I have been trying to find out the exact reasons for opting for EBS in contrast to S3. Your explanation has made it crystal clear. Thanks a lot. I do appreciate your effort in helping learners like me.
wow !! this is so far the best explanation I have come across. Thanks a lot mate !! You know when you understand and get clarity on the topic which has been hazzy for a while.. you have a feel good factor :) thanks again .
Sure mate.I am planning to take my exams next month. So before that, I would have mostly gone through most of your videos :). Btw, I have 2 questions to ask you. 1. I successfully attached 1 EFS to multiple EC2 instances [ i assume that's one of the major differentiators from EBS, right? ]. Can you help me with the command where I can see what are the EC2 instances attached to the EFS volume? 2. Is there any other way I can reach you? An email address or phone number [ My email id is rangeshprasanna@gmail.com] and with regards to your live streaming session which has been scheduled for next Saturday, how can we get notified [ I am in USA ]?
Very good Rangesh.. All the best. 1. That's true EBS can be attached to only one EC2 but EFS can be attached to mounted to multiple EC2 instances. The important thing here to understand is EBS gets attached to EC2 at AWS level via an API. But, EFS gets mounted at the EC2 OS level, hence i do not think there can be an AWS command to give you all EC2 instances attached to an EFS Volume. The way to restrict would be via Security Groups and I shall cover that in upcoming EFS video. You can refer all EFS commands here - docs.aws.amazon.com/cli/latest/reference/efs/index.html#cli-aws-efs 2. You can take my email from ru-vid.comabout I shall set it up as an event on RU-vid and you should get a notification. Please try to spread word among your friends so that we could have more and more participants. Thanks a lot.
I am watching it in 2021 and the information given in the video is still relevant and by far is the best explanation I came across the RU-vid. thank you for explaining EBS and EFS in a simple and effective way
I am the horse man, hello, this explanation is very professional, the example of the excel file is very helpful and this is the only one video online I found that has this very important concept explained. Thanks.
I am a beginner, this is one of the best explanation that i have came across. Please share videos with real time scenarios, it would be much helpful. Thanks for posting.

Excellent illustration of EFS !!! which is pretty much a network filesystem that you can use as NFS file system on all the availability zones within the region. There is something you mentioned which need to be noted. and it is the size of the EFS file system which there is no need to set the size. I very much like the way you explained the AWS storage subject. Please keep up the good work which is benefiting all of us. I will look forward to see more youtube from you. Appreciated !!

I have been using EBS,S3, and EFS but did not know how actually storage works Great video, covered basic stuff like how data is stored and what happens when you do changes. you are really cool and fantastic! Thanks much for sharing this, Please do the videos on Terraform and Ansible if this is something you can do.

Nice explanation about difference between object and block storage. Now I just came to know what the exact difference in storage types in AWS. thanks buddy..
Awesome video, simple and clear. It appears that EFS provides all the capabilities of EBS and has additional benefits of replication across AZs, multiple EC2 instance connection etc. Can you please talk about use cases where we would still prefer EBS over EFS?

Thx for the vidoes. The difference between S3 and EBS was explained clearly, but the difference between EBS and EFS was not clear to me? (Only difference between EFS and EBS is that you can mount multiple EC2 instances across multiple area zones?)

🎯 Key Takeaways for quick navigation: 02:30 💾 Block level storage works at the block level for efficient read and write operations. Object level storage, like S3, requires rewriting the whole object even for small changes. 04:22 📥 S3 is great for continuous ingestion, static asset storage, and backup, but not suitable for hosting OS or database files due to object storage limitations. 05:54 💽 EBS is best for use with EC2 instances, offering high performance, persistence, and various performance levels based on need. 07:46 🌐 EFS is an elastic network file system that can be mounted on multiple EC2 instances, making it suitable for shared storage across instances within the same region. 08:54 ⚖️ S3 and EFS automatically scale with data, while EBS requires careful sizing. Understanding these options helps optimize storage choices in AWS. Made with HARPA AI
