Dude!!! Those comic looking graphic menu screens are absolutely SICK! seriously! I don't get excited like this ever. Did you or someone privately do those? Or is this online somewhere?!?! I want this!
I own one and will disagree. Unless you start from scratch with a replacement board and build it out for 2-3 players. There's not enough room for a proper 4 players. It would work, but it would be cramped(already is for me).
Good job modding them but it looks like your Raspberry Pi might get smashed between your cabinet and the wall but have you looked into the Odroid XU4 yet? They're basically about the same thing as a Raspberry Pi but more powerful so I believe some of the games and systems like Nintendo 64 or Sega Dreamcast will play a lot better on an Odroid XU4 but you can check it out yourself.
@@frickmagic hello I am trying to purchase a street fighter arcade and add the raspberry Pi 4 with the lite gun. Can you give me a price on how much you would charge to do mines like that?
Awesome build! I hope you realize you can get in big trouble for selling these (with the games). I've known people that went to jail for a couple years for doing similar stuff. Selling it without the games but with the pie is totally fine.
Pyrate LLama Recording Studio of course, I never sell it with games loaded. People pay me to do the mods and order the parts, the only thing I don’t provide is the micro sd card for the pi, that’s completely up to them.
I've done it to a mk cab and just reconfigure the controlls per game if they dont work out. It's not that hard. My mk cab is great. It's almost like this but I kept the original buttons. I added new speakers.
Actually I put my coin buttons in the volume and power slide holes just like this. I have the buttons on top of the plexy glass though as I did not know how to make a clean cut in the plexy.
@@mattymatt022000 You can't tell from the video but the buttons I use there are actually smaller. They fit fine without any modifications to the Plexiglas at all.
The Raspberry Pi is great for PlayStation emulators anything higher than that and u will need a better processor its basically a mini computer capable of alot of functions much like a cell phone , but better ...
I tried burning my own img, but wasn't successful kept getting a gang of error messages once the burn was completed. I ended up sending my sd to somebody and paid $50 for a burn with half the capacity of my sd card. Anyway i can mail you my raspberry pi 4 with the SD card to get my SD cards full capacity filled up? Willing to pay for your services thank you!
I'm curious, but how would the emulator be affected by the order the buttons are wired vs the other board? Each button gives the same signal when pressed. That's seems odd. The encoder would just be receiving that input.
It has to do with the software running it. You would think that it wouldn't matter but if you don't configure them the same then it triggers button presses on both sides
Highly recommend the Sinden light guns. I've got a pair of the base guns without recoil and they are incredible! Perfect plug and play solution for Pi and Windows based builds. The WII style IR guns just aren't good..... I wasted a lot of time and money that I wish I had put into the Sinden indiegogo from the. beginning.
I just modded mine and got mine setup. But I love that interface mine is just plain and black, can you send me a link so I can get mine to look like that. I'm asumming it's just download the files and put them onto a SD card.
I'm brand new to this so can I ask questions to all of you here. I ordered the Pac-Man arcade 1up 40th anniversary cabinet. It will be here in about two days. My family are really excited and I can't wait for it to get here but we also are eyeing the space invaders cabinet. Since we are new to this we are wondering is the space invaders cabinet a good cabinet to modify (Mod)? If so will space invaders still be on it if we "mod". We have been looking at a lot of videos on RU-vid to get used to the lingo. Also new rookies like my family will it be hard for us to do this modification? Any information from any of you guys will be appreciated, Thanks.
In my opinion, if I was buying one to mod, I wouldn't do either one for 2 main reasons. #1 is that both of these cabinets have a vertical screen which means that most arcade games will not look proper on them. Either they will be stretched or have 2 massive black bars on the top and bottom. Reason #2 is the button layout. Pac-Man has a centre joystick and holes will have to be drilled. Street Fighter or Marvel have the best button layout already making it way easier to mod.
TheTechGuru thanks, we're gonna look for Street fighter cabinet because it seem that the Marvel is hard to find at a decent price. Also what exactly is the parts I need to get more games?
As of right now, PlayStation 2 emulation is not great. It's not really that the pi isn't powerful enough, just emulation compatibility. Dreamcast emulation is a lot better so there is hope.
Im getting ready to make my own but im wondering how carnevil runs for you on a raspberry pi 3 i thought about getting a pc for my cabinet but if the rail shooter games run smoothly on raspberi pi 3 then it will make things a lot simpler. maybe even raspberry pi 4 will do it.
