Question for you, Erin. This is the first I've heard of Morel entering the home hi-fi market. The Avyra series looks stunning at their price point so I checked out their website and listed dealers. I can't find any site that has them listed for sale. Did you happen to hear from them if they plan to make them available through any online retailers?
I'm with you on the Morel towers! Biggest surprise of the show for me. Those are so good for the money. Loved those speakers and they look great. Wish I would have run into you!
Sorry for the multiple comments, Erin. Last night YT was having some kind of issue with commenting. I must have left five comments here. Let's see if they all show up. 😂
Hey Erin, did you get a chance to see Marques Brownlees last 2 videos? Fantastic timing (coincidence?) with regards to your "situation" the last couple weeks lol
I think it is a bit different though. What happened here is all on the manufacturer. The review itself was kind of positive. For the price it seems like a good speaker. It's just the fragile behaviour of the owner that hurts them.
Hi Erin. I too was blown away by the Morel speakers. I have been in touch with Casey and have them "added to cart". But then I decded i should wait for your review. I hope it's coming soon as you mentioned.
Great to hear you had a good Saturday at the show. I had a good day as well. I can't believe how packed that elevator was when we spoke briefly. Look forward to seeing you next time. All the best, Chris
Just wanted to say Hello Erin, good to see you. Thanks for stopping to chat. Sorry you couldn't make the GTG, but you obviously had more on your plate. Maybe you'll remember my brand.
I was lucky enough to be able to chat with Chris Brunhaver when I visited PS Audio HQ in 2022. At that time, he was working on the FR20. Affable, knowledgeable, and generous with his time. And, of course, the FR30s sounded excellent in their demo room.
@@TheJediJoker 😂 🫵Wow, you're one of "those." 😵💫🤪 JediJoker.. the handle figures.😉 Mine is a dissimulation. I've learned over the years that the more you stick with basic vocabulary when communicating to a "general" audience, a higher probability exists that your message will be understood properly. Even then, you're basically "tumbling dice."
Thank you for the AXPONA show report, but the greater gift is the ability to explain what you hear using detailed measurements to support listening impressions. Consequently, I have a high degree of confidence in your equipment evaluations.
I didn't mean to interrupt you in the middle of a conversation on Saturday but I was glad to see you there and be able thank you for your hard work especially after what had to be a bad week.
Glad you had a good time! REALLY looking forward to your review of the Super Dentons! I'm considering Lintons, Super Dentons, or RP-8000fii for my living room, and I am really hoping the Super Dentons are as good as the Lintons since they are closer to the RP-8000fii price.
Congrats!!! Those are incredible..! The Klippel will hold it? Man, .. I kept my eyes open for ya all weekend around Axpona... hopefully next time. So glad you had a great time. How was that Carbon fiber finish? I've been seeing it on their photos. Looking forward to see how these measure up. .. and if you enjoy their sound at home. cheers!
Regarding Vance D, as a person who has made a number of speakers I am always looking to learn . I liked you were asking questions as knowledge is a journey.👍
you are a treasure. no doubt you are building a base that will put you at the top of on line reviewers. well deserved. i do pity you having to place uber pricey heavy speakers on your test stand however.
SI 24" Subwoofer and Berries FTW ;), you got to start somewhere right? Great to see you there and in good sprits, cheers! Maybe find time for a beer next time. We got to get you into more DIY.
I spent some time in a Hi-Fi shop on Thursday and was able to attend the show on Friday, but there was way too much to see in only one day. The Borresen C1s were crazy good for a small stand-mount speaker. Very clear, detailed and dynamic! I also thought the GoldenEar T66 sounded very clean and dynamic with good bass extension. Some others that stood out were the Perlisten S7t, Focal Sopra 2 and Focal Kanta 2. The Focals definitely sounded more alike than different, with the Kanta seemingly being the better value. I thought the Paradigm 100F paired with a sub sounded pretty nice, though not the most refined top end. I was also pretty surprised by the Klipsch Cornwall iv. It's not the most neutral speaker, but it was clear, dynamic and had pretty big scale. I never really noticed the midrange sounding "shouty" or the treble being harsh either.
I think the 888s are now the best speaker for the money out there if you want dynamic “live” sound . The bass was stunning! Think I’ll be getting a pair too.
Great video! Going to be cool to see how much diminishing returns will kick in at these higher price points. I'm wondering how much better (or worse) they really are!
Nice. I’d love to see how they test. Those AMT type tweeters are groundbreaking in terms of versatility I’ve heard they are even better integrated in 2024
Erin your trajectory seems so strongly positioned. You mentioned recently that you'll never be able to measure and assess loudspeaker performance for a living ... I'm not so sure of that. I realize you're in the hotbed of aerospace engineering. However, you never know what opportunities may arise. Both your approach, and your character are really quite compelling. Everyone sees this.
