Awilo was a massive success in Nigeria. Those of us born in the 90s are quite a lucky generation. We enjoyed good music and some of them shaped our lives. Awilo will forever be one of Africa's bih success story. He seized our airwaves for more than 5 years.
Despite the fact that many of us here in Nigeria 🇳🇬 didn't understand the language...but his songs were really blast... it was the biggest banger during my childhood.
Got introduced to Awilo while studying in Cuba back in the early 2k's. FOut of nowhere I found myself singing "oui c'est moi, oui c'est moi, Awilo Longomba!" today at work, Sep 19, 2024.
I was in JS3 1994 in Nigeria when this song was like national anthem! Everywhere, it was so so huge, it was bigger than all our artistes combined! Brings me memory chills as i listen to it now
So happy to enjoy this banger after a very long time . Back in 2000 My granny used to own a pub at her place and whenever we went visiting we'd dance to this great jam . I was only 10 yrs old 😂😂😂 . Rest well cucu
Ayra Starr bringing back memories.🥰 Awilo is Legendary!!!🙌🏿 As a 10 or 12yr old then, we had to stretch out our hands and bring it back slowly while twisting.😂 Kai! Memories!!😍💃🏿🔥🇳🇬🇨🇩
As a young boy between the age of 10-13, I could sing this song words for words and absolutely had no idea what I was saying the whole time. LOL Awilo's songs flooded Nigeria's dance halls like a tsunami. Good memories!

Too many smiles 😊 and tears 😭 from my eyes at same time cos Africa has lost so many great and important people 💔 what we have today re fake people who wants to westernize themselves and forget that we re africans with rich cultures and traditions 😢💔💔 Rest on my Legends, role models. Great leaders and great african entertainers, Mandela , Brenda, Willie , Solomon kalushi, bob marley, Thomas Sankara, gadaffi, Kwame Nkruma, Fela anikulapo kuti, Lucky filipe dube, marcus Garvey etc Africa miss you all 💔💔❤️
We had different variations of this song in Nigeria. Such good old days. I had thought the guy was from Cameroun but in the comments section I'm seeing Congo
2024 April and im still jamming to this masterpiece ❤.... Nostalgia is real! Awilo made our childhood so beautiful indeed! In Kenya 🇰🇪 that time, this banger spread like wildfire 🔥
This song hit like nothing else in Kenya. We were children then and even made our own mothertongue Kimeru lyrics from it. It was also made a quick march by the then Kenya Armed Forces Band.
