Thanks for another great video. Maybe one day I'll get quick too. It takes me probably 10 times longer to make a spoon 😂. Your videos are great and I always like it when you post. Keep up the great work!

So wonderful to hear that, thank you! And I have no doubt you will get faster, efficiency is the best focus, and it only comes with time and repetition 🙂

Cool Andy!! It's great what you do. What kind of carving ax do you make??

Hi there! Thank you so much for watching! So I use a collection of carving axes, but at the moment I tend to use the larger 860g carving axe from Fadir Tools 🙂

@@andyspoons It turns out that Ukraine is doing this. Have you seen or tried Stefan Ronquist’s carving axe?

Fadir is a Ukrainian forge, that's right!

I am yet to try one, but it is on the list 🙂

Just curious - Is there any benefit to creating the front of the spoon on the bark side of the blank? Often I find myself splitting a log open and creating radial blanks, so the bark would be on one of the sides of my short sides of my blank. I've seen a few people recently doing it the way you are, and it's making me rethink my life choices haha.

It's a totally aesthetic preference! I will post a more detailed video about this soon, but basically if you have access to larger diameter stock, you will get more out of the log carving tangentially. Radial is great if you want to get those concentric circles in the bowl 👌