Thank you for the video. Curious, do you have original street fighter and Super Street Fighter II and Turbo on the street fighter aracde mod? I couldn't find a compatible rom set for ETA prime .078. Where did you find those roms? which versions are they? if you have installed? Thanks! Forgot to mention, looking for MAME versions, not super nintendo or anything else.
Buddy. How much would it cost to buy the whole thing from you? That is beyond cool. I don't have the time or the patience to do this myself. This would be worth every penny. I've been considering buying the tmnt 1up cabinet.
@@brandon_leeroy135 not if you keep them at 2 buttons. Check out my second video to see what I did with the TMNT cab, ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-3tdCimiakfw.html
Hello, would you be interested in reviewing some upgrades for your joysticks? I can send you joystick bat tops, octagon gates, and 4lb springs for your cabinets. Let me know, thanks!
they are not ipac chips or else I would have. They are just arcade control boards and with a raspberry pi, they have to be seperate as they do not simulate keyboard buttons.
Do you sell the micro sd chip with all the info already downloaded? Would like to purchase them if you or someone can guide me to a fair priced one that looks similar to this.
They mod the exact same except you use a slightly different control panel for the monitor. Usually I recommend the street fighter since it is cheaper but the marvel is a newer generation and has slightly better quality, not to mention, it looks better. So if you can, go with the marvel.
@@frickmagic Thanks so much for the response! much appreciated!!! I wanted to add a light up marquis and sanwa buttons so the limited edition marvel cab is what I been looking at!
Is there a link for the buttons on the mk cabinet I wanna keep those colors the same but obviously LED I'm just not sure which joystick set to buy on amazon
Hey bro are u still playing wit the arcade games I just got a cabnit bro I really want this one game called nba showtime is there any kind of way u can help me please ‼️‼️‼️‼️
Have you purchased the Raspberry Pi 4 yet, like you were talking about in your video? I would like to know if the 4 runs Nintendo 64 games better, as well as 3D Arcade games like Tekken and Soul Caliber.
Hey great video. So when you launch a ps one game it recognises the ps controller as default (player one) and not the built in joysticks. But joystick is default for everything else. Is this correct? If so how would I go about configuring this? Thanks
AwesomeMomof2 yes I haven’t tried it but I believe odroid would work fine. Stock buttons can work but it requires more wiring and is a lot more advanced. It is much easier to buy the $40 kits in all honesty.
Following. @TheTechGuru I already have a pi with 10k games from 8bitgames but installing and everything into the A1U is still beyond my skills. I dont even understand what to dl exactly from ArcadePunks to make a new list of games of a new sd card.
Awesome video! We have no tech experience and are figuring out way through this with our 9 year old. He is obsessed with this project. Lol. We have configured the cabinet, changed the buttons and added raspberry pi. Now we need help! How can we get the games and screen style that you have? He loved your video. He is dying to play... as he says... old school games. Great job on the video and consoles. Any help would be much appreciated!
It's an awesome project to do. You will need a 128gb Micro SD Card. I recommend SanDisk since some don't actually have the full 128 and you will need all of it. Download the Micro SD image from this link (www.dropbox.com/s/736gaups621qkd3/Arcade1upPi.rar?dl=0) it is a huge file and may take a while. Use the provided software to copy the data to the SD card. Then all you will have to do is put the micro sd card in the raspberry pi and setup the buttons. Hope this helps.
TheTechGuru thank you for the file. It was downloading for about 6 hours today. My son checked it every 30 minutes to give us an update. It got to the end and then it says failed -Forbidden. When I went into help it says something about permission from the server. Do you have an idea how to get around this error? Thanks in advance!
Hi can I purchase just the pi and other components from u preloaded with games. I’m not very tech savvy. I already own a few of the arcade 1 up cabinets
Question..Doing alot of research..This is my first time modding an arcade. I'm trying to find a right raspberry pie for my Mortal Kombat arcade1up. My goal is to have only arcades games and maybe some shooting arcade games (not playstation games, snes, n64, etc.). What would be the best or recommend choice for a raspberry pie? not too much of a tech savy though.
@@frickmagic thank you for your response! Sorry another question. I'm pretty new to raspberry pi. Do I have to set it up to run roms before installing it to the arcade1up?
Yes and no. The original games will now be part of the mod so you can still play them but it won't have the original arcade1up menu and game selection screen.
