This is a follow up to the AWS Cognito video I did which shows you how to use AWS Cognito with your local site to handle User Registration/Authentication. You can see that on the link below:

This follow up video shows how to extract the User Data from the JSON Web Token (JWT) returned from AWS Cognito after a user successfully registers or logs into your site.

Here is the timeline of the video:
Min:Sec Description
0:00 Intro on AWS Cognito
0:35 Demo of extracting user data from AWS JWT (JSON Web Token) response
1:35 Open Developer tools in Chrome
2:00 Quick Update - I said I didn't successfully sign out. Not true, I misspoke. I was logged in before I started the video, but I closed the browser tab instead of logging out. So its not that I didn't successfully log out, I closed the tab and AWS Cognito recognized that my session was still on. I just wanted to clarify this, so you know that the logout code in my previous video does indeed work ;)
2:10 Explanation of console log output after doing refresh on my logged in session
3:30 Showing updates to HTML pages with javascript tags
4:12 Show update to the aws cognito login url, to use 'token' in 'response_type' field
4:45 Explaining new main.js javascript file that extracts and decodes AWS response from the URL.
7:32 Showing Sources tab with breakpoint in javascript code to show what code is doing
10:18 Show that the email and sub logs statements match whats in your AWS Cognito User Pool

Thank you for this! I've viewed Part1 & Part2. It would be great, since you're using AWS, to go one step further. Specifically how to configure a static website (S3 bucket) on AWS using Cognito to authenticate web users. An example of IAM/bucket policy (${aws:username} variable), S3 configuration would be very helpful!!

I appreciate the feedback! I think I can do this in the near future. If it interests you I also have some videos on Keycloak which is similar to Cognito. I do have more videos to come for Keycloak and do see myself doing some more on Cognito!
