The Awkwardness of returning the Harley Davidson to the owner as the welds had broken and it was now dangerous to ride. This is the end for me riding the baby chopper around England and Scotland.

Diplomatic af, really impressed how you did ‘t complain, looked at the reality, negotiated a good end for the bloke who hired you the bike. Pretty good to watch. I think you handled that really well. Win win from a crap situation.

You've got to look at it for what it is. The problems started when the bike was dropped. Could be blamed on a shitty kick stand, but it was an accident non the less. It's unfortunate about the mudguard mount snapping, but at the end of the day the bike was built to ride to the pub on not to tour the country.

What a great trip Danny , Inspirational . Bought a new bike June 2021 then diagnosed with something serious , 1 more Surgery in July 2022 . Recovery will take a couple of months , after that a long bike trip somewhere here in OZ . I'm not young so it will be alone as mates that still have bikes don't ride far, it might be my last big trip. Many thanks for the RU-vid posts Danny , they have boosted my determination.

Danny you can tell the minute the adventure is over your body language changes and you can tell that you will be back to fighting the depression and that is truly sad. People don’t understand that money cannot fix the depth of depression that a person can go thru. I wish you the best and I truly hope and pray that someday you can be free of this fight you have daily. I can relate to your pain because I fought the big D for years. I finally got past it. But I am not certain how it happened. Maybe my prayers got answered. But a win is a win and I pray it happens for you.
@robertborchert932
@robertborchert932 Год назад
Papa! Depression is very different depending upon the individual. Been dealing with it for a while. Fortunately, it is not the clinical kind, I feel, in my case. In my job in the fire service, I dealt with the real deal, and I understand. In my case, it has been a long road, I feel I was giving up. I allowed others to take advantage, and my life was slowly falling apart. I was not sad, exactly, it was a kind of acquiescence, but at my peril. Life changes when a relationship falls apart, and you have children. I gave up a career and pension in the fire service with the mission of raising three little girls. They are all grown up now. It's a long story, and it has happy times, especially at present. I am dropping everything and starting over again, this stupid virus disaster delayed everything by three years. Another long story, I survived it. Before there was such silliness that we all know only too well. I am trained as a medic, so I know what I have experienced. Papa, prayer can NOT be underestimated, I have dealt many times with life, death, and disaster. No amount of money can solve this issue, I agree. In my twenties I had it all, money really was not a concern. I gave it all up and joined the fire service. Then I gave it all up again. Bugger. Yeah, it was worth it. I'm still here, man. Glad you are too.

Good job brotha. I wouldn't call it a broken frame, but still could have been deadly. That bike was built and set up well to take the punishment it took, and also the no hands riding after the punishment and it still drove straight. Hardtails brake a lot on rough roads. that was just a broken fender mount. thanks for the hard work. I'm 57 with one hip replaced, i sill ride but not on a hardtail, but i will always love them.

Love these vids but he should just stick to new shit. And those Relays- i got one on my 79 and after having issues i found putting it in a balloon and tying it off solved that issue. Glad your still at it at 57- my buddy (a tree guy) had both his done and he is Happy with the result.

Welding thick metal to thin sheet metal is possible, but very difficult to do safely. It should always be avoided where possible. The fender should be bolted through tabs welded to the frame, with rubber grommets. I would also add a doubler (an additional layer of sheet metal) to the fender to reinforce and spread the load over a wider area.

The bike did well for a hard tail chopper on those potholed roads. Obviously the weight of the bags strapped onto the mudguard and the constant pummelling of the hard tail caused the mount to fail but I thinks it is a great bike despite the issues. Great vlog MDB, and a brave face regarding all the issues with chopper. To be fair, like the bloke who lent/hired it to you said. It weren’t a new bike, it was a basic sportster chopper. I’m glad I didn’t have to go through the pain myself, but if you went on a 2022 road king, or god forbid a BMW GS, the trip would have been far less interesting, and you may have well of done it in a car, which I’m sure ain’t your style at all. Go hard or go home as they say in Aus! Much better, far more ‘fun’ and much more of an achievement on the chop! 🤟

Tools to bring with a custom Harley. Bailling wire, Zip ties, and J.B. Weld. Good job you made it, in the end that's all that matters. The amount of fun you have, depends on your ability to adapt and over come, and attitude. Looks like you did good.

Sportsters are great bikes, I own a sporty superlow and am part of a sportster group, and with all the different variations you can have and the customisations they are bikes full of character and soul representing what it means to be living on 2 wheels. They are fun and watching all of his vlogs on the UK trip just goes to show what can be achieved.👍
