High Schoolers in third world countries: He just like us fr fr (minus the ability to go to a KFC)

In Australia, there's a children's charity called The Smith Family that (at least according to their aggressive marketing) centres around supporting disadvantaged kids with their education. This makes me wonder how well actually they do.

He was given $5 while I was given 5 cents while I was in middle school. Life was rough but now I'm adult it's even worse (at least I can afford now)

I’m a poor kid to honestly I eat the school ouch catch the bus and we are that poor that we don’t have a car and barely have money but I’m grateful for everything I have rn and I’m still in highschool

I wish all these kids are taught that dog food, even tho unsavory when dry, is super good if you cook it in soup... You could have a decent protein meal there for a week if you save just enough to get those $25 big bags of 10kg or more dog pellets (with real meat) and eat those for at least a month.

Kinda similar, my family during my childhood-HS years was very poor. The only difference was that the city I'm in had a lunch program for people that were poor so I was at least able to eat during HS but home meals were mostly rice and soy sauce with maybe an egg sometimes. A lot has changed now, still finishing Coll-ege while having a full-time, I can eat what I want(within reason LOL not a $50 steak). I do have a problem with ordering too much which, I guess, is a side-effect of my childhood. They just like me frfr 😭

Accountants in shambles.

Oh back in highschool i lived off a dollar. Like I think a hundred pesos php is a dollar in the exchange rate. That was enough to buy a sandwich and a drink in private school (which my family could barely afford to put me in)

I had to play on 2 dollars a week (price converted). No snacks or anything. I had to plan out how to spend 45 cents a day. It was either half a cup of rice and veggies or 2 bottles of cola just so my brain has food for the day. PE was just the worst since it drained the energy out of me.

I wasn't poor as a kid. But I didn't get ANY money from my parents. Luckily I didn't really want anything either. I got a smartphone 2 years after everyone else in my class. And my father legit stole my nokia n82 from me to replace it, cause I didn't care about phones either. My best friends(twins) WERE poor af tho. Still remember them eating tomato sauce without anything else. Like, legit splurging it onto a plate and eating it with their fingers lmao It was fun hanging out with them, but I realized how BAD things can get money-wise. We would sometimes get instant noodles for 5ru a pack after getting cash from glass bottle collecting. It was great.
