I definitely see the chemistry Lena & Melina talks about. Not necessarily in a romantic sense, but interesting the way she looks at him while she’s talking 🌟 I love it
@@angelaglenn4able Joshua Jackson better rethink that engagement or whatever cause from the looks of this interview, seem like she got a little thing for Daniel😜😍😄
Kayo Terrell just because she finds men outside her race attractive doesn’t mean she can’t or doesn’t appreciate black men as well. There’s no correlation there.
So I saw the movie this week and i didn’t expect it to be so emotional for me. Not so much the police scene (I mean yes it was bc it’s very real) but to me it was the smaller references to the black struggle. The scene where Slim references God being all he has, Angela feeling that she outgrew her mother, her desire to find a love that kisses her wounds but doesn’t try to heal them... All of those things just hit really deep for me which I wasn’t expecting. The visuals and the music played a major part as well. To me each scene captured so beautifully how resilient and beautiful black ppl are even in our struggle. The scene where they were at the juke joint meant so much to me bc there were so many stories in the club we weren’t even privy to. Everyone in there had a story and in those moments of dancing and gyrating they were trying to forget about them just like our Queen and Slim. I find the black mind to be one of the most creative and complex things on earth. This movie just gives a tiny glimpse of our beauty and complexity and it worth seeing.
Yes; I agree. There is a certain reality that comes across in this movie Aside from the undeniable chemistry between Jodie and Daniel there is the pitch perfect dialogue:THERE IS SOME EXCELLENT WRITING HERE! And yes; the urgency and the immediatecy of the situation these two find themselves in is what all Great plots are made of. The soundtrack is just the icing on the cake. ...so to speak , and adds another dimension to the film. All and all ; very topical-- very necessary ,wth a surprising portention to future resolution of these conflicts and tragedies.
You just described almost everything that touched me deeply about this movie. I just saw it a second time last night and I found I appreciated it even more. Thank you for sharing your thoughts.
Shaneia Marcelin So beautifully said ❤️. Sending you love and light. Black men and women have so much healing to do and they can do it together. They have to stop identifying with the narrative and focus on home...each other. I am saving your comment so I can share with others.
Seen it 3 times since it’s release and I plan on going back every chance I get . Every time you see it something new surfaces in your soul tht wasn’t there before ! Lena Melina Jodie and Daniel ! Just amazing ! One of a kind ! Art ! History ! Classic!
I loved it! I agree with most, I was hoping for a better ending. However, the movie proved beyond what was anticipated by producers and Director and it haven't made it to Amazon Prime or Netflix yet. While still at the theaters, I am going to see again. This time as a matinee hoping it's not too many people there. One lady decided to talk through the movie first time🙄🤨👀.
Oh my God this woman is beautiful I don't understand how black people cannot see the beauty and being black look at how beautiful this woman is oh my God
Sassy Bull thats not what shes implying she said people get upset that british people come over and get a role and have american accents as if we dont imitate their accent has nothing to do with it being horrible or not its the fact of why be mad at someone using our accent when we do it all the time
reborn babies 202 lmao right. Watching this movie & the scene where he’s in the room contemplating his life changing before his eyes he had that “Give me the Keys Rose” face 😅😹
The way daniel looks at jodie... I live🙌🏿🙌🏿🙌🏿 I agree with Jodie. That scene was done so beautifully. We as black women, always get hyper sexualized. This was far from it. It was definitely a story..
Its so frustrating how as black people we always have to criticize a role that's played by another black person from a different country. There are soooo many white Australian, British, South African actors in Hollywood, and you'll never hear them hating on each other. There are talented actors everywhere around the world, it does depend on how hard they work to get the role.
BeaSiegal it’s not as noticeable as a black film. It’s made the news, each interview, and on each RU-vid post. I wish blacks could just accept one another and let someone else express their art in their own way. The black man turning them in is literally illustrated what blacks are doing to them with this movie, pulling each other down.
Avg Vet regardless of how many films are produced if there’s controversy there’s controversy. It will get heard. As Lena says, a British accent is not going to stop you from getting pulled over by a cop if you’re Black. “Oh he’s British, go ahead sir” lol Black is Black. Blacks do this with everything so to see it here it’s quite annoying.