I have Rockport Atria II's on Burmester 911 MK3 amp and 088 preamp. they are Exceptional and so good i got rid of a more expensive pair of Vivid Audio Giya G2 speakers for them
Any speakers tempting after having the blades? I expect the rockports to be pretty good. Good build and drivers but maybe not amazing. Just have to wait and see.
It’s hard to say for sure. I mean, I really like the MoFi 888 but I can’t say they’re a sure-shot replacement without listening to both in my room with my music.
Very nice! Looking forward to the super denton! The mofis look promising but seem out of place unless in a big room. If you can get your hands on 5050 q acoustics that'd also be great!
I’m super excited to see how the Super Denton’s perform. I’ve heard good things about dome midrange drivers. If designed correctly they apparently have outstanding detail and imaging. The ATC SCM50 is my endgame speaker. The Super Denton’s look like a more attainable version of the ATC’s.
I was there Sat and Sun. The speaker side of things was rather disappointing, but the headphone stuff was great. I went to the KEF room, and they only had ONE model there. . . 👎 Really not the place to go, to actually demo speakers. But an amazing event to see, still. How did you get a free pass, when I'm the one on the AXPONA main page??! 😂 I didn't see you there, but I saw Steve Guttenberg, and the PS Audio guy.
Really looking forward to your take on the Super Dentons! Everything else you mention seems too much for my wallet...😀 It would be nice if you could review the bookshelf versions of some of those others. (svs, morel) Keep it up!
Pretty sure the lyngdorf speakers are passive. Their integrated amp is awesome though but way overpriced now. I bought pre pandemic for slightly more than the Nad m33 and now it’s nearly $3k more.
@@ErinsAudioCorner are you ever doing the burchardt a10 and their new sub a10? Not so interested in the speakers but the sub if competent looks to have a high girlfriend acceptance factor.
Erin, I was there too on Fri and Sat, even 2 days I barely got thru the whole show! Sorry I didn't see you, would have loved to say hello. Standouts for me were the Consonus Tide/Submerge and CSS Typhon speakers. The big PS audio were sublime as well, but at a stratospheric price though. Actually the Consonus was expensive too, but the CSS were more reasonable. I loved the Morel BT speakers, amazing sound from those small boxes. Vanatoo's Transparent 1 also had very sound good from small boxes. I was hoping Philharmonic Audio would have their floorstanders, but they just showed the newer BMR with the SB white woofer. Really a fun show!
Do you consult privately? I would like to add a subwoofer to a 2-channel system and have questions on the use of RoomPerfect correction system and integrating a subwoofer.
Great that you'll be reviewing the Super Denton, Erin! I have the Denton 85 (as well as the Linton 85) and I'm curious to know how balanced the Super Denton is. For what it's worth, my Dentons clearly have elevated treble which I'm attenuating by replacing one of the speaker bridges (brass plates) with a 2 Ohm resistor. That way I can listen to every album which was simply impossible without the resistor.
I said I was going to try. I just don't see how I can manage it. Even with the typical 'industry discount' (that even people at Best Buy can get), it's just so far out there. But I still want to.
@@ErinsAudioCorner It just hit me that Danley (Tom) might be willing to share some spinorama data with you ... maybe? The ILE3 looks like it's based of the SBH20 Paraline (line synergy horn).
off topic here, but just watched a story of the NASA trip to the asteroid Bennu, where it said that the sample recovery vehicle made many orbits, landed, then returned to earth with the sample. It obviously it carries enough fuel for all that, Is it liquid fuel? Maybe once it's in orbit around the asteroid, just small amounts of fuel are required for orbit adjustments? You shouldn't have told us what you do! : )
For God's sake 40K or more just for speakers! You must be kidding me. What kind of job would one have to afford and justify that? I have a home brew re-built set of speakers from the 60's that.....never mind. What a bunch of crap. Sorry, I call it like I see it. “First you make people believe they have a problem, and then you sell them the solution. That's how advertising works. Every snake oil salesman knows that.” ― Oliver Markus Malloy, Bad Choices Make Good Stories - Finding Happiness in Los Angeles. - The use of “snake oil” as a derogatory phrase traces back to the late 1800s when "patent medicines" were often peddled by travelling salesman or on the back pages of newspapers, promising cures, with little proof of their curative powers.
Sounds funn! Did you see the Starke Sound Beta 7? Seems like a potentially cool, affordable ($750) bookshelf with good bass. Cool looking carbon woofer and weird looking waveguide type thing. Love my Elac DBR62 but the vinyl wrap looks cheesy af. Looking for good, affordable alternatives 😁
Honest manufacturers, who are confident about their speaker designs, should have no problem letting a reviewer like Erin measure their speakers objectively and state their opinions on the results. Those who may be afraid of the outcome of said review... well... we now know how they might respond. 😉
Man, the sub number shot up here recently. A fair percentage of those probably stood to be Tegtran [sic] customers but are here to stay instead. Thanks Tegtran! Hope it was worth the sacrifice!
There was basically a call to arms over at ASR. A real "we need to preserve our right to do objective measurements and comment about them online" kind of moment.
