I was in the audience that night. Was off to the left side of the stage. McNichols Arena was torn down several years, but just a few miles away is Red Rocks, where U2 recorded Under A Blood Red Sky, another amazing show.
One of the coolest U2 songs, by way of one U2's most impressive performances - all tied up with a nice bow on it through your appreciative reaction. Thank you, sir.
probably my 3rd favorite u2 song after i fall down and running to stand still.....this is like the only u2 song with an aspect of tension in it and when it releases into the shreddy guitar parts, it feels good.
For some reason I slept on this song when I originally heard The Joshua Tree but one day I just really listened to it, I mean really hear the lyrics and I loved it ever since. But I had never heard the live version before and honestly it’s amazing!!
One more song. Probably the softest and saddest. Do some research and you'll see how some people got really treated horribly in Argentina in the last century. Mother's of the Disappeared is an actual movement trying to remember the lost children kidnapped by an oppressive regime.
A song about the dangers of religion. Very intense. Robert John Bardo, who shot and killed the actress, Rebecca Schaeffer, claimed the song inspired him to do it. U2 stopped performing it live for years because of that.
For the last track, Mothers Of The Disappeared, use this performance from the Joshua Tree Tour 1987. It's actually an outtake from the Rattle And Hum movie. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-VE6GfzQJKvc.html
It's a very good song. Bono's guitar play is suspect here though lol. He spends half the time adjusting knobs on his amp lol. But he's never claimed to be a great guitarist.
Now you need to watch the whole Rattle and Hum movie, and please, please, please: the Zoo TV performance at Sidney. Those two represent U2´s pinnacle of live performances, when Bono still got a voice.
They are not singing that Gloria song from the October album, but the song written by Van Morrison. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-VlWiQ69DGE0.html
