 'til mid-1987 and 17 issues. I actually Bought the first 5 or 6, off the rack as they came out, at a local comic shop and most likely, still have them bagged and stored in my pops attic. The owner stopped selling/ordering them before the end of the series due to only myself and one other Nerd buying them. (btw, the OG 1983 debut also featured Captain Americat (a cat version of Captain America), Hulk-Bunny (a rabbit version of Hulk) and Goose Rider (a goose version of Ghost Rider).
Fun detail I love is that the man BWAH sound in Prowler’s theme is meant to be a darker exaggerated version of the creak his window makes when Miles opens it.
I don't remember the moment you're referring to in *Into the Spiderverse,* but I can tell you that around the 1940's, to say that something was "applesauce" meant that it was nonsense or BS.
Glad that you guys are reacting to this because it’s everybody’s favourite Spider-Man animated movie of 2018. And the funniest thing that’s ever happened is the popular pointing meme in the post credits scene.
Peter Porker, The Amazing Spider-Ham, is actually from a Marvel comic book from the 80's. Just for laughs, they started a whole cartoony series, complete with various cartoon-animal versions of various standard Marvel characters, such as Ducktor Doom, Captain Americat, Goose Rider. It predates the Simpson's Spider-Pig by a very long time. One of the big jokes was that Peter Porker was a spider who was bitten by a radioactive pig.
Definitely my favorite Spider-man film, animated or otherwise. If you guys enjoyed the animation here and are open to watching more animated content with mature storytelling, I _highly_ recommend giving the Netflix series 'Arcane' a watch! Its the only thing that comes close stylistically, imo, and the story is incredible. Very different, but great if you want something you can really sink your teeth into.
If you want to see another movie animated like this, you watch The Mitchels vs the Machines by the same studio who made Spiderman into the spiderverse. I love that movie. Theres also one of my favorite movie of all time, The Bad Guys, absolutely awesome. And of course Puss in Boots the Last wish. All these movies are amongst my favorites. I am sure you will enjoy all of them.
I haven’t finished the video so idk if you guys clocked it but Peter B. Parker is actually OUR universe’s Spider-Man, and Miles and the rest are from the alternate universes. And Peter Porker was a spider that got bit by a radioactive pig lol. Love this movie so much!
Folks who only know the movies and TV shows probably don't realize that Peter B. Parker is the most comic-accurate (Earth 616) Spiderman in the movie - not the Peter Parker we start the movie with.
One thing Sony has proven in the past few years: they can do Miles VERY well. In both this movie and the games, he is better than any Peter we have ever seen.
i don’t even enjoy superheroes movies all that much but my friend showed me this movie after we watched puss in boots in the cinema and it’s probable one of the best movies i’ve seen
So glad you enjoyed this amazing movie! My favorite Spider Man movie by far. If you liked it you guys would probably also love Arcane, it has amazing animation and great characters and story, one of the best animated shows in a long time, don’t let the League of Legends association scare you.
One of the best animated movies of all time, it's visually creative, tells a beautiful and heartfelt story and is never dull. I adore it ^-^ Also have a recommendation for y'all, though bring your tissues if you do watch this. Brendan Fraser just won an Oscar for his performance, for a movie called The Whale. I think it's an incredibly beautiful but hard film to watch, and would make for a very interesting reaction. (Though again, expect to cry, especially as parents) Considering what Brendan had to go through in his real life, with how Hollywood has spat him out due to him opening up about being SA'd when he was an actor, I feel it's important to support him and show Hollywood and everyone that we stand with Brendan ^-^
my absolute favorite Spider-man movie. hands down. I first saw it on a plane and fell in love immediately! I've since seen it an inordinate amount of times and never tire of seeing reactors lose their minds over the story, soundtrack, and animation. I'm so hyped for the sequel that I'm finally planning to go to the theater for the first time since the pandemic. love you guys! ❤
Gosh I love this movie. Great music, great visuals, great characters... phenomenal. I know he isn't a main character but lol I fell in love with Spider-Man Noir in this one. His aesthetic is just *chefs kiss* 👌
This and Across the Spider-Verse are my favorite Superhero movies. Just pure love letters to all things Spider-Man. These movies used the multiverse the best out of all the Superhero films. A true visual masterpiece.
