I can never dislike a movie where Superman sits in a bar flicking peanuts into the bottles of liquor and shattering them.

The fight between Evil Superman & Clark Kent was Fantastic !!!

If the villain's sister getting assimilated by a super computer isn't nightmare fuel, then I don't know what is.

I LOVED Superman III as a kid. One of my favorite parts was the crosswalk figures fighting.

You're right about the double-Superman fight. One of the best ideas. And that computer-witch was creepy to behold as a kid. And cleavage girl on roof scene certainly akin to Sigourney's in Ghostbusters.

I will always love this one as a guilty pleasure. I think that opening scene is a riot!

So, I'm watching this two years after it was made and I'm looking at what a train wreck the DCU has become and laughing about it because Snyder really did fuck it up... Also, it's interesting how Batman took the same route years later when Tim Burton left and Joel Schumacher took over. "Safe and marketable" was the phrase I heard.

I liked superman 3 . I remember being constantly impressed with different aspects . The refinery scenes were really good. In 1983 there was a real scare about computers , robotics causing high unemployment and maybe that aspect hasn't translated over time. Superman the movie (one of my favourite films ) takes an affectionate nostalgic look at America, superman 3 on the other hand takes a wry look at corporate and rural America of the early 80s and I can see why that didn't work with critics and audiences .

Most of this was filmed in Calgary Alberta, I was outside of the bar in this scene (The St Lois Hotel) the train going by when he is leaving the bar to go to the junkyard and fight Clark is an LRT or Light Rail Transit...ahh good memories.

I was a kid when Superman 3 came out. I was excited as I was a fan of both Superman movies and Richard Priar. Even as a kid, a kid who still loved Saturday Morning cartoons, I hated the movie. I watched Superman 4 when it came out on cable and decided to quit following Superman movies.

You know what is also really weird. I know they picked Brandon Routh for that other Superman movie cause he looked kinda like Christopher Reeve. But if you look at 5:55 with the missile command and closer in on the superman face, it looks more like Routh than Reeve.

I loved this film as a kid. I loved all 4.

Superman IV is a TURD, plain and simple, I give it 1 out of 10. I LOVE Superman III as much as the first two, basically because it was the first Superman movie I ever saw, and it cemented my nascent interest in computers that started in Tron (I was born in 1972). I didn't know who Richard Pryor was at the time, but I liked his character's new-found talent for programming in the movie, I liked the different villains and love interest for a change (who wants the two double L's all the time?), Evil Superman was a hoot, and of course, I loved everything to do with the Ultimate Computer. I would rate Superman III 7 out of 10, the first two 9 out of 10 (both cuts of Superman II, that is).

This movie really isn't that bad. It's basically a silver age comic come to life. The slapstick hasn't aged well, isn't very funny, but they also don't make movies like that anymore so it's also got a "dead media" sort of thing going for it. It's so weird, I can't help but like it now. And Christopher Reeve is absolutely flawless in the film.

This movie was GREAT I will not stand for any bashing of this film. Now Superman IV... 😔 Also I think the first Superman is boring (yeah I said it) Superman 2 is the best Superman film👌👍

Superman III was the best and we all knew what it was.

I liked Superman III. It actually holds up better than Superman II by most standards today...save for the ending.

I love this movie, and I love it for all of the things that people point to as "bad". I love the slapstick in it, I love the dark turn it takes with evil Superman (is there a scene as unsettling in the first two movies as the scene of him at the bar flicking peanuts?), I love Richard Pryor's scenes, I love the tenderness of the scenes in Smallville with Lana Lang. Yes, it is not like the first two movies, but why does it have to be? I don't understand why fans of series insist that each sequel be a carbon copy of the previous films. Isn't that...tedious? Now, if you think Superman III in and of itself is a shitty movie, well fine. But if the criticism is merely "It's different from the first two movies", that's not a criticism; that's a neutral observation. I love the original, and I love this bizarre sequel. There's room in the world for both.

The excellent, and rather disturbing, Pryor bio "Furious Cool" devoted 1 page to Pryor's entire 80s films. It listed the films and then said (and I paraphrase), "These are Pryor's films from the 1980s. You can search them out if you so choose, though I wouldn't recommend it." That seemed highly appropriate to me.

The movie as a whole is awful. But dammit that Junkyard scene is pretty damn great. Evil Superman is pretty great tbh. The only thing I wish was it was truly Supes vs Bizarro. Both in costume. But as it is... phenomenal scene.

This is one of my guilty pleasures.

I grew up loving Superman I, II & III

I haven't seen the first 2 in decades, but this one I'll revisit, even just in parts, for the humour.

I love the Movie, because it takes itself not serious, the first two movies were serious enough, so in Superman III we got to see a lighter side.

I think by the early 1980s, the Superman franchise had run out of steam, just as the James Bond series did. Both seemed tired. I did like Superman 3, mainly because it took a more comedic tone than Richard Donner's original.

You forgot to mention the ridiculous fact that Reeve was paid 1 million for this movie but Richard Pryor was paid 4 million!!! 4 mill just to show up and act stupid. Nice.

According to your own statement Superman was devoid of any experience & also all alone unlike Avengers 2012 movie in which everybody are supposed to be seasoned combat veterans & they still let a major city to be decimated. Answer these following questions about MCU movies & prove that your perception is valid 1) How does a soldier from an obscure nation with no political influence or monetary resources unlike Lex Luthor is able to gain access to classified data or or travel to a remote base 2) Ironman randomly discovers Spiderman's real identity & then completely forgets about Barnes who murdered his parents conveniently in front of a "Candid camera" so that the footage can be played later or how Stark loses to a guy with a shield after engaging in combat with the Hulk in another film 3)That guy with the shield is somehow able to infiltrate a sophisticated prison platform in the middle of the sea & free his team whom joined him for no tangible reason at all & then danced around each other in an airport with bland quipps while enquiring each other's address 4)And as for Engame it is pure fantasy saturated with irrational concepts with a bloated runtime & therefore a film which came three & half decades back with a limited budget & technology is eons ahead as "the high school reunion scene" is adequate enough to substantiate it. Infact the last movie that genuinely deserved to cross the one billion mark was TDK back in 2008. Would you reply to the above mentioned queries & then I will dictate what you should "Eat" after puking whatever edibles you have been consuming!
