Yo Dan, I used to Frankenstein my models and RC's too.. 30yrs ago! Using 'Hornets' and "Grasshoppers rc's and military models etc. It eventually progressed to rockets and building huge space ship as adding rocket motors and flying across the backyard on fishing line. Try using crushed sparkler powder filled into steel tubes and tennis balls for a 6ft flame. But I think you def have to look at gas jet lighters for exhaust pipes. At night it looks sik. All this led to making sets for theater/movie set design /sculptures /backdrops etc... A good transition u may wanna check out. 😂🤘🇦🇺