12:45 Arcane, Arcane, Arcane. With Spiderverse, Puss in Boots the Last Wish, Lego movies, etc. there has been a spoil of riches with animation in the past several years; however, there is one animation series that is the pinnacle of recent animated storytelling... Arcane!
I absolutely loved this movie, but if I had to give a nitpick I would point out that it doesn't really make sense that Gwen shows up before the colider goes off. She has one throwaway line that the portal "threw her into last week," but none of the other Spider peeps time traveled. On top of that, her spider sense told her to go to visions academy despite Spider sense not being detailed enough to give directions in any other scene, it just gives vibes. Really, all of Gwen before her fight with doc ock felt like they wanted to include her so they made up contrivances to get her in the movie earlier.
I didn't watch this reaction when it came out. I'm kinda mixed on how I feel about the Spiderman franchise, so I never saw this movie when it came out. The newest movie looks amazing though, so I definitely needed to watch this and I feel all caught up now, so thank you!
It's rare that a comic book movie these days can feel so fresh and different to what we usually get. It feels like a comic book literally came to life. This movie is easily the best Spider-Man movie (I think)!!! Glad you guys got to experience this masterpiece for the first time
Spider-Ham is not from the Simpsons joke--in fact, Spider-Ham is the oldest and longest-running of the spinoff Spiderman comics shown here, started in 1983 as a parody comic (Spider-Noir was made in 2009, Miles Morales in 2011, and Spider-Gwen and Peni Parker both in 2014)!
The animation in this movie changed the game. When I first saw this, it blew me away. Not surprised that it won an Oscar for Best Animated Picture. Across the Spiderverse is phenomenal. Always love to see first time reactions to this movie.
The cartoon Spider-Man wasn't a Simpsons reference believe it or not. Back in the Eighties, Marvel Comics used to publish a kid's comic book called "Peter Porker: the Spectacular Spider-Ham" and that's where he's from.
spider hamm i remember him from the 80's "He first appeared in the one-shot humor comic book Marvel Tails Starring Peter Porker, the Spectacular Spider-Ham (November 1983),"
I think the only gripe I had with this movie was (I could be wrong) but because Spiderman Noir is from the 40s, he never was able to use webs like other Spidermen. In fact he primarily uses guns and stuff (can still crawl up walls though). Doesnt take away from the movie, but that was the only thing that made me turn my head when I first saw it
This movie took a mediocre copy and paste legacy character and finally made him the amazing spider-man he should have always been. I am proud to say Miles's movie is the best spider-man ever made
Still love how Miles was animated to 12fps until after he made the leap of faith while the rest of the world and characters were set to 24fps. All to symbolize how he wasn't used to his new powers. You could really tell when Peter and Miles were swinging side-by-side after they escaped the complex with Doc Oct. Also Spider-Man Noir Live-Action Series in the Works at Amazon.
I’m excited that the Spectacular Spider-Man will be in the Across The Spiderverse as a cameo. His show was cancelled due to split ownership. Sony gave up TV rights on Spider-Man to get more movie concessions at the time the movies were blowing up. Now Sony owns the show, story, and representation of the characters but Marvel owns the characters so neither can continue the show without the other’s permission.
Uncle Arron is the prowler and was in Spider-Man homecoming played by Donald glover who was actually in this movie too being watched by uncle Arron in his apartment you can see him on the tv in his Spider-Man pj scene from community and he only did that scene due to all the rumors of him being miles morales back then. This meme broke so many walls Deadpool would be proud
Found u guys out in one of those crazy youtube trips where u just keep going and damn rly enjoyed watching ur reactions and intakes. Easiest subscription of my life. Got a whole lot of free content now thanks!!!