Great video 2 questions please. What was the name of the device that was on the back of the monitor? Also is there a way of adding a track ball for games such as Millipede?
Question 1) If you have an arcade 1up you need to look for monitor controller board by just searching the number on the back of you monitor. 2) you will just need to make a hole for it and then you can yes
1) if you own a arcade one up you can find a monitor control board by searching the number on the back of the monitor. 2) you can add any buttons you want just drill the hole and configure it with retropie
I mod cabinets based on the games I'll be emulating. SF2 and MK II have the most buttons, but this can get cumbersome if you're playing old Z80 games that use a 4 way joystick and a jump/fire button. Also, a Raspberry pi works great for old games, but will choke on 3D fighters. A Pacman cab would be perfect for old games running a pi, and SF2 or MKII running a mini pc would be perfect for fighters with 6 button configs and 8 way joysticks. You can also buy a very nice monitor with hdmi allowing you to skip the whole converter board. Just my opinion.
What an idiotic summation of an arcade machine. It's the base you're paying for, so you don't have to put the time and effort into cutting your own. And that's if you even have the tools to do so. Might as well sum up an expensive table and chair set as "some wood".
@@WuTangBoomerang Couple of things. First, I didn't summerize the arcade machine, I pointed out that the "machine" is simply a raspberry pi with a custom controller. All of which was purchased and added to the Arcade1up. My point is still valid, you are purchasing the Arcade1up for the enclosure. Second, comparing an arcade cabinet to an expensive table and chairs set is idiotic. Do some research and see if you can spot the difference in craftsmanship. If not, you are the type of idiot that would pay $300 for an empty arcade cabinet at Walmart right next to your "expensive" table and chairs.
It does seem like a lot when you get down to it, but there are shit loads of people who got these things as Christmas gifts last year and will get them again this year (they've been pushing the TMNT one hard lately). So you have this big ass cabinet sitting there that you hardly ever use cause it's got 3 games on it right? That's where a mod like this shines. It turns a lump of useless wood and plastic into something you might actually use. Personally I wouldn't buy one of these things just for the purpose of modding it. The cost of the 1up+the extra hardware to turn it into what he has here is a lot. Not even including the time and labor modding it. There are better, cheaper ways to have an arcade experience at home. IMHO.
Saw this from a facebook post. You got simpsons arcade to actually run? What are your secrets its driven me crazy in the past haha its always just marge
TheKrugler there are 2 versions of the game. The 4 player and the 2 player. In the original 4 player arcade game, your character depended on where you put your quarter in so that’s probably your issue. If you get the 2 player version of the game then it allows you to select your character.
When you turn on the arcade, does the pi auto boot to the main screen to pick games? How do we get that to work like that? Is it part of the retropi image?
Well that’s not going to work I can only imagine shippin cost. I am going to buy the limited edition Marvel with lit marquee. It has same button layout as street fighter. From the reviews it’s newer hardware. I work at Best Buy. It’s major electronics store. Just purchased raspberry pi 4. Gonna have some co workers do some research show them your videos hopefully we can make it work.
@@MrLonniedy unless you live in atlantic canada there is no way I can make one and ship it. Far too expensive. There are modders of these things all around the states so you should be able to find somebody
@@frickmagic I live in Louisiana I've checked wallmart bestbuy target gamestop I been looking for 4 months and no one makes ms pacman only pacman and pacman+
The software is built into the build I downloaded under EZ Hax Toolkit. You just need the aimtrak gun and the sensor bar. I drilled a hole in the top to hide the cord and stuck it there with double sided mounting tape.
Not planning on customizing mine but I was just curious what was possible with these one up arcade I’m just gonna leave mine pretty much standard. Because I’m not very tech no savvy on stuff like this. But it is Very cool to see what is possible with these one up machines.
after a year now how is it looking? Have you ever felt the need to want to change anything? I'm getting my first one soon and was wondering if I should change things like buttons and sticks (although i dont intend to emulate games or anything)
@@giantdekushield833 well money been a little tight for me right now so I can’t afford the One of the arcade turtles cabinet yet but I’m hoping I can pick up one in early 2021.
No, this is using a very low powered all in one board to emulate these games. It's not nearly powerful enough to emulate the 360. I haven't checked in awhile, but I don't even think fairly powerful modern gaming PCs can emulate the 360 very well.
