Indeed it does appear ''lacklustre on every front'' & particularly in a world of where nearly all of us so ferociously want things to happen RIGHT NOW & when things don't happen RIGHT NOW, it then as a consequence, ONLY all becomes so ''lacklustre'' in our eyes, but I have no doubts that things are most certainly ''going on'' behind the scenes when it comes to bringing in some new players in & just as importantly, getting rid of some of our multiple deadwood & then when the transfer window does close, the ONLY issue will be, did we sign players of the ''quality'' NEEDED for the Champions League in particular & did we make the most serious of starts in getting rid of some of our multiple deadwood & so we now wait & watch.....

@@frankbrennan1619 I'm glad you agree. Obviously we don't know what is going on behind the scenes, so we're all free to guess, but the point is not is there anything happening, but to what degree. Players benefit from learning about team mates, building match fitness and getting settled in Scotland, which all takes time, so it's beneficial to have them in early. Signing players the day before the Champions League is clearly not good enough, and nobody thinks they'll do that, but it's sliding scale

@@rossevans2261 The ONLY type that you will ever ''have in early'' are 99.9% of the ones that the selling Club just want to completely get rid of & there's no huge, big, queue, desperate to buy them either & then we rock up desperate to splaff millions of oor poonds just '' sitting there in the bank doing nothing'' & so if we really are looking to buy one or three of a better ''quality'' type, these guys have choices & options & most of them, dare I say, just DON'T have the woeful & dire SPFL at the very top of their list as to where they want to play their football, never mind living in cold, miserable, wet Scotland, & so as I've said & like it or not, we wait & we watch & pass judgement when the window closes.

ACSOM has quite clearly stated that we require 6-8 starters. That has been our position since the end of last season and it hasn’t changed.

@@ACelticStateOfMind Absolutely ''we require 6-8 starters'' & of course when we talk about ''starters'' we ONLY mean signing guys who have been near complete First Team regulars for the Clubs we're buying them from & so walk straight into our First Team right from the get go & in that context, we'll be ''fortunate'' if we get three or four of this type & all against a backdrop too of course, of most seriously starting to get rid of our multiple deadwood sucking the life out of the place & yes, getting rid of the likes of Tilio & Haksabanovic who should never have been signed in the first instance, is a positive wee start in the ginormous clear oot that MUST take place now & in other transfer windows.

ACSOM lads have qualified their statements by saying can't judge them fully on one friendly

I had them on a list of guys I’d loan out, but they both have something to offer. If we bring in a new #6 & #8, how many games will Holm & Lawal get? They’ll start the season behind MOR, Reo, McGregor and Iwata.

The facts are ONLY that NONE of us knows if ''the young players are good enough'' simply because we don't see them in training on a daily basis, or know if they are doing ALL the right things off the park that are TOTALLY in keeping with a professional footballer's lifestyle & of course, don't have ANYTHING like that ''poor attitude'' that our Manager so rightly detests & just won't have about the place, but I do completely agree with you in your overall assertion that these so-called ''Academies'' & whatever the reasons are exactly, are just NOT producing ANYTHING like the numbers of professional footballers they should be producing for the money ''invested'' in them & as evidenced in particular in the multi - billion EPL....
