He looks so humble yet you cannot mistake the fact that you are in the presence of a rockstar ..a legend who wields a lot of power! He knows his shit..very intelligent, observant and sharp guy.
I was really liking listening to him talk until he said he tried to OD on pills. Then I hit stop. Sorry, I lost all respect for him when he said that. What the fuck? I was in my 20s back then and liked G&R and all that, but I was too busy making something of myself to pay attention to all the details and interviews- I never knew he was that stupid and insane in his personal life. Yes, I know he's a genius song writer and singer, but what a fuck wad. He was one step away from going the Kurt Cobain route.
It's quite refreshing to hear that his suicide attempt makes you contemptuous rather than sympathetic/admiring....it seems that Kurt Cobain only became more of a legend in most people's eyes after he killed himself.
He is telling all the young people to effectively- LISTEN and enjoy the MUSIC. And don't do DRUGS. An accomplished musician is telling you all that- LISTEN.!!!
The irony to Axl's clean and sober stance is that even without drugs he managed to inflict permanent damage to the band with an appetite for destruction. I mean, that whole fiasco with his not wanting to get off his ass and save the day for Metallica when James was badly burned was a good example.
@@craigroberts1670 their sound was fu**ed up he couldn't hear & Axl damaged his voice after 90 minutes that night. But hey let's keep blaming Axl. No let's not. Blame the crappy PA who didn't do his job.
Wow, how honest of him to talk about his insecurities and suicide attempt? No Rock star now days would admit to some shit like that,,, at least not in an interview! Damn, times really have changed, I guess... Btw, his voice is sexy af....
He's a natural baritone, blessed with the ability to go from a second baritone all the way up to to octaves higher than anyone else has ever been able to accomplish, Mariah Carey included
Fun fact: Courtney Love thought Axl's and Kurt Cobain had the best noses in Rock. One of the reasons she was so attracted to Kurt was because of his nose and there was no way in hell she was "going to mate with Axl". Lol
❤️🌸I think Axl has a lot of soul ✨ By that I mean one foot in the spirit world and one in the earthly world... And I truly don’t think I am wrong. I think he’s a wonderful human being and only wants the best for everyone. ✨✨🌸
Yes I think that too! That‘s why it‘s very hard to live in this superficial world as a young person nowadays. I wish I could live in the world from that time back then.
Whether or not he's done some immature shit (and who hasn't at one point in their lives!) one can't help but feel sorry for Axl. I mean the poor guy had a horrible, abusive childhood and despite that he has done several good deeds for people when he could turned out much worse and I believed he was very protective of his siblings growing up
Yeah a lover voice can go up as much as humanly possible but the ones with higher voices can't come down. And axl has highest range in the industry, you might know.
How different Kurt Loder was from current anchors!…It was an entirely different world… you believed him when he said something. He was always in control, always elegant, never smutty nor sarcastic. Always above the average but never showing off. I remember how he gave the world the news of Kurt's death. With great dignity. He gave you that sensation… that music was a serious thing, which had to do with talent, creativity, art, in the end, and not being provocative 24h a day for ending being ridiculous and half (or completely) naked while shouting out that you're better than the others. No, music was… something beautiful, that required a real talent, the kind of talent Axl or Kurt had.
i was born 1981, fan since AFD. This is the first time i hear Axl speak. I always knew he was an intelligent human being, this interview proves me right. Thanks!
Axl seems like a very reasonable and responsible dude in this. I know he gets a lot of flak about being a dick, and I'm partly guilty of that too, but he seems to portray himself well in this video. Yes, he is an entertainer, a rocker, a badass. But he's also human. And he has obligations and duties like everyone who works.
Good to know he's got the conscience to not want their (the band's) craft to be misinterpreted as glorifying dangerous activities (drink driving, for example).
Everybody is forgetting history. Not the first one to do it as he puts it. But it's still amazing. And they definitely went to town on putting so much out there.
This was my fav era of music! I miss this pivotal time of Rock stars with presence like Axel Rose and company. His speaking voice is just so loaded with coolness that breaks out unbridled on stage like fire!
"Coma is Slash's baby.." Thank you Slash for some of the best music ever! Please get back together with Axl and Izzy and put rock n' roll the frontpage again.
@@joshburns4611 nobody said that the women commenting were only obsessed with his looks..your allowed to admire someone's beauty and comment about it..it doesn't make them any less of a fan
i have commented on a few other GNR videos and i do enjoy this one cause it does show axl a real person, showing his feelings toward steven and being right about getting rid of him. I wish there could be some sort of reunion with the early 90s GNR back just beacuse they rocked so much...maybe down the road they will realize they do that that chemistry.
About Matt Sorum... 3:18: "He was a miracle. He has saved the band's life. He is a key man. He is an up mood. He works, he writes his own material. He writes a lot. He works real well with us. He takes suggestions while he keeps everybody in line, keeps the timing great" .... And in a special interview (a couple of years ago) he told his friend Del James that Matt Sorum's drumming put him down most of the times back in those days! ....Izzy didn't like that shift of drummers back in 1991.
He could be onto something when he says that 27 is the hardest year. It's the year that took Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Jim Morrison. He's lucky his name didn't start with J or he would have OD'd for sure. :-P
Totally agree...would love to hear him talk about Chinease Democracy. It's a great Album, nothing better to hear him explain the thoughts behind creating the songs.
@CUTIEpieMIXY oh hell yeah, axl's honestly one of THE best rock and roll singers i've ever heard. kurt was more into punk than rock and roll, and nirvana single handedly changed the 90's music scene. they're both legends
I remember seeing this when it premiered on MTV during the Guns weekend for the Paris ppv, I still have my VHS copy of that too. Axl talks some real ish here. Makes sense...🤘
OMG!! I had this on VHS (I taped that whole MTV - GNR night) and watched it over 'n over 'n over. Love his beautiful speaking voice and God! was he HOT at the time... wish everybody could be forever young. I remember crying 'cause my mom taped somthing else over it. (hej, I was 14) I thought I'd lost it forever. THANK YOU SO MUCH for sharing this footage!!
