In this video I revisit the Axial UTB18 Capra and throw some new modifications at it! I install and demo the brand new Furitek Python esc! This new offering from Furitek provides smoother crawling and a bigger BEC to support big servos and 4 wheel steering with ease! I throw on a pair of KST CM653 low profile servos and reinstate my 4WS setup. The cherry on the top is new shocks from RCAWD!

You're hitting marks in your delivery of information many struggle with or miss. Wise editing, and composition helps focus on task while keeping things moving but showing enough detail. Wise choice of parts to address the problems you encountered. Well done.

That python setup is exactly what ive been looking for for utb18. I was eyeing the stinger for a while, but its not waterproof. In the northwest, waterproof is very important. And that kst servo looks great too. I swapped in an old one from my bomber for now. Its powerful enough, but extremely slow. Great upgrades

Adam, love your content and this video is amazing but I gotta say your son in the background out there with you absolutely makes this video for me! Love doing rc stuff with my boys and just hearing him with you and having a great time is phenomenal to me!

THe python was a much needed change and should be standard equipment in future Stinger packages. Anything less is a fail. I popped on a programmable Castle BEC and all is well - and less money considering I already have the LizPro. 8.4v now feeds my Shift RRS on the comp rig. WAAAAY better. Keep up the great work, Adam!

Awesome video!!! Thank you... Definitely enjoyed it and appreciated the lightbar 7.4v heads-up. The run time seems to be an issue, but the power trade off with 4ws is gonna be worth it...

I haven’t had good luck with any of furitek electronics both systems for utb18 and trx4m cog bad and get quite hot

Hey Adam, was curious if you would ever do any other chassis for the utb18? Maybe something like a nw chassis works coyote chassis? Also see what sone extended links would do for it? Just love the Capra and the content on it!

I would happily explore other chassis options for it. The coyote looks pretty rad

I thought one of the advantages of going brushless was increased runtime due to the efficiency of the motors? I can typically run my stock UTB for 35-45 minutes with the 650mah battery. I understand having a second servo will draw more, but 8 total minutes of run time is a pretty drastic decrease. Maybe Furitek has some bugs to work out with that ESC still. I'd like to see a couple other companies offer some alternatives. How about something from Dinky RC, Hobbywing, Castle, or the maker of the ASX24 crawler ESC. It would be nice to have some options.
@CapeCrawlers
@CapeCrawlers Год назад
Completely agree. It had great run time before overhauling the electronics. It makes me miss the stock setup honestly.

Listen by the sound of it and almost sounds like mine does and I tell you what was doing it on mine I believe is the overdrive portal gears from treal now this is on a 24 scale versus yours you know but what I'm saying is I was having that same sound like that it's hard to explain the sound almost sounds like styrofoam being smashed together I think it was the overdrive causing it to cog and get warm

Hi Cape Crawlers, Always great, helpful content -many thanks! I have an unrelated question: I'm finding that my wheel nuts are working loose pretty quickly, especially the front left. I'm sure i never used to have this problem. Is this something that you have experienced? Maybe I'm not tightening my wheel nuts enough, as I'm worried about over tightening them. Any advice is appreciated.
@michaelholm3388
@michaelholm3388 Год назад
Mine does the same, after 2-3 wheel tests, they wont stay put anymore, so i use the caps as locks for the screws, else get som normal M3 locknuts they will hold up longer.
@CapeCrawlers
@CapeCrawlers Год назад
I experience this quite a bit, especially with hex extensions. I use a drop of blue locktite on the axle stub to keep them secure.
@bassboomboing
@bassboomboing Год назад
@@CapeCrawlers I put the original wheel nuts back on, and have less problems.
@bassboomboing
@bassboomboing Год назад
I did some testing. Here's what i found: OG wheel nuts 8/10. Very good overall. Injora wheel nuts (4.5mm hex) 7.5. Very good. Injora hex hub +5mm extenders. 0/10. Works loose in an instant. Injora M2 wheel nuts locking hubs CNC. 10/10. These are amazing. They do not work loose. I am reluctant to use loctite on my axels, cos i'm always changing or taking off my wheels for maintainence.
@michaelholm3388
@michaelholm3388 Год назад
@@bassboomboing you could also use a dap off wood glue with normal nuts, it is a bit elastic and a lot of my friends swear by it.

What is the best way to add weight to an AX24? All mine does is fall over.
@CapeCrawlers
@CapeCrawlers Год назад
You want unsprung weight, meaning weight below the shocks. Diff covers, steering knuckles, wheel weights are good options.

It's acting like mine it's acting like its binding on something that's how mine is acting right now it sounds like Styrofoam being trying to crush like I don't even know how to explain it without making the sound but that squeaky little bit of grinding

@@CapeCrawlers I did trip over the aftermarket part, what a deal. Suggestion, for the upgrades, show the stock parts out of the frame and wired. Then show where and how the new parts connect and needed adapters. Could also put part name / numbers on a 3x5 card. I am hard of hearing and new to the RC “rabbit hole”.