It's been nearly 5 years since it came out but every time I watch it, it feels like the first time. This is my current, "#1 movie of all-time". For reference, I have a masters degree in English & Film from a very good school in the UK. I've seen movies you may not have heard of by directors you probably didn't know existed. I say, keep 'em. Keep your CT Dreyer & your Erich von Stronheim. Keep your Jean Renoir & your Vittoria di Sicca. Keep your Truffaut & your Goddard, I'm simply not interested. This film, this animated movie for kids/young adults, is a stone cold MASTERPIECE.
Actually Sony has the rights they bought it. And fox had fantastic 4 and X-Men marvel studios has the fantastic 4 and X-Men now there sharing spider man.
I'm not sure if you'll read this but I don't think these are spoilers, but I'll explain Peni, Spider-Noir, and Spider-Ham's comic origins here: first of all, the movie (and by extension No Way Home) is based on and inspired by a big spider-man comic event known as "The Spider-verse" where Marvel introduces all sorts of Spider-men from different universes. and Peni, Spider-Noir, and Spider-gwen were all introduced in this storyline, with all of them coming from one-shot comic books. Peni Parker is from a universe set in futuristic New York where her father, who is unnamed and possibly either a scientist or a policeman, died while piloting the SP//dr Suit (the mech suit she uses here, but with a more humanoid design.) her Uncle Ben and Aunt May, Scientists who worked on creating the SP//dr Suit, tells her that only she can pilot the suit because of how she has her father's DNA, which is implied to be compatible with the genetically enhanced psychic spider that is an integral part of how the suit works (it's as if the Spider and the Suit are connected and only those with Peni's father's DNA which is implied to be connected to the spider can integrate with both the spider and the suit.) and so Peni is introduced to the spider and she is bitten. While she is at least Half-Asian in the comics, she's not as Anime-Kawaii as she is in this film, her personality is more brooding, and serious, having lost her father and having the responsibility to continue the SP//dr Project on his behalf with her Uncle and Aunt. I hope we explore her more in the movies but it seems unlikely. Spider-Noir is basically our normal spider-man but set during the time of the Great Deppression. his comic one-shot feels a lot like a Noir Film which is why he's black and white here and hence his out-of-universe name "Spider-noir". not much to say here, it's pretty much still the same, just translate all of our normal Peter-Parker's story into the 30s. And Spider-Ham was introduced so much earlier than these two, as well as Miles. he was first depicted in the 80s comic Marvel Tails featuring an animal-parody of Spider Man.
You guys NEED to watch puss in boots the last wish, not only is it a great movie but you will also be able to see the influence that into the spider verse has had on animation.
Love your reaction channel😍 It would be great if you guys react to FROM season 1 (MGM+) before season 2 starts on April. That show is a massive hidden gem and more people need to watch it. Found it randomly and finished it same day and started seaching for the second season😂 Love from South Africa😘
@@BaddMedicine you can see that in Gwen's back story. She kicked the lizard and then he turned into a man. After that the scene comes where she goes to check out Peter 😞
You guys should watch Puss In Boots: The Last Wish. It's animation is done in a similar style to Spider-verse. I think Spider-verse has the better story, but The Last Wish is still EXTREMELY well written, and tackles some pretty heavy topics. It's technically a sequel, but you don't need to have seen the first movie in order to understand this one.
in the ultimate universe, peter was severely injured due to jumping in the way of a bullet fired from a sniper rifle by punisher which was aimed at captain america, (read the comics if you wanna know more) spidey tanked it then headed off to fight goblin eventually winning but at the cost of his life. (i believe that's how it went down, i could be wrong about certain things.)
I think you all may like Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief movie! It’s based off of a book series like Hunger Games, Harry Potter, & Maze Runner. Sea of Monsters is the sequel
Spider-Ham has been in the comics since 1983, so no, he didn't start from the Simpsons joke 😊 And Penni Parker (anime girl) is from a comic written by Gerard Way (yes, of My Chemical Romance).