Anyone notice how the interviewer's body language changed when the actors talked about their experiences with cops? Btw Jodie is STUNNING.. When she speaks I'm absolutely glued to her.
i looooved the movie and the actors and i get it was bonnie and clyde themed but i do agree it gets exhausting seeing black actors struggle. i’m excited for “the photograph” coming out in february it seems to actually be centered around a black love story without trauma !
HeavenlyLove47 now I’m not familiar with love story movies that aren’t through trauma. But isn’t trauma a part of life? Something like true love is gonna have tough circumstances
@@joshandabradford8749 She gave me British vibes for some reason but first Edris and now Daniel... They both fooled me. They act so good at being American, I guess it fooled me to find out when they're not. 🤷🏽♂️ Lol
I'm lighter brown skinned but I am so thankful they got a dark skinned actress and actor for the main leads. Love it! Still rare even in 2019, sad. Love love this movie.
My Ugandan mom walked in on me with my legs in a boyfriend's lap...she called a CLAN meeting...I was thoroughly asswhooped then adviced then preached to by the family priest then my school teachers and principal were told to keep an eye on me, whole school knew it, my neighborhood... Oh menh...that's policing in Africa for you. I wonder how Daniel TRUELY handled his mom and the fact that she spoke to Jodie about it...hmmm...trust me they downplayed it on here lol
@@maddielu5286 I am perfect lol. If it wasn't for all that, I would have been a single mom, school dropout or something else. But am now a mom of 2 and I now understand why my mom did that. It wasn't coming from a bad place
@@maddielu5286 the update of that ex boyfriend, his a deadbeat, still lives in his parent's home and has never graduated from university. Still dead gorgeous though lol. Dodged a bullet
@@mildredpearlkagoda551 so glad it all worked out for the best in the end. I feel that our African parents and families can take things so far at times but there's usually a method to their madness 😅
Everyone has an accent to an outsider, I'm from London England and to me they don't have an accent. But I guess playing americans in the film, many people will be surprised
Why is there such a new wave to hiring black English actors to play black americans? They both were great in,the movie . But, this seems to,be purposeful...idk
lets put it this way; most American actors are not versatile, and most British actors are willing to go to school/work on their craft while most American actors are focused on social media and being a celebrity. The conversation occurred with Henry Cavill too, when he played Superman. some Americans were not happy. Most up and coming English actors have a bigger resume. It's sad, but that's the reality too.
@@keonashorter9714 The thing is, I'm African and I did not complain when African Americans play Africans in movies 🤷🏿♂️. Coming to America, black panther, sometime in April. Hotel Rwanda, sarafina, the list goes on. We didn't complain. All we wanted was a good black actor.
His posture in the movie was weird like he was "slow" or something...I get it he's a standup guy that is now on the run for something he justly had to do, his character could have still been more confident throughout and still humble...Maybe his character was ment to appear as goofy lol...
@@musicmaker1311 My Primary School teacher taught us about posture or we'll end up permanently bent down at an old age. I've kept this on my mind for 15 years
The way he looked at her and kept his eyes on her the whole time when she said poetry..if she wasn’t married this would definitely be a different story btwn them
Not trying to be a pervert but I rewatched the sex scene several times. It was beautiful and romantic. It’s a bit of a love story evolves. Both were beautiful people and did a great job
I’m in awe everytime at how these actors/actresses are able to switch up their whole accent & demeanor for these roles they have to play😩 job well done
Queen is sooooo beautiful.. need to finish my statement, this movie is almost too real once you get police eyes on you your either in cuffs and/or died... Stay aware and awake ! ✊🏾
Isn't it heartbreaking that we r commenting on sex with black women and men? Man wow smh so sad but it's TRUE black women are not "made love to" sensually and sensitively mostly we r picture in the angry sex more like vessels to be used rather than women
Black and British my people love it! These two are lifeee! The film was bomb. Black love and it’s finest. The love scene, 👌🏾👏🏾I watched it 4 times, not in a pornographic way but because us as black people, our love was shown with such purity. Loved it loved it!
