@@2fmrc I’m all for keep worm gears…at least for the crawlers. I don’t even think about them. I’m just glad that currently available parts work with them. Honestly, links don’t bother me for RTR either. The motor however. That’s an easy and cheap fix I think they should’ve fixed for a crawler like this.
I always wanted the AX-10 but never pulled the trigger. This one is getting added to my collection. 👍 1st Mod will be some beadlock wheels & tires with inserts...
Preordered one today. As long as it fits will be throwing a CCxRC motor in it first think. Then just some brass to keep the rubber side down. Then it’s down the rabbit hole really. Serves, wheels, tires, maybe over drive gears to the front.
I really liked my 4ws scx24 and the slt3 is probably my favorite rtr remote. They even brought it in at a price range close to the scx24. Great new release from axial
Great review Matt, I’m in!! As a 45yo kid myself I feel you on the AX-1, it came out when I was out of RC. My dive back in was in 2012 with a TA02 touring car and I’ve been neck deep since. The new truck seems like natural progression for someone that has all the scale 1/24s but doesn’t care to spend 1/10 money on 1.0 custom comp rigs or ‘flex Friday’.
As an original AX-10 owner who still has and drives the rig, this video was great! I love my old school Scorpion and I was delighted when I found out Axial would be remaking it. I don't currently own any 1/24th scale cars but I just ordered this new AX24 today. I cant wait! Haha
People are gonna eat this up, however sorta reminds me of the Losi 24th scale rock crawlers from like 10 years ago. Makes me think that Losi was way ahead of the game with their micros back then but the market wasn't ready. That being said it's a very good time for us guys who love modifying and building the micro vehicles, my 24th scale collection is gonna get one car bigger haha
Right? I loved my Losi Micro Trail Trekker. But I broke a transmission gear in it and can't find a replacement anywhere. I got a C10 Scx24 to fill the void. But this AX24 is more what I would prefer.
I like it. Might even add one to my collection but, I REALLY wish Axial would revamp the Wraith and bring it back. A new 10th scale Wraith would be sweet.
That is so cool! Soon after I saw the 4WS feature and the Spektrum transmitter and esc/receiver combo it has, I called my local hobby store and asked them to reserve a green one for me. Cool video by the way! 😸
Upgrades would be quite a bit, especially since its basically double front axles now. Think the AS-1 servo is exactly same but may have a bit of voltage boost to it from the new esc. Will still probably burn out just as fast as they always did. So upgrade double servos, double steering linkages to eliminate slop, double brass knuckles ( plastic is a fail point at the knuckle pivot) definite motor upgrade (prolly PN90), brass hex wideners ( thing looks narrow next to your shark) down low brass ( diffs covers, possible wheel weights in front), wheels and tires. Would get nickel and dimed to death on it and cost more than a 1:10 scale but has potential with mods.
I installed 3mm OD 1mm ID silicone orings on the shock shafts inside the body to help with the bounciness, a drop or two of shock oil will give them some lubrication... not oil filled, but alot better than stock. I also installed them on every pivot ball on my rigs to take out the extra slop out. I can't share the link, I purchased them on Amazon. I just thought I would share.
You're such a KNIT LMBO 😂🤣 The 4ws and Rock Crawler chassis is a scaled down par to it's Great Grandpa 🤠😆🏁 Looks like Furitek is gonna sell some more Motor ESC combo's... Makes sense for Axial to not update the worm drive and power plant ... Nice show and tell Matthew 💯 ✌🤠👍 HFLPRCing =Having Fun Laughing Playing and RCing 👍😎👍 AOAH =Association of Addicted Hobbiest 🙏 SSPH =Stay Safe and Play Healthy My Friend
Cant wait for this beast of a unit. Did not like the size of the trx4ms or the capra. 24/th is where its at for me. Best indoor size for the carpet mountain Ive built. This thing is going to be so awesomis!
