The ESC is a re-branded Castle Creations Sidewinder 8 not a Castle MM2. The difference is quite significant in terms of power, torque and heat. On top of all that.... the re-branded 2200 kv motor is a 1515 1Y which was designed to be paired with the CC Mamba Monster ESC as it is an amp hog/powerhouse/torque monster. When the 2200kv 1515 1Y put up against the CC 2200kv 1515B motor (that was designed to be paired with the CC Sidewinder 8th ESC) there is no contest. The 1515 1Y 2200kv Castle/Neu motor is still king after all these years....and is now available sensored!

Hi, Thanks for the video, does the sand get easily inside the motor and stops it? Thanks
@Timeflyshobbytown

No idea. The store has been closed a while and I only fly planes now.

no... the motor is a sealed can. There is no way for sand to get into the motor. However, if you plan on running it in sand I would highly recommend a product like 'Outerwearz' and get some good sealed bearings and keep em clean and greased.

That thing looks awesome, the only thing I wish Axial would do is get on the wagon and make their chassis aluminum on these larger buggies.

The Axial Racing Yeti XL 1/8th scale 4WD buggy is so amazing that we had to do it for our 3rd review. Check out the video.

I found one RU-vid video that says they were getting 38 MPH on a fresh pack and 34 towards the end of the run. Axial Yeti Speed Test

Time Flys HobbyTown ok Thanks for that info one more question. .. what tooth spur gear that would need to get it to do 45 mph with just 4s. Thanks again.
@Timeflyshobbytown
@Timeflyshobbytown 9 лет назад
BIGGBULLxxx There is room to increase the tooth count for the pinion or drop the tooth count for the spur. According to the RC calculator I use, you can drop just the spur from the stock 68 to a 56 (the lowest in the chart in the manual) and get a theoretical speed of 47.14 mph. Just changing the pinion from the stock 15 to an 18 will get you a theoretical 46.58 mph. Just for fun I put in 22 pinion and a 56 spur and it came out to 69.13 mph on a 4S and over 100 mph on a 6S, but you lose a lot of torque. A 60 spur and a 16 pinion will also get you to around 45 mph as well as a few other combinations. Keep in mind these numbers are theoretical and based on all stock parts and running of 4S, but the calculator did say around 38 mph when running a 4S stock, so they should be close.

Can you post up a video of how to install the shims for running 6s on high traction surfaces. Thanks. .. did you install yours?
@Timeflyshobbytown

This Yeti is just the floor model and we will not be installing shims.

Nice looking big and the smallest battery holder and the close is just wrong
@Timeflyshobbytown
@Timeflyshobbytown 9 лет назад
The battery holders are not as small as they appear. There is plenty of room in them. With standard batteries you have to use the included foam blocks to secure them. The holders also have wire holes at both ends so you can shift the weight of the batteries forwards or backwards.

That was a nice plain old video good job. Folks just don't make them like that anymore, also that's how be in the winter months. .. jacking up stuff in the house with my RC's... :-)

Which brand of 4s and 6s battery packs fit it just right. Thanks

BIGGBULLxxx We sold all the Yeti XLs including the floor model, so we don't have one to try packs out on. Try asking on RCGroups or one of the other online RC forums. We find RCGroups to be one of the best sources of information.

So what's the best gearing for it? (Your reply is not showing up) I need for it to take off fast without flipping over or doing wheelies and still have a top speed of 50 to 60mph on 4s. Any suggestions would be very helpful. Thanks

This buggy was built more for off road. Why do you need for it to take off fast? Are you racing on pavement, carpet or dirt?

Very good and informative review!! Very impressive R/C. I visited your store recently and I am happy to see you guys are getting into model trains as well! I am considering getting into R/C's, but I am working to finish my model railroad first. I plan to get back to your store before Christmas! See you guys soon! I have subbed your channel. Stop by and check my channel and sub back if you don't mind! Bernie
