The "electronic" sound you heard, was actually vocals, but just run through some manipulation to make it sound electronic. For certain songs they may do things like that if they feel it will elevate the song, if the type of song or mood of a song will benefit from something like that. And I agree that it fit this song well 🙂
I'm not too convinced at how much was actually added to the vocals. We've heard Layne do synthesizer sounds before way back many years ago with "A Crimpella" (spelling?) One really neat reaction to this was by Anthony Ray, where he tried warping his sounds and you could see it would be possible with just a bit of manipulation. This is one of those songs where I would really love to see Layne break-down the audio.
You mentioned zombies. The fandom joke was, after Warrior and Dream On came, that we had lost Earl and JNone to the zombies,bur picked up Cesar and Omar along the road. Now we gained Anthony as well. Dream On was filmed in an abandoned school near Eli. This is an abandoned store in the mall next to PattyCake Production, the studio that Layne and Tony owns. Story is that Anthony in this was a last minute replacement, as the inrended guest, whom I presume was to be Omar again, got ill just before recording. VoicePlay had already done some videos with Anthony by then. After the Disneys I would suggest If I Were A Rich Man and Wicked.
You aren’t the first to say Anthony could lead a boy band. And speaking of, you should check out Boy Bands in Five Minutes (even if you don’t like boy bands, I guarantee you’ll like this). Great reaction!!
In the Hall of the Mountain King is a fun one of theirs. No words, just voices and great costumes. They get very.....playful in it. Anthony is wonderful in Golden Hour and Creep as mentioned. Geoff's wife has a cameo in Golden Hour as well. She gets busy creating the perfect man, lol.
good to see someone else appreciating Eli - he's perhaps the most flexible singer I've seen in terms of the range of styles and voices he can do. he's rarely flashy about it, but he's a beast.

You nailed it. They filmed in an empty department store in the mall where Pattycake Productions is. I think you'd enjoy Just Sing. It was a pandemic fundraiser for musicians and EVERYONE is in it, including Anthony with the comment that they were trying to get him to sing with them but hadn't yet succeeded. Fast forward, and now they have - several times.

I love The Sword and The Stone! Have you seen The Hunchback of Notre Dame by Disney? If not, look it up before you watch "Hellfire." You can probably find the clip on RU-vid. Another great versions is done by another extremely talented A Cappella artist, Peter Hollens! You should check him out too! For a bit of 2020 nostalgia, I recommend looking up Peter's "Epic Handwashing Parody." He also works with Home Free and their Bass, Tim Foust on several songs! But seriously, Peter's parodies and medleys are terrific! And some just plain hilarious.
They placed the rubble to cover up some graffiti they didn't want in their videos but other than that tried not to be too troublesome or loud in the area... because they maybe perhaps were not supposed to be there... maybe

As the other Voice Players have told you in the comments, this was filmed in an abandoned department store in the Oviedo mall just outside Orlando where their PattyCake Productions studio is located (same mall you saw in "Lion Sleeps Tonight" and many of their minis are filmed in this mall). I agree with the other comments about Anthony Ray's reactions to Voice Play as he really explains the beatboxing and special post production effects in this one so well. I think you will really like Voice Play's covers of "We Don't Talk About Bruno" and "Hellfire" the most out of all their Disney. Voice Play's Rock covers are fantastic as well.
Yes ir's pronounced as Garjoola. :) Copyright issues are usually due to an artist's recording company, but as VP and Geoff are totally independent of anything like that you don't have to worry about it. They do it all themselves apart from the final mix, when some effects may be added, as here, but no recording company is involved. Any time they add an instrument it is shown on screen. Nothing hidden. As you say occasionally a prop might be used, as the shackles in Hoist the Colours, or Layne's violin, but that's about it. I don't think zombies are involved here. The song is about gossip and reacting to it. And yes Anthony is amazing. It was an abandoned shopping mall that they just walked into and hoped for the best. They went around covering up some of the graffiti with masking tape to keep it family friendly. :)
I had actually never heard this song before, but I'm not much into sports. However, not long after VP's version came out, I was with my sports-loving nephew, and he started humming this song! I was thrilled to show him this, and he thought it was cool. Sharing the Voiceplay love! And Anthony is amazing. "Golden Hour" is another wonderful one he's in, and "The Wellerman" and of course, "Creep."

FYI there is a reactor anthony ray who use to beatbox. he is the only reactor that i have come across that can break down the beatboxing. he's done this song previously. if you are interested in learning more about beatboxing i would start there.
You said Anthony's last name perfectly the first time. His and Eli's parents are long time friends so Eli's known him since he was a baby. Ages: Eli 44, Geoff 43, Layne 43, Cesar 33 and Anthony 24. This is an abandoned department store in the Oviedo Mall where Pattycake Productions is located. Pattycake is owned by Layne and former member Tony Wakim. And where they film most of their videos. Pattycake also does original videos where they bring Disney characters to life with extremely talented actors and actresses. My favorites.... Villains Haunted Mansion. Bump In The Night. Will of Oz. Villains Lair series. Villains Lair is where they bring together a bunch of Disney villains to plot revenge on those that wronged them. The main villains are the Evil Queen, Jafar, Cruella, Frollo, Gaston, Cinderella's stepmom and sisters, Rapunzel's mom, Captain Hook, Maliciefent. Various others come and go. They just released season 2 episode 5 Life's Not Fair. And are working on episode 6.
@@raycardy4843 They walked almost next to Pattycake Productions to get inside. The department store is attached to the same mall as Pattycake which is the Oviedo Mall. I saw the behind the scenes video of them going from Pattycake to the department store. A lot of malls are the way you describe except for the big department stores are two stories (Sears, JCPenney, Macy's, etc). All the rest are 1 story. From Pattycake door to the back door of the store was only about 40-50 feet.

@@raycardy4843 I'm guessing it is 😉. And no problem. A mall is considered one story if the "little" stores are all on one level. Two story if on 2 levels, etc. Big department stores are not counted in the equation because most are at least 2 stories.

Love the sound of the bat dragging on the floor. My bats were from the wooden bat days. Congrats on making it through the trilogy. I enjoy it. Eli's version of Creep (RadioHead) is superb. Nothing Else Matters (Metallica), In the Air Tonight (Phil Collins), In My Room (Beach Boys), Tennessee Whiskey (Chris Stapleton) have all been done by VoicePlay and are great. I hadn't realized that Brian Wilson was bipolar and had agoraphobia which is why he wrote In My Room where he felt safe. Geoff's Wicked Games (Chris Isaak) dropped. J None did a solo last month - Am I Here which he wrote.

I am really enjoying your reactions to VP and I agree you should watch their cover of Golden Hour, also with Anthony. It was a real surprise to me to see that Geoff arranged this piece. It really seems like something Layne would have come up with - but they've been working together for so long, I don't doubt that they've borrowed from each other juuust a little bit.