Pretty cool, I kinda want one. There are a lot of guys saying on social media they wish a all new 1/10 trail/scale truck from Axial but I don't think the SCX10.3 is that old. When was the last all new 1/10 truck from Element or Traxxas?
I personally feel a less toy grade "looking" more Capra or ryft style for their first drop of the year really would have set it off and I mean come on oil shock is becoming a necessity I believe
This thing reminds me of the Basher Rocksta but in that obvious Axial style. I just wish it were a mini MOA. I’ve been focusing on getting my Dashex Z2 MOA axles running properly on a Furitek Scythe II chassis. Basically built an RC4WD Bully II but in 24 scale. I’m sure there’s something on someone’s drawing board that will be similar to what’s going on in the niche 24 scale groups right now. Real rock crawling is taking place at this scale and it’s impressive to say the least. It’s not just trail trucking, it’s cliff hanging with near impossible lines. But these little 24 are making it happen. It's come so far in the last few years. I hope t see some companies embrace what's taking place and starting building out more metal chassis and components for them from the factory. I say make them the rigs they can be, they'll sell like hotcakes.
I wish I could get excited about 1/24 scale. I own 2 scx24's. The problem is , at 51 years old, my fingers can't manipulate those tiny fasteners that well and the frustration working on these KILLS the fun. I am happy for those that can enjoy these, but 1/15 is minimum for me😕
I love the smaller scale stuff, but I was hoping this was going to be the 18th scale Capra w/ 4WS. So, that'll probably be the route I go for myself. My kids, on the other hand, will probably get this. :P
@@scalebuildersguild 4:01 The skid is smooth on the bottom with longitudinal ridges. All other SCX24 skids have a bump-out for the transmission output gear and no ridges. I'm not sure about how it affects performance, but it is different.
Hi Matt thanks for sharing this AMAZING truck with us Sir. I really like it. The market is HUGE fox the 24th scale. Hope you are having a great week and your weekend is even better 🇬🇧🇨🇦🕊️✌🏼🤩🤟🏼
I absolutely agree. Modifying and competing with 1/24 scale rigs is rapidly growing in popularity. Hell, I myself have modded my enduro24 trailrunner. Definitely gonna have to add this to my collection.
24th scale isn’t for me and I understand that but variety is the spice of life. Hope this release works out for Axial. Matt you bringing your budget build SCX24 to PLBTF? It fits the survival theme lol
Good to see a 4WS RTR. I think the first upgrade would have to be a more powerful motor possibly brushless for all the brass upgrades and then more supportive tires. Look forward to see your upgrades. Thank you again for the very informative video.
I don't think that I will be getting one. I just can't seem to get into the 24th scale scene. I think I would of been more impressed with an updated version of the 10th Scale model. Especially since the original came out before I was into RC crawling.
Seeing as I had a spare set of 1inch Injora wheels I felt it was my duty to preorder 1 of these along with a set of RC4WD Scrambler tires , I hate this hobby *LOL* , and I'll be keeping an eye out for alloy chassis and steering links, that was a big upgrade on my SCX24
I will get one at sometime. As far as first mods, probably it would be to the shocks. Throwing shade for bushings is funny but coming with even more of a bouncy shocks then the other 24's kinda lame.
very nice. i thought maybe they would release an 18th ish scale to compete with traxxas but they are doing such a good job on the 24's that it makes sense to stay. on harley designs page i called an 18th scale wraith or wraith spawn but this is close. maybe we'll get a wraith at the end of the year. y'all have a badass day \m/
Apparently I enjoy the scale side more than I realized. There really isn’t much to draw me in here - 4WS is really the only intriguing item to note, if I’m completely honest. I’m sure I’d have a blast driving one, no doubt, but for some reason the last couple of Axial releases have appeared to be cousins of a Walmart buy with higher price tags. To be fair, I have not seen this one or the UTB18 in person. It’s just that my gut reaction is I would rather buy another SCX24 Gladiator or finally try a TRX-4M if I decide to part with this much of my money. With that said, I’m sure these are a ton of fun and will sell like crazy. Thank you for another awesome review!
